Chapter 233: Reunion
A group of young disciples clad in purple uniforms swiftly approached, stopping before Ye Yun in moments.
"The Trading Market strictly forbids violence. Those who break the rules face harsh penalties. Are you unaware of this?" the leader snapped, his voice icy and expression rigid.
Ye Yun looked up and froze. The purple-clad youth before him was familiar—he’d once worn black, but the small sword embroidered on his chest was identical.
"So it’s Senior Brother Qin Qianhan. Surprised you were transferred here," Ye Yun remarked, his tone casual.
The purple-clad disciple stared, then sneered. "You—Ye Yun, was it? To think you’d rise this far. A Qi refining stage disciple, inner sect member, and now daring to brawl here. Seems I wasn’t wrong about you."
Ye Yun shrugged. "Wrong about what? My boundless potential? My rapid progress?"
His attitude contrasted sharply with their first meeting, when he’d risked death to defy Qin Qianhan’s bullying. Now, his true strength rivaled the peak of Qi refining. Previously inscrutable, Qin Qianhan’s aura now revealed him as sixth or seventh level Qi refining—weaker than even the Fat and Thin Brothers.
"I saw your rebellious nature from the start—arrogant and wild. Good cultivation progress, but ‘boundless potential’? A joke." Qin Qianhan’s face darkened. As captain of the Trading Market’s second Enforcement Team, he stood stiffly.
"Ah, so that’s your opinion? Fine. I don’t care. Leave now, and we’ll consider our past settled," Ye Yun said dismissively.
Qin Qianhan’s voice turned frigid. "You attacked someone here illegally. Penalty: 2,000 Contribution Points or six months in the black cells. Choose."
"Since when is the fine 2,000 points?" White Xianxing blurted.
"As Enforcement Captain, I set penalties within legal bounds," Qin Qianhan retorted.
Ye Yun smiled. "Senior Brother Qin, your aura’s troubled lately. Beware impending misfortune."
Qin Qianhan frowned, uncomprehending.
"The points mean nothing, but I won’t pay someone I dislike. Leave now, or disaster might strike. Understood?" Ye Yun’s tone dripped contempt, shaped by witnessing the Fat and Thin Brothers flout rules.
Qin Qianhan trembled with rage. "In six months here, none have dared speak so—not even the Shi brothers! Let’s see what gives you this audacity!" He glared at the second-level Qi refining novice.
"Brother Bai, he wants to test me. Your thoughts?" Ye Yun asked, tilting his head.
White Xianxing shrugged. "Show him."
"But he’s the captain. Shouldn’t we spare his dignity?" Ye Yun feigned concern.
White Xianxing laughed. "Your Shi brothers never bothered. They outright ignore him."
"Ah! If my subordinates scorn him, I see." Ye Yun’s eyes narrowed.
Qin Qianhan looked baffled until an Enforcement disciple whispered to him. His face paled, jaw twitching.
"Ye Yun! What ties do you have with the Shi brothers?" he demanded, voice unsteady.
"None. Those fools insisted on calling me Big Brother. I humored them."
Qin Qianhan blanched. The Shi brothers were seventh-level Qi refining peaks, but worse—they had Elder Shi of Tian Shen Peak’s backing. Elder Shi, rumored at late Foundation Establishment Stage, was the Heavenly Sword Sect Leader’s right hand.
If Qin Qianhan harmed Ye Yun, those two might unleash chaos.
"Scared?" Ye Yun grinned. "Don’t be. They vowed to disown me if I got bullied without retaliating."
Qin Qianhan’s eyes glinted with murderous intent as he stared coldly.
"Since that’s how it is, don’t blame me for showing no mercy. Capture him now!"
The six disciples behind Qin Qianhan instantly rushed forward. Moving with seamless coordination, they surrounded Ye Yun in moments. A dark light briefly flashed in their hands, causing an inky black net to materialize above Ye Yun’s head, plunging downward.
"Brother Ye, watch out! That’s the Spirit Locking Net! Once caught, your true qi slows and your spirit dulls!" White Xianxing’s face paled upon seeing the black glow. He swiftly retreated ten zhang away.
Ye Yun glanced upward at the jet-black net and sneered, standing motionless.
A vicious glint flashed in Qin Qianhan’s eyes. How dare Ye Yun face the Spirit Locking Net without dodging? This top-grade spiritual weapon had been forged by the sect to restrain unruly experts in the Trading Market. Unless one reached the Foundation Establishment stage, resistance was futile.
White Xianxing grew frantic. He knew the net’s power—escape was nearly impossible once trapped. What was Ye Yun thinking?
Bystanders exchanged puzzled glances. Why didn’t Ye Yun evade the Enforcement Team’s net? What scheme was he plotting?
As doubt spread, a purple light shadow flickered in Ye Yun’s palm. The glow rippled like water.
With a slight lift of his Purple Shadow Sword, thunder rumbled around him. Crackling electricity erupted above.
"Thunderous Strike!" Ye Yun thrust his sword diagonally upward.
Countless lightning bolts exploded outward, colliding with the descending net.
Zzzzt!
Countless sizzling sounds erupted. When the lightning faded, the black net hung frozen midair.
Ye Yun blew softly toward it.
Instantly, the net disintegrated into ash. Black powder scattered on the mountain wind, drifting away like dense smoke.
The Spirit Locking Net—a top-grade spiritual weapon—had been obliterated by a single sword strike.
The crowd stood dumbstruck. Ordinary spiritual weapons couldn’t scratch the net, let alone reduce it to dust. How had Ye Yun done this? What cultivation level allowed such power?
All eyes froze on Ye Yun, minds blank.
"So this is the Spirit Locking Net? Pathetic." Ye Yun’s voice echoed across the Trading Market.
Qin Qianhan jolted back to awareness. Staring at the drifting ashes, he trembled violently. "Ye Yun! You’ve signed your death warrant! Destroying sect property means execution!"
"One top-grade spiritual weapon warrants execution? Your hatred runs deep, Senior Brother Qin." Ye Yun chuckled, unfazed.
Qin Qianhan’s face whitened. He now realized Ye Yun’s true strength far exceeded the second stage of Qi refining. That sword strike contained power beyond his comprehension. Had it targeted him, death and spirit annihilation would’ve followed.
He couldn’t grasp how Ye Yun’s cultivation had soared so high in under a year. One thing was clear—Ye Yun was now untouchable.
Yet as Enforcement Team captain, letting this slide would cost Qin Qianhan his position.
"Ye Yun," he forced out through chattering teeth, "you’ve violated Trading Market Articles Thirteen and Twenty-Four. Come with me."
Ye Yun blinked, then laughed. "Lost your mind, Senior Brother Qin? Leave now, and I’ll forget this."
"The current market overseer is Senior Brother Yang," Qin Qianhan pressed desperately. "Explain yourself to him."
"Senior Brother Yang?" Ye Yun’s eyebrows shot up. "Yang Hualong?"
"Exactly!"
Qin Qianhan nodded, feigning composure.
