Chapter 291: Vulture King’s Divine Might
Facing the True Fire Flying Lion, Ye Yun showed no fear. Instead, he stood boldly, shouting as he prepared to fight alongside the Divine Feather Vulture King. Gentle lightning flickered around him.
The Divine Feather Vulture King soared, wings spread wide like a massive golden bird glowing in the sky. Golden light radiated from its body, making it resemble a statue of gold suspended in the void.
The True Fire Flying Lion remained motionless, its eyes cold and mocking. To it, Ye Yun and this "Golden-winged Roc descendant" stood no chance against forty-nine spirit beasts.
Yet Ye Yun felt no panic. Though these beasts were stronger than him and the Vulture King, even multiplying his cultivation level wouldn’t help. Each spirit beast possessed Foundation Establishment stage strength, and though they lacked Jun Ruolan’s control over criminals, their natural intelligence made them dangerous.
The forty-nine spirit beasts closed in, lunging as one.
Ye Yun laughed, purple light swirling around his hands as ice energy and flames merged into a blinding flash. Having regained true qi through pills and the Immortal Spirit Stone—along with traces of exotic spiritual energy—he channeled everything into a single sword strike.
The thunderous roar and lightning around his purple long sword vanished abruptly, leaving only a dim blade thrusting slowly toward the charging beasts.
Ye Yun’s face grew calm, as if entering a trance. To him, the attacking beasts faded away. Only the sword remained in his sight, mind, and senses—a purple blade stretching endlessly, as though bridging heaven and earth. Though three feet long, it seemed to reach the world’s edge.
If he willed it, this sword could strike enemies millions of miles away and return in an instant. It felt like an extension of his consciousness, limitless and indescribable.
Though uncertain why he’d entered this state, Ye Yun knew his grasp of the Sword Path had deepened. Yet he couldn’t channel this insight into his swordplay. Merging this understanding with a strike would let the sword dominate all beneath heaven.
“The Sword Path is the Heavenly Path. To think you’d grasp this truth so young,” a voice echoed in Ye Yun’s mind—the Ancestor of the Sword Path, who’d been silently recovering in the Soul Turning Tower.
Ye Yun asked inwardly, “How do I merge this with sword intent?”
“The first layer: make the heart your sword. Where the heart points, the sword reigns. Merge heart and blade—they become one. The heart’s breadth determines the sword’s reach.” The Ancestor’s voice held awe and urgency. There was no time for lectures—if Ye Yun failed, the beasts would tear him apart.
*Heart as sword. Heart’s reach, sword’s domain.*
Clarity struck Ye Yun like lightning. His eyes blazed as the Purple Shadow Sword erupted with light, each beam a razor-sharp arc shooting outward.
The sword light pierced the spirit beasts instantly—no blood spilled, no wounds seen. Yet struck beasts froze, trembling with terror. Over a dozen shrieked and fled, ignoring the True Fire Flying Lion’s presence.
The remaining beasts halted, confused and fearful. Ye Yun’s strike hadn’t seemed powerful, yet an instinct warned them: advance, and disaster followed.
“Focus!” the Ancestor barked. “Your heart-sword unity is unstable!”
“Ancestor,” Ye Yun pressed, “that strike lacked force. Why did they flee?” He maintained his connection to the sword, baffled.
The Ancestor of the Sword Path chuckled. "That wasn’t an ordinary attack, but the Sword Path itself. Those spirit beasts likely see an unerasable sword imprint in their minds – a terrifying vision of the heavenly sword descending to slaughter them all, unstoppable and absolute."
"A true expert doesn’t need to strike. Mere presence can crush an enemy’s courage and weaken their power. After reaching Foundation Establishment stage, one refines their soul to generate this crushing pressure. Your sword light achieved similar effect – though you haven’t truly mastered heart and sword becoming one, merely projecting its intent was enough to scare off low-level beasts," the Ancestor explained.
Ye Yun nodded in understanding.
Yet the remaining higher-level beasts only felt mild fear from the sword intent, insufficient to override their obedience to the True Fire Flying Lion. Without unleashing perfected heart-sword unity through One Sword technique, these beasts would soon attack again.
Ye Yun’s icy gaze swept across the beasts before settling disdainfully on the True Fire Flying Lion.
"Join the fray yourself, oh mighty Lion." Confidence radiated from Ye Yun’s smirk.
The lion hesitated. Ye Yun hid a smile – their earlier clash revealed this fire beast’s cowardly nature. Seeing its flames fail to harm Ye Yun had planted fear, making it reluctant to act without absolute certainty.
By summoning forty-nine spirit beasts, the lion hoped to exhaust Ye Yun’s energy for an easy kill later. But when Ye Yun’s sword arcs struck, though seemingly harmless, over a dozen beasts fled in terror despite their master’s presence – further deterring the lion’s direct involvement.
The True Fire Flying Lion growled commands.
Immediately, the paused beast assault resumed with furious roars as creatures charged Ye Yun.
Golden light erupted beneath Ye Yun’s feet as the Divine Feather Vulture King beat its wings. Two tornadoes materialized, tearing through the advancing horde. To outsiders, the Vulture King appeared equivalent to third level Foundation Establishment experts – but this tribulation-surviving beast’s true power exceeded such measures.
The cyclones lifted two beasts, wind-blades slicing one in half amid bloodspray. Surviving creatures scattered before the storm’s path.
Su Yinxue’s group stared speechless. That Foundation Establishment-level beasts fell so easily…
"Damn! That vulture’s insane!" Duan Chenfeng gaped.
"We’d die in one move if we faced it now," muttered a Tian Shen Peak disciple.
Another chuckled nervously. "It wouldn’t even glance our way. Just its stare would floor us."
Su Ling shrugged. "Still just Ye Yun’s pet though."
The group gasped. This Golden-winged Roc descendant… tamed? Yet the evidence flew before them.
The True Fire Flying Lion’s eyes narrowed, sensing the tornadoes’ dangerous power. Without using true fire, resisting would cost it dearly. Its paw twitched but remained still, waiting.
"Not attacking? Your pack’s getting slaughtered!" Ye Yun laughed amidst flashing sword arcs. Though outmatched individually, his sword’s psychological impact and the Vulture King’s dominance threw the beasts into disarray.
Suddenly, the lion stepped forward, spewing fire light.
True fire engulfed the battlefield. Simultaneously, Ye Yun sensed massive energy surging from a hundred zhang left – something approached at terrifying speed.
