Chapter 138: Teal Token

Su Hao’s cultivation level was extraordinary. A single glance from him made Ye Yun and the others feel as though they’d fallen into an ice cellar, their bones chilled by an invasive coldness.

Ye Yun frowned slightly. After a moment’s hesitation, he said, “This treasure was seized from Luo Wencheng.”

“Luo Wencheng?” Su Hao stiffened, his eyes flashing with murderous intent. “Do you think I won’t kill you just because you’re Ling’er’s friend? Luo Wencheng is one of Ouyang Wentian’s top ten disciples, a seventh-level Qi refining stage cultivator. How could *you* take the Rainbow Cloud Dress from him?”

“It’s true! I saw Ye Yun kill Luo Wencheng myself!” Su Ling rushed forward, spreading her arms to shield Ye Yun.

Ye Yun gently pulled Su Ling to his side. “Even if Luo Wencheng’s cultivation was a full realm above mine, that doesn’t mean I couldn’t kill him. He was gravely injured, barely retaining a tenth of his power, yet still tried to murder us for the treasure. We had no choice but to fight back—did you expect us to let him slaughter all four of us?”

“He tried to kill Su Ling?” Su Hao’s voice turned icy.

“Yes! He knew you were my father but still attacked!” Su Ling stomped her foot. “He even said corpses in the Hualun Secret Vault never get proper burials!”

Duan Chenfeng coughed and added, “After killing him, we planned to give the Rainbow Cloud Dress to the sect. But Su Ling worried others might covet it if we claimed the reward openly. So we decided to present it directly to you, Peak Master.”

Su Hao’s sharp gaze lingered on Su Ling. “My daughter is clever, but I know her limits.”

Ye Yun and Duan Chenfeng exchanged uneasy glances. Su Hao clearly doubted their story—Su Ling wasn’t scheming enough to devise this plan.

“Enough.” Shui Qingxuan’s soothing voice cut through the tension. “Ling’er is safe, and the Rainbow Cloud Dress is ours. What matters is that Ye Yun saved her in the great tomb. The rest is trivial.”

Su Hao’s stern expression softened at his wife’s words. He turned to Ye Yun. “Show me your strongest attack. Prove your true strength.”

Ye Yun understood—without sufficient power, even Shui Qingxuan’s support wouldn’t save him. Luo Wencheng had been a top disciple nurtured with vast training resources. His death demanded explanation.

“Hold nothing back,” Shui Qingxuan urged, her starlit eyes seeing through his hesitation.

Nodding, Ye Yun summoned the Purple Shadow Sword. Purple light shadow cascaded from the medium-grade spiritual weapon as thunder rumbled.

“Divine Thunder Annihilation!”

Ye Yun struck like lightning. Electric snakes writhed as the blade conjured a storm cloud overhead. A purple Divine Thunder crashed toward Su Hao’s skull.

The Peak Master didn’t flinch. A mere glance froze the attack mid-air. “Disperse.”

The thunder exploded into harmless sparks, painting the sky in violet streaks.

Ye Yun stared, stunned. The Sixth-Level Foundation Establishment expert had dismantled his ultimate move without lifting a finger.

“Passable,” Su Hao remarked, scattering the remnants with a sleeve flick. “But your Thundercloud Lightning Sword’s third form lacks essence. Master it properly, and it might become noteworthy.”

"Father, now you see how remarkable Ye Yun is, don’t you?" Su Ling clapped her hands and giggled.

Su Hao ignored her, turning to Ye Yun with a slight nod. "I never imagined you’d comprehend Thunder Spirit Qi and acquire the Thundercloud Lightning Sword. Your seventh level of body refinement cultivation shouldn’t produce such spiritual power – enough to rival third-level Qi refining cultivators. Your physical training must be extraordinary."

Ye Yun bowed humbly. "You overpraise this disciple, Peak Master. I merely had better fortune than others."

"Don’t dismiss luck. On the cultivation path, fortune matters most. Without it, even geniuses with perfect resources achieve nothing." Su Hao waved dismissively. "We’ll set aside Luo Wencheng’s matter until I consult Ouyang."

"But Father!" Su Ling pouted, "You promised to drop this if Ye Yun proved he could defeat Luo Wencheng!"

Su Hao chuckled. "When did I say that? Even now, Ye Yun’s cultivation can’t overcome Luo Wencheng… unless Luo’s injuries left him with less than ten percent strength. Regardless, it’s improper for juniors to handle the Rainbow Cloud Dress. I’ll manage it."

"We appreciate your intervention, Peak Master," Ye Yun said solemnly.

"As Tian Zhu Peak disciples who completed the sect trial," Su Hao continued, "return to claim your rewards. Compensation for the Rainbow Cloud Dress will follow."

The three bowed gratefully. Su Ling tugged her father’s sleeve. "Can’t they stay at Shadowless Peak? Why send them back?"

"Sect rules apply," Su Hao chided. "Their return benefits Tian Zhu Peak’s annual ranking. Off you go."

Exchanging glances, Ye Yun and Duan Chenfeng smiled. "Visit us anytime at Tian Zhu Peak, Junior Sister. Under the Peak Master’s rule, distance means little. We take our leave, Peak Master, Aunt Xuan."

As they departed, Su Hao’s gaze lingered on Ye Yun. At the courtyard gate, Shui Qingxuan whispered, "He practices the Little Absorption Technique."

Su Hao’s eyes sharpened. "Ling’er! Escort the others. Ye Yun remains."

Pausing mid-step, Ye Yun frowned. Duan Chenfeng and Yu Minghong hesitated.

"Go ahead," Ye Yun reassured them. "If the Peak Master wished me dead, he’d have snapped his fingers."

Beaming, Su Ling bounced over. "Don’t provoke Father," she warned playfully. "His kindness hides stubbornness!"

Once others departed, Su Hao’s manner softened. "You cultivate the Little Absorption Technique?"

"Yes, Peak Master."

"Drop formalities. Call me Uncle since you’re Ling’er’s friend."

Ye Yun stiffened. "This disciple dares not."

Su Hao studied him. "Elder Zi taught you then. Surviving the Hualun Secret Vault earns you Tian Zhu Peak’s inner disciple status. Or join Shadowless Peak now."

Ye Yun shook his head. "Elder Zi awaits my return."

"Very well." Su Hao produced a teal sword-shaped token. "This grants access to Shadowless Peak. Go."

Catching the glowing token, Ye Yun bowed deeply before exiting.
