Chapter 320: You Are Just at the First Level of Golden Core
Mei Yansheng’s reaction clearly caught everyone off guard. The awkwardness on his face revealed he dared not act.
Du Chuntian noticed this and stepped forward, smiling. “What does it matter if the Demon Race Bloodline has awakened thirty times, a hundred times, or even a thousand times? Does that change the fact they’re our mortal enemies? Should we tolerate them just because their bloodline resurfaces occasionally?”
“Well said!” Duan Yunsha echoed firmly. “The Demon Race will never be our allies, no matter how often they appear. Our blood feud is eternal.”
“Exactly. Don’t let this child’s ramblings sway you,” Duan Hongcheng added loudly.
The crowd exchanged uneasy glances. Some agreed with Su Hao’s reasoning—Su Ling was merely a Qi refining stage girl. Even if her Demon Race Bloodline awakened, how much harm could she cause? The Heavenly Sword Sect, Jin Kingdom’s top sect, could easily suppress her with any Foundation Establishment expert.
Yet most insisted, “Non-humans will always have different agendas. If her bloodline awakens later, who’ll bear the consequences?” They demanded she either be executed or imprisoned after having her cultivation destroyed.
Under Du Chuntian and the princes’ influence, the crowd leaned toward forcing Su Ling to ingest the End of the Demon and imprisoning her for three days.
“Mei Yansheng!” Su Hao shouted fearlessly at the Golden Core expert. “Is this your decision? Do you speak for the Great Qin Empire?”
Mei Yansheng feared Shen Mo, who held the Moon Goddess Palace’s token, but sneered at Su Hao, the Peak Master of the Shadowless Peak.
“Who are you to address me so boldly?”
Earlier mild-mannered, Mei Yansheng now radiated cold murderous intent, like an unsheathed blade.
“You plan to condemn my daughter, yet deny me a father’s right to question?” Su Hao retorted.
“Her Demon Race Bloodline concerns all humanity. Your paternal feelings are irrelevant,” Mei Yansheng declared coldly, a sword’s phantom materializing above him.
Sect Leader Changchun’s gentle voice cut through the tension. “Since you’re not a Great Qin envoy, you’ve no authority over our disciples’ life and death.”
Mei Yansheng stiffened. “You doubt my Golden Core strength? Or the Great Qin Empire’s power?”
Sect Leader Changchun laughed. “The Great Qin surely has Nascent Soul experts. But you—a first-level Golden Core cultivator—gained less than ten times the power after condensing your False Pill. You’re the weakest among Golden Core cultivators.”
Mei Yansheng’s face darkened. “The Heavenly Sword Sect hides its depths well. Yet even the weakest Golden Core can crush any Foundation Establishment cultivator. Or does your sect boast a Golden Core expert after a century without one?”
The hall erupted in murmurs. If true, Mei Yansheng stood no chance.
“Sect Leader Changchun,” Du Chuntian asked gravely, “does your sect truly have a Golden Core master?”
Sect Leader Changchun smiled. “Care to guess?”
Elder Shi’s voice shattered the tension. “My grandmaster won’t intervene unless the sect faces destruction.”
Chaos followed. With a Golden Core expert neutralized, Du Chuntian’s faction regained momentum.
“Elder Shi prioritizes humanity over sentiment,” Leader Du praised.
“The Demon Race must be eradicated, not gambled with,” Elder Shi agreed.
Sect Leader Changchun glared. “Elder Jin promised aid!”
“He’ll honor it—when humanity isn’t at stake,” Elder Shi replied.
Sect Leader Changchun snorted, yielding.
“Since all agree,” Elder Shi announced smugly, “Murong Wuqing, bring Su Ling forth.”
Murong Wuqing, silent until now, finally looked up.
“The true lead hasn’t arrived. You’re hasty, Elder Shi.”
