Chapter 161: The Pinnacle of a Monster
Amidst the raging heavenly thunder, Ye Yun stood motionless without any visible injuries.
Though his silhouette appeared blurred, Duan Chenfeng and Yu Minghong still recognized him.
"How’s this possible?"
They stared at each other in disbelief, their minds reeling with shock. Surviving the heavenly tribulation completely unharmed defied all logic.
Within the crackling lightning, Ye Yun watched in astonishment as bolts poured into his outstretched palms like floodwaters through a breached dam, relentlessly surging into his body.
The destructive energy should have obliterated everything, even Tian Zhu Peak itself. Yet the heavenly tribulation’s power split evenly between Ye Yun and the Divine Feather Vulture King without spreading further.
Strangely, Ye Yun felt no pain. Instead, the invading lightning power rapidly transformed into Thunder Spirit Qi within him, merging and refining with his existing spiritual energy.
"How?" Ye Yun’s mind raced. The tribulation meant for a ninth-level pinnacle beast’s transformation – especially one as ancient as the 1,738-year-old Divine Feather Vulture King – should have been catastrophic. Without bearing half the tribulation himself, the vulture king couldn’t have survived.
Within moments, Ye Yun’s Thunder Spirit Qi multiplied in potency. A single strike from his Thundercloud Lightning Sword now carried fivefold its previous power.
"So this is transformation tribulation…" Ye Yun relaxed completely, letting the lightning reshape his energy.
The electric storm intensified rather than weakened. Yu Minghong and Duan Chenfeng lost sight of Ye Yun in the blinding glare, though the Divine Feather Vulture King sensed the tribulation weakening rapidly.
As thunder echoed across the peaks, a crackling figure emerged from the lightning – Ye Yun, electricity dancing across his body like living armor.
The vulture king gaped. A mere first level Qi refining cultivator surviving unscathed? Impossible!
"Brother Ye… you’re unhurt?" Yu Minghong stammered.
"Idiot!" Duan Chenfeng smacked the younger man’s head. "Can’t you see he’s gained power from this? Before entering the great tomb, he barely matched my cultivation. Now even Luo Wencheng at the pinnacle of Qi refining fell to his traps!"
The two exchanged weary glances. After witnessing Ye Yun survive the Nine Hells Spirit Settling mirror’s seal and now this, nothing could surprise them anymore.
As the last electric snakes faded from the sky, Tian Zhu Peak stood clear. The once fog-shrouded mountain now offered unobstructed views stretching hundreds of miles.
“Did you really survive the heavenly tribulation?” Duan Chenfeng stared at Ye Yun, his face still filled with disbelief.
Ye Yun glanced sideways. “Does it look fake? Want to summon another one for yourself?”
“Absolute monster!” Duan Chenfeng snorted.
Yu Minghong watched with reverence, strange flickers in his eyes betraying unspoken thoughts.
Ten zhang away, the Divine Feather Vulture King closed its eyes as Ye Yun stepped from the lightning-filled sky. The golden feather atop its head glowed with gentle golden light, wrapping around its body like a cocoon.
Golden down sprouted across its form, swiftly covering every inch. Having lived 1,738 years, the beast finally completed its heavenly tribulation and achieved spirit transformation.
The trio watched silently. A creature speaking human tongues before becoming a spirit beast – how much smarter would it grow now?
“How’re your wounds?”
Seeing the vulture deep in transformation, Ye Yun turned to his companions instead.
“I’m alright, Brother Ye.” Yu Minghong frowned at his bloodied chest.
“Bullshit! This hurts like hell!” Duan Chenfeng clutched his shoulder. “Hey Ye Yun, let’s butcher that bird before it finishes evolving. Vulture barbecue sounds good.”
Ye Yun pretended not to hear, producing a jade bottle. A pill rolled into his palm – jade-white with faint purple ripples across its surface.
“Purple Cloud Pill. Best healing medicine. Should fix you in half a day.”
Yu Minghong’s eyes widened. “The legendary pill that regrows flesh on bones? The life-saving miracle?”
“Probably.” Ye Yun shrugged.
Hands trembling, Yu Minghong accepted the pill and bowed deeply. He crushed it – swallowing half, sprinkling half on his chest wound.
The torn flesh visibly mended within breaths. Skin sealed completely without scars, though bone repair remained unseen.
“What sorcery is this?!” Duan Chenfeng gaped.
“Extremely rare, even in Great Qin Empire.” Yu Minghong tested his shoulder cautiously.
Duan Chenfeng snapped his fingers. “Purple Cloud Pill! Wait – isn’t this the Purple Extreme Divine Pill? Jin Kingdom’s royal vault holds only three!”
Yu Minghong nodded. “Originally from Purple Extreme Gate sect. The recipe spread, but few can make it – requires seventh level Foundation Establishment cultivators.”
“Tch! Royal brat like you should have better stuff.” Ye Yun tossed another pill.
Duan Chenfeng caught it gleefully. “Saving my own supplies for emergencies!”
Coolness spread through his shoulder as bones reassembled. “Incredible! This thing’s worth ten thousand top-grade spirit stones!”
Both men stared at Ye Yun’s jade bottle. How many treasures had he looted from that great tomb? Enough Purple Cloud Pills to share freely?
Monster. The guy redefined what being a prodigy meant.
