Chapter 118: Earthly Breath

If not for Hua Yicheng, Ye Yun’s grasp of spatial laws would never have opened the passage to the sixth level. Even after cracking the spatial magical array, unlocking it required Hua family blood.

Ye Yun watched as Hua Yicheng stepped forward and pointed into the air. Four lights emerged on the white jade pillar, expanding until a droplet-shaped hole formed at their center.

Hua Yicheng glanced back, hesitating, but Ye Yun’s smile made him turn away. With a frown, he flicked a drop of blood into the hole.

The four lights erupted, releasing spiritual energies: ice energy, flames, lightning, and dark soil. The four elements—ice, fire, lightning, and earth—swirled before them.

“Unlocking two restrictions opens the sixth level,” Hua Yicheng explained.

Ye Yun nodded. Hua Yicheng’s hand flashed as dark energy shot into the soil. A dull thud echoed, and the soil exploded toward them.

Ye Yun caught it, staggering under its sudden weight. The clump felt like a massive stone.

Hua Yicheng’s eyebrow twitched as Ye Yun steadied himself.

“What is this?” Ye Yun asked, hefting the soil.

“Earthly Breath. Rare material for spiritual weapons. It refines earth element energy,” Hua Yicheng replied.

Ye Yun’s eyes gleamed. Storing it in his Thunder Sound Metamorphosis ring, he noted no added weight—proof of the ring’s marvel.

Hua Yicheng’s lips tightened. The fifth layer’s treasures—Purple Shadow Sword, white jade pillar, Earthly Breath—were now Ye Yun’s.

“Show me those two elements you mentioned,” Ye Yun said.

Hua Yicheng flicked a flame into the fire element. It roared before shrinking into a fragile flicker.

Ye Yun held the wavering flame.

“Purple with gold—Illusory Fire. Golden Pill masters use it to forge pills and weapons. Fire yet not fire,” Hua Yicheng muttered.

“Illusory Fire?” Ye Yun pocketed the flame into his ring.

“This isn’t a spiritual weapon. How could it be stored…” Hua Yicheng instinctively blurted out, then abruptly clamped his mouth shut mid-sentence.

Ye Yun instantly grasped the implication – the Illusory Fire couldn’t be stored in spiritual weapons, requiring another collection method.

“Brother Hua, how should we collect it then?” Ye Yun asked cheerfully.

Hua Yicheng mentally cursed his loose tongue. Though he knew neither of them could obtain the Illusory Fire, he’d rather see Ye Yun fail too. His slip-up now threatened to hand the prize to the younger man.

Dark expression flickering, Hua Yicheng growled, “Impossible. Only fire element cultivators can absorb it. No other way exists.” He lied through his teeth, anticipating Ye Yun’s disappointment. If I can’t have it, neither will you.

Ye Yun studied the dancing flame in his palm. Suddenly, his hand erupted in flames that devoured the Illusory Fire completely.

“Like this?” He turned to Hua Yicheng innocently.

The Hua family head gaped. This supposed Heavenly Sword Sect outer disciple possessed cunning, exceptional cultivation level, inhuman physical strength – and now fire element mastery? How old was this monster?

No ordinary disciple could achieve this. Not the cultivation, not the physique, certainly not elemental mastery. Hua Yicheng bitterly acknowledged his fatal miscalculation – against any other cultivator, all treasures would’ve been his.

“Two restrictions remain broken. We await the passage,” Hua Yicheng muttered darkly.

“What if we break all four?” Ye Yun gestured at the remaining energy barriers.

“Then we ascend directly to seventh level. The sixth has no upward path.”

“Meaning the best treasures await above?”

“Naturally. But ice element’s brutally difficult, lightning element nearly impossible for centuries.”

Ye Yun smiled. His right hand crystallized into jade-like ice, pressing against the ice energy barrier. The obstruction collapsed into a pigeon-egg crystal in his palm.

Hua Yicheng stared dumbly. This monster had entered Hualun Hall alone – clearly mastering multiple elements. An outer disciple? More like the Heavenly Sword Sect’s future Sect Leader!

His shock deepened as Ye Yun stored the crystal in his Thunder Sound Metamorphosis ring. Lightning crackled around the youth’s fingers, purple electric snakes ripping the air.

Lightning element. The impossible element.

Hua Yicheng’s mind blanked. Centuries-old records shattered before this teenager. Why? Why him? Regret choked Hua Yicheng – he’d provoked Heaven’s chosen.

A lightning bolt condensed into a purple crystal humming with thunder. Ye Yun pocketed it cheerfully. “What a shame to skip sixth level’s treasures, Brother Hua. Shall we ascend?”

The defeated Hua family head shuffled after Ye Yun like a broken puppet. The four shattered barriers merged into a shimmering portal.

As they vanished through the gate, the white jade pillar regained normalcy. White Sha mist flooded the stone chamber.

Rumbles echoed through fifth layer as a staircase materialized. Figures emerged at its mouth.

“Restrictions everywhere, treasures nowhere. What fresh misery awaits here?”
