Chapter 280: Mountain Shattering
The melodious bell sound echoed through the air, clearer than before. Suddenly, the twenty criminals attacking Jiang Shui Ning and Murong Wuhen froze mid-action. They spun around and shot toward the ten assaulting Ye Yun.
The thirty criminals moved as one, instantly forming a cone formation. The leader’s eyes blazed with intensity as the others pressed their palms against the backs of those ahead, merging their energies until all thirty became a single entity.
“Foundation Establishment stage four! That criminal’s at the fourth layer!” Su Ling cried, her voice trembling with shock.
Murong Wuhen and Jiang Shui Ning paled. Experienced cultivators, they instantly grasped Jun Ruolan’s scheme: using the combined force of thirty criminals to eliminate Ye Yun first. Without him, they’d stand no chance against the remaining attackers.
Without hesitation, they leapt to Ye Yun’s side.
“We must unite completely this time, Junior Brother Ye,” Jiang Shui Ning said gravely.
“Agreed. What’s your plan?” Murong Wuhen added urgently.
Ye Yun stood motionless, true qi churning within him. Though most of the spiritual energy from the Heart of Immortals and Demons had been consumed, the lingering residue made his body feel ready to rupture.
“Since Jun Ruolan wants us dead, we won’t make it easy. Show me your hidden trump cards now,” Ye Yun said coldly, eyes glinting.
Murderous intent flooded his heart. He’d assumed the Soul-Cutting Mountains trial involved measured competition between sect members, not true lethal intent. But Jun Ruolan’s consecutive attacks had nearly killed him – only the Heart’s intervention had saved him.
“Our disputes can wait. Let’s destroy that witch Jun Ruolan first,” Murong Wuhen growled, all arrogance replaced by grim resolve.
“That brat who joined barely a year ago? She won’t take us down!” Jiang Shui Ning snarled. Her hands danced, water-like true qi shooting from her fingertips to form an iridescent sphere pulsing with rainbow light.
“Senior Sister Yinxue, everyone – strike now before they finish merging!” Ye Yun barked.
Purple light shadow flickered around his hand as thunder boomed. Lightning coiled around his sword before vanishing into the blade. His eyes flashed fire then ice as every shred of true qi concentrated into the weapon.
Ye Yun raised his sword solemnly, entering a trance-like state where only the purple blade existed.
Murong Wuhen’s eyes widened. He recognized this sword technique’s terrifying power – even he couldn’t withstand it.
“Jiang Shui Ning! Full strength! Annihilate them here!” Murong Wuhen roared. A grinding disc-shaped treasure materialized above him, spinning slowly.
“The Grinding Disc?!” Jiang Shui Ning and Su Yinxue gasped in unison.
The ethereal figure expanded explosively, blotting out a hundred zhang radius.
“Not the true Immortal artifact, merely a top-grade spiritual weapon replica. But enough to crush these vermin,” Murong Wuhen declared.
“Water Moon Duality!” Jiang Shui Ning shouted. Her water sphere split into two – one blazing like the sun, the other a crescent moon.
“Shadowless Heaven-Absolute Sword!” Su Yinxue’s cry rang out. Countless beams of light surged into her pristine, jade-like sword.
Duan Chenfeng’s black battle spear erupted with dark radiance, conjuring hundreds of lethal blossoms. Yu Minghong and Jiang Ruchao readied their artifacts, qi boiling for devastating strikes.
Even Su Ling and the junior disciples prepared their strongest attacks.
“How… entertaining,” Jun Ruolan’s mocking voice drifted through the chaos, utterly unconcerned by the overwhelming forces arrayed against her.
Ye Yun ignored her. Suddenly, his eyes flashed with excitement as he roared, “Kill!”
Instantly, dozens of attacks exploded like fireworks across the sky. Multicolored streaks carrying each fighter’s strongest blows slammed toward the thirty criminals, focusing particularly on the Foundation Establishment stage four criminal.
“Ten Thousand Streams Converge, Mountain Shattering Strike!” Jun Ruolan’s voice cut through the air, accompanied by a sharp bell chime.
The thirty criminals roared as one. Their true qi poured into the frontmost member before funneling entirely into the fourth-layer Foundation Establishment criminal.
The criminal clenched his fists, eyes blazing, and threw a punch at the incoming attacks.
No words could capture that punch’s devastating power.
A punch that could flatten mountains.
A punch that could split raging rivers.
A strike forged from the combined true qi of thirty Foundation Establishment experts.
This was the most formidable attack Ye Yun, Murong Wuhen, and the others had ever faced.
Though the fifteen lacked coordinated training, their attacks merged seamlessly into a unified force that surged toward the criminals’ Mountain Shattering Strike without interference.
BOOM!
The two cataclysmic forces collided midair. Shockwaves blasted outward, hurling stone fragments and choking dust across the battlefield. The deafening soundwave rolled for miles as energy surges swept thousands of feet.
Su Yinxue’s group felt an immense power smash into their chests like warhammers. Blood sprayed from their mouths as they were flung dozens of zhang backward.
Several disciples died instantly. Duan Chenfeng and Yu Minghong crashed to their knees, vomiting blood, their true qi in turmoil. Only Su Yinxue and Jiang Ruchao managed to stagger up, though equally disabled by disordered energy.
At the collision’s epicenter, Ye Yun stood unmoved but pale, blood staining his lips. Murong Wuhen had retreated three paces, his ethereal Grinding Disc shattered into a dull half-foot millstone. Jiang Shui Ning fared worst – thrown ten steps back, she knelt spewing blood, trembling too violently to rise.
“One punch breaks you? I overestimated your strength.” Jun Ruolan stood calmly, pure as a white lotus.
Ye Yun glared coldly, suppressing the stabbing pain of his chaotic true qi.
Murong Wuhen rasped, “Your criminals are spent too! That strike drained them completely.”
Jun Ruolan smiled. “True, but this was merely efficient crowd control. Does it matter if they rest briefly? Look at you – could you stop me now?”
“Test that theory,” Murong Wuhen snarled.
The woman glided forward, stopping ten zhang away. “You might have desperate tricks, but I’ll wait. After one incense burn, they’ll attack again. Weak as you are, even a lesser strike will finish this.”
Ye Yun spat blood. “Waiting’s your mistake. Kill us now.”
“We’re sect siblings who took the outer disciple trials together,” Jun Ruolan replied sweetly. “I’ll grant you half an incense longer.” She folded her hands, making no move to attack.
Ye Yun snorted, eyes downcast – but hidden within them flickered triumph. Deep in his brow, a black and white light began rotating silently.
