Chapter 115: Divine Sword Purple Shadow

On the white jade pillar, a lock hole appeared, flickering faintly.

The stone chamber was empty except for the jade pillar at its center. No precious treasures were visible on the pillar itself, and even if it were a treasure, it couldn’t be moved.

Yet the lock hole made Ye Yun smile. He pulled out the rusty key he’d obtained earlier, which had initially frustrated him—a key meant uncertainty, possibly leading to precious treasures, but could he reach them?

Now, it seemed the master of Hualun’s Secret Vault had designed this well. This layer was where the key would finally be used.

The lock hole was shrouded in a faint, shifting glow.

Ye Yun inserted the key and turned it gently. A pale green light bloomed across the white jade pillar.

The pillar’s color deepened steadily until it turned dark green.

Ye Yun waited calmly. The key’s purpose couldn’t just be changing the pillar’s color. A treasure equal to the previous layer’s had to appear.

As expected, the dark green pillar gradually turned transparent, revealing a three-foot-long object inside—something like a stick.

Ye Yun didn’t act hastily, watching patiently.

The pillar grew clearer until the treasure within was fully visible.

A sword!

A sword emitting a soft purple glow.

Even through the jade, Ye Yun sensed its immense power. The faint purple light alone pressed down on him subtly. If unleashed, its brilliance would surely blaze skyward, its might unimaginable.

Ye Yun’s eyes sparkled. He’d longed for a high-quality sword. His Obsidian Sword couldn’t handle the Thundercloud Lightning Sword’s power—after just two strikes, cracks had formed on its blade. A few more uses would shatter it.

This purple long sword was clearly exceptional. By his judgment, it was at least a medium-grade spiritual weapon, possibly even top-grade.

But Ye Yun hoped it was only a moderate medium-grade one. Returning to the Heavenly Sword Sect with a top-grade weapon would stir too much trouble. A mediocre medium-grade blade would attract less attention.

The key, now golden and rust-free, remained in the lock.

Ye Yun twisted it again. With a click, the pillar split open.

Instantly, purple light erupted like starlight, flooding the chamber with radiance, leaving no shadow untouched.

Overwhelming pressure surged like a tidal wave. Sword intent shot upward, fracturing into countless blades that sliced the air.

Sweat dripped from Ye Yun’s brow. Despite his strong will, he nearly buckled under the force.

Luckily, the pressure vanished as quickly as it came. The purple glow dimmed to a soft shimmer.

The purple long sword floated within the pillar, gleaming.

Heart racing, Ye Yun reached to grab it.

A white light shadow streaked from behind—sharp, cold.

“Drop it!”

A figure charged, sword arc aimed at Ye Yun’s back.

Ye Yun sidestepped right but kept reaching for the sword.

The white light shadow struck first. To seize the sword meant taking the hit. Its fierce, indestructible edge left Ye Yun no choice—he withdrew.

He dodged and pivoted, the Obsidian Sword flashing into view as thunder roared and lightning crackled.

Thundercloud Emergence!

Ye Yun seethed with frustration. The purple long sword had been within his grasp when this interloper appeared to steal it.

Clang!

Their blades met with a crystalline ring.

Ye Yun’s hand jerked as the Obsidian Sword shattered, its severed tip clattering to the floor.

"You?!" Recognition struck him – Hua Yicheng, who’d entered Hualun Hall before him.

Hua Yicheng blinked in disbelief. "Ye Yun? You survived?" The Dark Sea Demon should’ve devoured this man. How had he reached Hualun Hall’s fifth layer, which required dual elemental spiritual energy? More baffling – how had Ye Yun outpaced him here?

"Disappointed I lived, Hua?" Ye Yun’s brow furrowed slightly. Previously, their cultivation levels had differed greatly, but now at the Comprehending Qi Stage, the gap had narrowed. With triple spiritual energy fusion and his twin treasures – the Blazing Flame Explosion Ring and Ice Crystal Soul Lock Ring – victory wasn’t impossible.

"Damn you!" Hua Yicheng’s sword trembled with barely contained rage. "If you’ve looted the fourth layer…"

Ye Yun shrugged. "You took the top three layers. Fair’s fair."

"Surrender the treasures and live." Hua Yicheng’s blade shimmered with deadly intent.

Ye Yun chuckled. "After I helped breach the darkness to reveal this hall? I’ve earned my share."

"Then die." The sword’s arc lengthened ominously.

Ye Yun sheathed his broken blade with deliberate calm. "Actually… hand over your treasures, and I’ll spare you."

Hua Yicheng gaped. Had the fool gone mad?

"Deaf now?" Ye Yun’s voice turned glacial.

With a roar, Hua Yicheng’s blade erupted in white radiance. Ye Yun simply raised his hands – left ablaze with fire, right glittering with frost.

"Two medium-grade spiritual weapons?!" Hua Yicheng’s eyes narrowed covetously.

"Seal him!" Ye Yun commanded.

Inferno mountains collided with glacial needles against Hua Yicheng’s defensive arc… which barely rippled.

"Pathetic!" Hua Yicheng scoffed. Then understanding dawned as Ye Yun lunged past him, wrenching the purple long sword from its jade pillar and plucking a golden key from the lock hole.

"Purple Shadow stays!" Hua Yicheng howled.

The blade purred in Ye Yun’s grip, its vicious energy surging through him – lethal to weaker cultivators, but mere tickles to his tempered body. Essence blood bonded with the weapon, spiritual power flooding the connection until Purple Shadow became an extension of his will.
