Chapter 120: Seizing the Body!

A powerful sucking force!

Ye Yun felt a tremendous pull locking his right hand in place. The spiritual power within him surged uncontrollably, flooding out through his palm and pouring ceaselessly into the Light Tower.

Panicked, Ye Yun tried to cut off the flow and yank his hand back. But no matter how he struggled, his spiritual power refused to obey, gushing out like surging waves.

In moments, his spiritual power was nearly drained. The Light Tower showed no sign of stopping—it seemed determined to devour even his flesh and essence.

With his spiritual power exhausted, his essence began streaming toward the tower. At this rate, Ye Yun would be reduced to a lifeless husk, his spirit extinguished, in less than half the time it took a stick of incense to burn.

“Finally, someone enters!”

A deep, aged voice suddenly echoed through the stone chamber.

Ye Yun felt the suction on his palm weaken slightly. He strained to break free, but his hand remained stuck.

“Who are you?” Ye Yun rasped, his voice frail.

“Young fellow, you invade my tomb and ask who I am? How amusing.”

The voice emanated from the Light Tower itself.

Shock gripped Ye Yun—this was the master of the Hualun Secret Vault, the Golden Core expert said to have perished a millennium ago.

“Impossible! Didn’t you die a thousand years back?”

“Had I not ‘perished,’ how would you have bypassed the layers of restrictions to reach this seventh level? Only those with exceptional talent and fortune could stand before my Soul Turning Tower. And you—still in the body refinement stage yet wielding power rivaling the third level of Qi refining—are a perfect vessel.” The voice dripped with satisfaction.

“So this vault is a trap… all to steal a body for rebirth?” Ye Yun’s eyes narrowed in realization.

“Precisely.” The voice thrummed with anticipation.

Fury surged through Ye Yun, but his essence was nearly depleted. Though the sucking had paused, his palm remained fused to the tower.

The Hualun Secret Vault was a lie—a lure to draw promising cultivators into becoming hosts for a dead expert’s spirit.

“My layered restrictions ensured only the worthiest would reach me. Don’t despair, young fellow. After seizing your body, I’ll fulfill your deepest desires as reward.” The voice shifted eerily around the chamber.

Ye Yun responded with a bitter laugh.

“A millennium ago, I dominated realms spanning a hundred thousand miles,” Hualun continued. “Arrogance blinded me—until I learned even Golden Pill masters are but frogs at the bottom of a well. Why, even Nascent Souls are mere ants.”

“Nascent Souls… ants?” Ye Yun blurted.

“Of course! Beyond Nascent lies the Earth Immortal realm—true longevity, shining alongside sun and moon. I once crossed paths with an Earth Immortal. His distant glance obliterated my body in three days. Only my mastery of array restrictions preserved my soul here.”

Ye Yun gaped, momentarily forgetting his trapped hand. A single glance destroying a Golden Pill master? Unthinkable!

“For centuries I studied my errors,” Hualun pressed on. “Once I claim your body, I’ll rebuild my cultivation. Within a century I’ll reach Nascent Soul, then Earth Immortal in a millennium!”

When Ye Yun remained silent, Hualun added: “Ask your final questions. I’ll indulge you before your spirit fades.”

Ye Yun’s eyes snapped open. “Explain how to perfect the Qi refining breakthrough. And spatial laws.”

“Qi refining?” Hualun chuckled. “Stuck at late body refinement, are you? It’s simple: refine worldly spiritual energy into true qi. My Condensing Qi technique accelerates this. Accumulate enough true qi, and the breakthrough happens naturally—the first level of Qi refining differs little from the seventh level of body refinement.”

“Condensing Qi Sorcery? There’s actually such a miraculous technique.” Ye Yun had never heard or seen such sorcery. Countless cultivators were trapped between body refinement and Qi refinement. Now, just one technique could convert spiritual energy from the world into true qi? If this spread, how many would reach the Qi refining stage?

“This is an ancient unorthodox method, merely an aid. Since I’m idle, I’ll share it before you die,” Hualun said with a faint smile. The Light Tower flickered twice.

Ye Yun felt a strange aura pierce his mind.

Instantly, information about the Condensing Qi Sorcery appeared in his thoughts.

It was indeed simple—follow the steps, refine energy, fill with true qi, and naturally advance to the Qi refining stage.

“What about spatial laws?” Ye Yun pressed.

“Young fellow, if I had another choice, I’d take you as my disciple. Your willingness to die for enlightenment is perfect for cultivation,” Hualun sighed. “Spatial laws are too complex. Remember four characters.”

“What?” Ye Yun blurted.

“Time-space unity!”

“Meaning?” Ye Yun frowned.

“Time and space are one. To master spatial laws, you must grasp time. Together, they forge the strongest spatial arrays. At their peak, you’ll traverse eras, omnipotent.” Hualun’s voice turned grave.

Had Hualun not obsessed over spatial laws, her cultivation wouldn’t have stalled at the Golden Core stage. With her talent, she’d have neared the Earth Immortal realm. But time-space study devoured her years.

Now, if reincarnation succeeded, she’d easily reach Nascent Soul or even Earth Immortal.

“Time-space unity!” Ye Yun muttered, enlightenment dawning.

“Such talent, such a tempered body—you’re perfect for seizing. Stop resisting. Let me erase your soul.” Amusement tinged Hualun’s words.

A cool aura needled through Ye Yun’s palm, invading his body.

Where it spread, his flesh turned numb and foreign. It seized his limbs, then his five internal organs, half his torso, coiling toward his brain.

Ye Yun despaired. The Heart of Immortals and Demons remained silent despite his pleas. After all his struggles—crossing mountains, enduring three wretched years as a servant disciple, finally becoming an outer disciple—would his path of cultivation end here?

No!

He roared soundlessly, only his head remaining. The cool aura crept into his skull.

Consciousness fading, he glimpsed his dead mother and unknown father. His life flashed—thorns, Heavenly Sword Sect, the Heart’s acquisition…

“Heart! Where are you?” his mind screamed.

Suddenly, his brow throbbed. Light erupted—a familiar vision: golden-armored warriors flooding the land, murderous intent crushing mountains, boiling rivers.

Even Ouyang Wentian paled compared to their might. Yet a couple in black and white clothing strolled calmly through the army.

Earth Immortals? Only that realm held such power.

Heart! Your master commands this! Help me!

Clarity struck. Black and white light exploded from his mind, banishing darkness like the blazing sun.
