Chapter 41: An Lan: What Are You Doing?! (2)
When Bai Lian tried to pick Yan Yue up, Yan Yue cooperatively wrapped her arms around Bai Lian’s neck.
However, her head seemed to have a mind of its own, refusing to budge after finding a warm and soft place. Bai Lian attempted to shift her, but Yan Yue remained stubbornly glued to her spot.
“Master Yan Yue, don’t do this,” Bai Lian muttered, pinching Yan Yue’s tummy.
But Yan Yue neither heard nor felt anything. There was no reaction.
With no other option, Bai Lian sighed. Though it wasn’t very comfortable, she decided to just go along with it for now.
Just as she was about to move, a sudden, loud boom erupted nearby.
“What?” Bai Lian turned sharply, startled.
At first glance, she saw An Lan standing awkwardly at the edge of the grass.
The “girl” in her light blue knee-length dress stood frozen, her hands raised and fingers twisting uneasily. At her feet lay a broken gravestone, about half a foot tall.
First reaction: щ(゚Д゚щ)
Second reaction: o(゚Д゚)っ!
Final reaction: (º﹃º)…
An Lan stood frozen in place.
Moments Earlier
She had carried the stone tablet with the determination of light piercing through darkness.
In her heart, she truly believed she was light—because her mission was to rescue Yan Yue in the most dazzling and heroic fashion possible, right in front of Bai Lian!
[God Doctor An Lan]
This was the title she envisioned. Bai Lian would finally realize just how amazing she was.
“My foolish eldest disciple, oh. Admire me! Admire me deeply and follow me without question!”
But…
An Lan never anticipated the scene that greeted her.
Yan Yue, nestled against Bai Lian’s chest.
What was this?!
At that moment, An Lan felt as though something had been ripped from within her.
Then, a searing ball of anger ignited in her heart.
“Keep your mouth shut!”
No, no! Stop thinking such foolish thoughts!
(#>д<)
Furious, An Lan clenched her fists.
How dare Yan Yue do this!
Boom!
An Lan exploded, her emotions surging.
But unlike others, her first thought wasn’t to rub her eyes and run away. That wasn’t her style.
She was the Immortal Heavenly Lord, after all—the one who had conquered all three thousand realms, unmatched in her glory!
An Lan charged forward like a mad bull, bloodshot eyes locking onto her target.
Her imposing manner was so overwhelming that Bai Lian froze, unable to move.
It was terrifying.
If An Lan could regain her full strength, she could likely kill any ordinary Immortal with just her presence alone.
A Change of Plan
Just as An Lan was about to charge further, she halted abruptly.
Wait!
She couldn’t just punch Yan Yue. It wasn’t because of any deep affection for her but because she thought ahead.
How could she possibly explain this to Bai Lian later?
To hit someone without reason would only undermine her dignity as a master.
But how else could she justify her actions?
“She bumped her face into your chest, and I got mad—is that so unreasonable?”
The thought sounded arrogant and unreasonable even in her own mind.
Bai Lian was a serious person, after all. If she knew what An Lan was thinking, their master-disciple relationship might never recover.
Before, An Lan wouldn’t have cared much about such things. But now…
Something had shifted. Something beyond her control, as though fate had entangled them in ways that transcended logic.
In the blink of an eye, An Lan devised a new plan.
She stepped forward, boldly grabbed Yan Yue’s waist, and lifted her off Bai Lian.
“What?”
Neither Bai Lian nor the unconscious Yan Yue could stop her.
Her strength was like a mountain, her spirit unshakable!
“Hey.”
An Lan placed Yan Yue gently on the ground. Then, kneeling beside her, she put on a worried expression and cried out:
“Yan Yue, how could you be so foolish?!”
Bai Lian’s Shock
Bai Lian blinked, utterly stunned by the abrupt change in An Lan’s demeanor.
“You piece of crap!”
Tears streaming, An Lan raised her hand as if to slap Yan Yue, but at the last second, she hesitated. Instead, she gently caressed Yan Yue’s cheek.
“You’re not a waste,” she murmured softly.
But deep down, she seethed: You’re just a conniving fool taking advantage of the situation!
An Lan clenched her fists tightly, recalling the time Yan Yue confessed her “guilt” while she pretended to be injured.
Although Yan Yue often caused mischief, An Lan had unknowingly taken the blame for much of it.
Well, some things she knew and tolerated, while others had escaped her notice entirely.
Yan Yue always called her a “bad woman,” but wasn’t Yan Yue herself far from innocent?
“Hit her!”
No. Restrain yourself.
Finally, An Lan stuck to her carefully crafted plan.
Driving Bai Lian Away
“Bai Lian, go and fetch that stone tablet! Quickly!”
Her voice was urgent and commanding.
“Right away!” Bai Lian responded, rushing off without hesitation.
Deeply moved, Bai Lian thought to herself:
What a touching friendship between Master An Lan and Master Yan Yue!
Despite their frequent quarrels, it was clear how much they cared for each other.
An Lan’s stern, urgent tone was further proof of her concern.
Master Yan Yue’s injuries might be on her body, but the pain was clearly in Master An Lan’s heart.
Truly touching!
