Chapter 34: The Great Yin-Yang Master White Emperor Bai Lian (1)
This night, Bai Lian was in a good mood.
She held a charcoal pencil in her hand, aimlessly scribbling on the white paper.
Sometimes it was a ▎, other times a ❀.
Such joy should have lasted all night, but then, a pungent smell of blood surged in from the endless black night outside the window.
It was sudden, and it caught her off guard.
“?”
Bai Lian paused, her head rising half in surprise, half in caution.
Could it be that one of the Martial Sisters is injured?
She was about to release her Divine Sense when a silhouette, shrouded in the night, approached her, moving against the light from behind the crooked neck tree.
Something was wrong.
Bai Lian was astonished.
From her figure, she could tell it was a woman.
Bai Lian immediately held her chest, ready to draw her weapon.
She wasn’t just being overly nervous.
Even without using her Divine Sense, she was now certain the person wasn’t from the Duxian Sect.
There could only be one reason for this.
Her memory was exceptional.
[No one knows the female disciples of the Duxian Sect better than I do!]
Since her brain had been “opened” and her memory had become unprecedented, Bai Lian could recall the names, appearances, and figures of every female disciple of the Duxian Sect above the Foundation Establishment Stage.
To put it simply, even Tong Yao was inferior to her in this regard.
Bai Lian was sure that this woman was not from the Duxian Sect.
Her eyes flickered with a light tremor.
Under the shadow of the dense trees, the person finally stepped into the light.
It was Yue Wuyang.
Yue Wuyang looked quite different from their first encounter.
When they first met, Yue Wuyang stood barefoot in the air, her demeanor oozing arrogance, disguised beneath a teasing attitude.
Now, she lowered her head slightly, clenched her teeth, and her eyes glistened like clear waves, exuding a pitiful aura.
Her clothes were even worse.
They were full of holes, with scorch marks curling at the corners. The skin exposed through those holes was half black, half purple. Upon closer inspection, it was covered in fine, dreadful cracks, as if she had endured torturous pain.
Bai Lian involuntarily felt a surge of compassion.
But the question that lingered in her mind was: How did Yue Wuyang end up here?
It wasn’t that Yue Wuyang couldn’t come, but how had she avoided the perception of Master An Lan?
Bai Lian slowly let her hand drop.
Yue Wuyang didn’t seem like she was here to cause trouble, so it would be best to offer her a few comforting words first.
Just as she was about to speak, a system task popped up.
—
[Task 1: Ask with a look of confusion, “Who did this?” (Reward: Lingxiao Xianzong)]
[Task 2: Grab Yue Wuyang’s hand with a concerned look and say, “What happened to you?” (Reward: +3 Soft Skill)]
[With a cold expression, say these caring words, “Oh, your wound seems pretty severe. Shall I help treat it for you?” (Reward: a high-grade Magic Tool – Seven Ultimate Bow)]
—
“…”
Bai Lian’s mind was filled with questions.
While the risks of these tasks posed little threat to her, they were certainly strange.
The risk of being overly polite seemed greater than pretending to be cold. Why was that?
Bai Lian thought of Xia Qingqing, thought of the Future Mirror, and then thought of Yue Wuyang.
It’s alright… I’m just scared.
Is this the allure of an R18 world?
After careful consideration, Bai Lian chose the safer option: Task 3.
She didn’t want to start a conflict with Yue Wuyang at Qiongming Peak.
It wasn’t that she feared being killed, but if a fight broke out, it might harm the flowers and plants.
Qiongming Peak was already poor enough. If it got any worse, she wouldn’t be able to afford to take care of her Martial Sisters.
Come on, Bai Lian!
Bai Lian stood up, her face expressionless and cold, like a sculpture.
“Alas.”
But she showed neither a sigh nor any surprise.
“Oh, your wound seems pretty severe…”
After Bai Lian spoke, Yue Wuyang, who had been about to apologize and beg for Bai Lian’s forgiveness, froze.
It was a caring phrase.
But the tone of Bai Lian’s voice…
Even an amateur actor wouldn’t have been so “flat” when delivering her lines!
And this injury was self-inflicted.
Was Bai Lian mocking her?
“Got it!” Yue Wuyang understood.
Bai Lian was deliberately suppressing her and sending the message:
[I am very unhappy with you!]
