Chapter 327: The Utmost Shamelessness
"You bunch of insects!"
The voice was calm and free of mockery, spoken casually.
Yet to the crowd, these words struck like physical slaps across their faces. Every cultivator present held prestige within Jin Kingdom. Even the youngest disciples were prized talents being groomed to lead their sects.
In Jin Kingdom’s hierarchy, the Heavenly Sword Sect stood supreme, followed by the Du family. The royal house matched the Du family’s strength, with major sects like Qi Yang Sect trailing behind – all overflowing with experts where Foundation Establishment stage cultivators were commonplace.
But to Mei Yansheng’s Senior Brother, these Foundation Establishment practitioners were mere insects to be casually crushed.
Rage erupted instantly.
"What arrogance! Though Mei Yansheng reached the Golden Core stage, his mental fortitude is pathetic. The Four Peak Masters of Heavenly Sword Sect alone could send him fleeing like a whipped dog, let alone Murong Wuqing! You think a single realm elevates one to the heavens? Pah!"
"Golden Core stage my foot! He probably gobbled some heavenly materials and earthly treasures to cheat his way up. Any real Golden Core cultivator would never get thrashed by Foundation Establishment ants!"
"Spineless coward! Show yourself!"
"Come out and we’ll carve you into mincemeat!"
"Save your breath. He’s just bluffing to save Mei Yansheng!"
"Right! Should’ve realized sooner!"
Insults flew as the humiliated talents seethed. Being called insects ignited their fury.
"Mei Yansheng’s whole sect reeks of vermin! His Senior Brother, their masters – all dishonorable scum!" A Du family disciple jabbed his finger at Mei Yansheng, laughing derisively.
Mei Yansheng’s body twitched slightly before he turned, eyeing the disciple like he was witnessing supreme stupidity.
"What’s that look? I’ll gouge your eyes out!" The disciple sneered. The once-revered Golden Core cultivator, now battered and humiliated, commanded no fear.
"Seeking death." Mei Yansheng’s brow arched coldly.
"Come then! Can you even stand? Golden Core? Hah!" The disciple’s mocking laughter spread like contagion.
"Golden Core? Spit on it!" A dozen surrounding disciples chorused, howling with laughter.
Mid-guffaw, a light streak flashed across the sky. The jeering mouths froze mid-laugh – first shocked, then disbelieving, finally despairing.
Thwip!
Blood arrows erupted from their throats as the light pierced their necks. Clutching their gaping wounds, the disciples collapsed, gurgling wordlessly as crimson rain pattered the earth.
"I warned you." Mei Yansheng rose with icy amusement.
"Mei Yansheng! How dare you?!" Du Chuntian roared, equal parts furious and stunned.
Mei Yansheng scoffed. "Still threatening me, Leader Du? I’d slaughter you all gladly, but even at my prime, executing such an effortless strike would be impossible."
Du Chuntian blinked, baffled.
Yan Changchun’s eyes narrowed sharply. "You claim this attack came from your Senior Brother? Launched across thousands of miles?"
"Just a dozen bugs. What right do they have to make my elder brother strike from ten thousand miles away? He simply borrowed a thread of the world’s rules to guide a speck of spiritual energy from the world." Mei Yansheng stood at the cave opening, robes shredded and bloodied, yet all fear had vanished from his face, replaced by arrogant pride.
"Borrowed world’s rules? Guided spiritual energy?"
Yan Changchun and the others exchanged shocked looks, struggling to believe what they’d heard.
As late-stage Foundation Establishment cultivators, they understood spatial laws. What Mei called "guiding world’s rules" meant using spatial laws to manipulate local spiritual energy – something they could do, but never with such careless ease.
The real terror lay in distance. Their manipulations required physical presence, yet Mei claimed his senior brother operated from ten thousand miles away – an unimaginable feat.
"Elder Seven, your thoughts?"
Su Hao turned to the grim-faced elder beside him, breathing heavily.
Elder Seven weighed his words carefully. "This man’s cultivation… perhaps beyond Golden Core stage."
Su Hao choked. "Beyond? Pill has broken and they’re reborn? Nascent Soul stage?"
"Sound transmission across ten thousand miles requires Fifth Level Golden Core. But remember his threat – giving Mei thirty years to reach peak Golden Core or face destruction. Only someone at peak Golden Core or higher would dare say that."
Dread twisted Su Hao’s face. "If it’s Nascent Soul… even all Jin Kingdom’s cultivators couldn’t oppose him."
"Fifth Level Golden Core, maybe. Nascent Soul?" Elder Seven sighed heavily. "Hopeless."
Su Hao hung his head.
Ye Yun suddenly snapped, "Since when do cultivation levels decide life and death? Will you hand Ling’er over?"
The blunt challenge left Elder Seven and Su Hao speechless. After long moments, Elder Seven laughed bitterly.
"The Nascent Soul hasn’t even arrived, yet we’re already defeated. The boy’s right. What worth do we have if we can’t protect our own?"
Su Hao’s eyes flashed. Meeting Elder Seven’s gaze, both men burst into laughter.
"Su Hao! Old Seven! Have you gone mad?" Elder Shi’s shrill voice cut through the cave. "Where’s Su Ling? Changchun! Bring healing pills for Mr. Mei!"
The Grand Elder groveled toward the bloodied visitor. "Mr. Mei, ignore these fools. We know our place."
Mei waved dismissively. "Since you beg so nicely, I’ll be merciful. The girl and… compensation."
"Immediately, honored sir!" Elder Shi fawned. "The Demon Race Bloodline wretch will be delivered!"
Murmurs of agreement spread:
"Exactly right!"
"How dare they oppose an upper kingdom expert!"
"Kill the demon spawn!"
"Were I tainted, I’d have killed myself!"
The crowd that moments ago vowed to grind Mei’s bones now clamored to please him.
"Elder Shi!" Ye Yun’s voice cracked like a whip. "What dogshit are you spewing?"
The Grand Elder swelled with rage. "You dare?! After this, I’ll take your eyes and tongue, break your limbs, shatter your cultivation! You’ll beg till death!"
Ye Yun swept scornful eyes across the crowd. "Look at Jin’s mighty sects! Preening peacocks until real danger comes! You shame cultivation itself! Better you qi-deviate and die than live as cowards!"
Outraged shouts erupted:
"Insolent!"
"Dare insult us!"
"Cut him to pieces!"
Ye Yun spat. "Vile worms. All of you – shameless!"
