Chapter 137: Incomplete Sword Technique
Generally, those at higher cultivation realms could discern the levels of lower-stage warriors, but seeing through someone’s cultivation techniques and spiritual energy without any movement was another matter entirely.
To Ye Yun, body refinement stage cultivators had become nearly transparent – he could instantly gauge their true cultivation level unless they possessed rare treasures to conceal themselves. However, discerning their specific cultivation techniques or whether they possessed exotic spiritual energy remained utterly impossible.
Yet this ethereal woman Shui Qingxuan had instantly detected the lightning element within him and recognized his mastery of Little Absorption Technique. The revelation left Ye Yun thunderstruck, his eyes wide with disbelief.
Shui Qingxuan smiled gently. "Thunder Spirit Qi remains extraordinarily rare. Cultivation requires not just effort but destiny itself. In thousands of years, only a handful have ever succeeded."
Ye Yun stood solemnly, sensing she had more to share.
"Within Heavenly Sword Sect’s history," she continued, tucking a stray lock behind her ear, "there existed an Ancestor who mastered Thunder Spirit Qi. Though merely at Seventh Level of Foundation Establishment, he stood unyielding against Golden Core stage experts. A single sword stroke summoned howling storms – like celestial soldiers commanding heavenly tribulation."
"Foundation Establishment resisting Golden Core?" The youths exchanged incredulous looks. Though adjacent realms, the power difference resembled heaven and earth.
Yu Minghong blurted, "How’s that possible?"
"Mind your manners, Little Yu!" Su Lingxiu chided, hands on hips.
Shui Qingxuan’s gaze sharpened. "Your Thunder Spirit Qi flows orderly, Ye Yun. You’ve clearly practiced lightning element techniques."
"Aunt Xuan," he bowed, "I learned ninth-tier Celestial Technique Thundercloud Lightning Sword from Tian Zhu Peak’s Zang Wu Pavilion."
Her eyes flashed. "Why do you think it’s ranked ninth-tier? That Ancestor’s Thundercloud Lightning Sword made Golden Core experts retreat! Does that sound ninth-tier? The current version… is incomplete." A shadow crossed her features.
Ye Yun’s pulse quickened. "Where’s the complete version?"
He’d always felt something missing when unleashing Divine Thunder Annihilation – the third move. Now he understood.
"Only three moves remain," she sighed. "Divine Thunder Annihilation was reconstructed by later generations. The true techniques vanished with that Ancestor four centuries ago."
Disappointment flooded Ye Yun. Upon reaching Qi refining stage, true qi would amplify this technique tenfold. A complete version’s power became unimaginable.
"Enough standing," Shui Qingxuan suddenly laughed, skirts swirling gracefully. "Ling’er, bring your friends inside."
As Su Ling tugged Ye Yun’s arm, she whispered, "See? Even Father can’t hide from Mother’s eyes."
The trio gasped. Could she surpass Su Hao?
"Don’t believe her tales," Shui Qingxuan chuckled. "This sight isn’t cultivation-based, but an inborn gift. I myself… cannot cultivate."
Stunned silence followed. This woman seeing through Foundation Establishment experts… was ordinary?
Su Ling stomped playfully. "You ruined my boasting again! I’m finding Father!"
“No need to look. I’m here.”
A voice suddenly echoed from every corner of the void, ringing out without warning.
Su Ling froze, then yelped and darted behind Shui Qingxuan.
A flash of white light shadow crossed the Small Courtyard as a middle-aged man materialized. He appeared in his thirties or forties, handsome with sharp brows that tapered like swords. His white sword robe fluttered as he stood with hands clasped behind his back.
Ye Yun and the others instantly felt an overwhelming natural aura radiating from the man. Though not directed at them, the mere pressure made their knees tremble with instinctive awe.
“D-daddy…” Su Ling’s muffled voice came from behind Shui Qingxuan.
“Hmph. So you remembered to return.” The man’s cold snort carried clear irritation.
This was Su Hao, Leader of Shadowless Peak and Su Ling’s father.
“I only went out for two days! I’m back now, aren’t I?” Su Ling pouted, clinging to Shui Qingxuan’s sleeve.
“Two days?!” Su Hao’s voice spiked. “You went to the Hualun Secret Vault! Even I might not survive there!”
“But Ye Yun’s group helped me! We got out easily!” Su Ling chirped, peeking around her mother.
Su Hao’s glare shifted to Ye Yun’s party, his anger slightly abating.
“Peak Master.” The three youths bowed stiffly, hearts pounding.
“Enough formalities.” Su Hao inclined his head. “You brought Ling’er back. Tian Zhu Peak disciples, weren’t you? Surviving the Hualun trial is merit enough.”
The trio kept silent, heads lowered.
“Ling’er.” Su Hao’s tone turned icy. “Three months’ seclusion in the back mountain. Starting today.”
“Mom!” Su Ling shook Shui Qingxuan’s arm desperately.
The woman tapped her daughter’s forehead. “She’s home safe. Let this go – I’ll watch her next time.”
Su Hao’s sternness wavered. “Spoiling her will bring disaster,” he grumbled, though his shoulders slumped.
Shui Qingxuan simply smiled.
“Fine! Have it your way!” Su Hao threw up his hands.
“Yay! I knew you’d relent!” Su Ling bounded over to hug his arm.
“One more escapade and I’ll break your legs,” he warned without heat.
“Never again!” Su Ling’s eyes suddenly lit up. “Oh! We found something at Hualun!”
Su Hao raised an eyebrow. “Show me.”
After glancing at Ye Yun’s nod, Su Ling produced a crimson garment from her storage ring.
Su Hao’s breath hitched. “The… Rainbow Cloud Dress?!”
Even Shui Qingxuan rushed over, hands flying to her mouth.
“Told you they’d be shocked!” Su Ling crowed. “It’s real!”
Su Hao examined the glowing fabric, face paling. “Where exactly did you find this? Every detail. Now.”
“Not me! Ye Yun found it!” Su Ling pointed.
The Peak Master’s gaze pierced Ye Yun like twin blades. The Foundation Establishment stage cultivator’s pressure made the youth’s legs shake.
“Peak Master,” Ye Yun forced out, “I retrieved it from the third layer’s sea depths. Without Su Ling, I wouldn’t have recognized our sect’s lost treasure.”
“Missing barely a year…” Su Hao’s eyes narrowed dangerously. “How did it reach Hualun? Speak true, or die where you stand.”
Ye Yun tasted copper as murderous intent thickened the air.
