Chapter 277: The Immortal Spirit Stone
“Seems everyone’s here!”
Murong Wuhen’s gentle voice rang out, yet it thundered through the air.
In a flash, Jun Ruolandashed onto the pile of fragments, four male disciples trailing behind her. They eyed Murong Wuhen warily.
“Senior Brother Wuhen must’ve deepened his soul insights to detect us so quickly,” Jun Ruolan remarked, her tone distant as if drifting from the heavens.
Murong Wuhen glanced at her. “You didn’t even bother hiding. Sister Shui Ning of Lan Yue Peak, though—how long have you been skulking here?”
Giggles erupted from behind the rubble. A slender girl peeked out, her face flawless, features delicate. Jiang Shui Ning leapt up, her pink robe fluttering like a blossom.
“Sister Shui Ning still fusses over her looks even in the Soul-Cutting Mountains,” Murong Wuhen teased.
“Are you saying I’m ugly without makeup?” Jiang Shui Ning pouted.
Murong Wuhen shrugged. “What’s beauty to me? Today’s rose is tomorrow’s bones.”
Jiang Shui Ning’s smile vanished. Her icy voice cut through the air. “You cross the line, Murong Wuhen.”
Ignoring her, he called out, “Senior Sister Yinxue! Junior Brother Ye Yun! Show yourselves!”
Ye Yun and Su Yinxue exchanged grins before springing onto the rubble.
“Long time no see, Senior Brother Wuhen!” Ye Yun greeted cheerfully, clasping his hands.
“Indeed! I’ve missed our chats,” Murong Wuhen boomed, all warmth.
“We’ll catch up later,” Ye Yun said. “Why call me out? If it’s nothing urgent, I’ll be off.”
Murong Wuhen’s smile stiffened. “No need for games. We’re all here for what’s buried below.”
“Buried?” Ye Yun blinked. “What’s down there?”
He and Su Yinxue had only guessed at treasures beneath the pit. Yet Murong Wuhen spoke like he knew.
“So this is Shadowless Peak’s Ye Yun?” Jiang Shui Ning cooed. “Didn’t Uncle Su Hao tell you? Below lies a seal imprisoning spirit beasts. Break it, and the two Immortal Spirit Stones powering the seal are ours.”
Ye Yun’s mind reeled. Immortal Spirit Stones?
Common spirit stones held worldly energy, graded by purity. Top-grade stones were Ye Yun’s minimum now—yet even his Hualun Secret Vault hoard mightn’t sustain him to the Foundation Establishment Stage, thanks to the greedy Cleansing Immortal Heart Technique.
He’d brushed it off before, but Immortal Spirit Stones? Those surpassed top-grade, brimming with godly energy. No wonder they sustained the seal trapping monsters like the True Fire Flying Lion and that stone giant.
Ye Yun shot Su Yinxue a sidelong glance. Shock painted her face, eyes glittering.
Ye Yun suppressed his excitement and sighed, "Senior Sister Shui Ning, you ruined all the fun by saying it so bluntly. How disappointing."
Jiang Shui Ning giggled and turned to Murong Wuhen. "Murong Wuhen, everyone’s gathered now. What’s your plan?"
Murong Wuhen didn’t bother looking at her, his eyes still fixed on Ye Yun.
"Ye Yun, let’s split these two Immortal Spirit Stones between us. One each. Your thoughts?"
Ye Yun’s eyebrow twitched, though he feigned hesitation.
"Murong Wuhen! Why should you two get one each? What about me and Junior Sister Jun?" Jiang Shui Ning huffed, her pink dress fluttering despite the still air.
Jun Ruolan stood silently nearby, her starry eyes calm and detached as if this quarrel meant nothing.
Murong Wuhen finally glanced at Jiang Shui Ning. "What were your orders before entering the Soul-Cutting Mountains?"
"To survive and return alive, of course," she retorted.
"Exactly." Murong Wuhen’s voice turned icy. "Your only task is staying alive. Forget about the Immortal Spirit Stones. Just wait quietly for the spatial passage to reopen."
"Why?" Jiang Shui Ning’s shout echoed sharply.
"Because dead people can’t use treasures." Murong Wuhen’s aura sharpened like unsheathed steel. "They’re worthless to corpses."
Jiang Shui Ning’s face flushed with rage. "You think you’re guaranteed to survive this?"
Behind her, four Lan Yue Peak disciples stepped forward angrily. The elite female disciples chosen for this expedition all glared at Murong Wuhen – five beauties radiating lethal intent.
Murong Wuhen ignored them completely. Only Ye Yun mattered. That terrifying sword strike from Ye Yun still haunted him, a humiliation he’d never endured before. To prevent this from becoming a cultivation heart demon, he needed to crush Ye Yun personally.
Ye Yun meanwhile studied Jun Ruolan curiously. Compared to Murong Wuhen, this mysterious girl interested him more.
"Senior Sister Jun, we meet again," he smiled.
Jun Ruolan’s autumn-cool gaze swept over him. "Have we?"
"During the outer disciple trials. You scaled the cliff wall effortlessly. Quite memorable."
"Oh." She nodded indifferently. "I don’t recall. Trivial matters aren’t worth remembering."
Duan Chenfeng bristled, gripping his Breaking Sun Spear. Ye Yun blocked him with an arm.
"Since Senior Sister Jun forgot, no matter. About the stones – if Murong Wuhen and I take one each, any objections?"
Jun Ruolan tilted her head slightly. "I do."
"What?" Murong Wuhen’s voice dropped dangerously.
"Both stones are mine." Her lips curved in a delicate smile.
Murong Wuhen’s laughter exploded like thunder, murderous intent crystallizing around him.
"Junior Sister Jun. Explain yourself."
Unfazed by the killing pressure, Jun Ruolan repeated calmly: "Both. Immortal. Spirit. Stones. Mine."
Everyone stared. This elegant girl had just declared war on them all. Even Murong Wuhen’s arrogance paled in comparison.
"Enough gloom!" Ye Yun clapped cheerfully. "I’ll give my share to Senior Sister Jun. Problem solved!"
"Your share?" Jiang Shui Ning’s sweet voice dripped mockery. "Since when do you get a share, Junior Brother Ye Yun?"
Ye Yun chuckled and jumped down from the rubble pile. "No share? Fine. I’ll leave you to it-"
A crystalline voice froze them all:
"No one’s leaving."
The wind carried Jun Ruolan’s declaration across the stones.
