Chapter 33: Yet, Bai Lian Had Already Seen Through It All (1)
October, cold night.
Bai Lian proudly showcased her superior cooking skills.
The Martial Sisters walked into her room with an air of composure, but when they came out, each wore a bright, happy face, their stomachs bulging in satisfaction.
A while later.
Bai Lian stood in front of the window, staring blankly at her fingers.
Sometimes they felt as soft as noodles.
Other times, they suddenly stiffened and became as hard as iron.
“Humph.”
With a proud smirk, Bai Lian clenched her left index finger.
She gave a gentle twist, and her finger started spinning like a propeller.
It was much faster than an electric fan.
Her agility was impressive enough to make anyone exclaim, “Oh my God!”
Three years… and then three more years.
In the first three years after arriving in this world, Bai Lian’s cooking had been just average.
Three years later, however, her cooking skills were no less than those of famous chefs.
“What a surprise!”
Bai Lian felt a deep sense of emotion welling up inside her.
After a moment of reflection, she recalled the conversation she had with the jade rabbit.
She wanted to find more common points between the jade rabbit and Yaoguang Star Lord.
But sadly, the legends the jade rabbit knew were no different from what Bai Lian had already heard before.
The jade rabbit, looking puzzled, said, “I have no memory of Yaoguang Star Lord, and…”
As they continued to talk, the jade rabbit’s mood grew more somber.
Ever since stepping into Bai Lian’s “Dreamland” in the Flying Fog, the jade rabbit had been eagerly waiting for the day she could break through to the Soul Changing Stage and gain the ability to transform.
In theory, this should have been an easy feat, considering that the jade rabbit had a Nascent Soul Stage cultivation base at such a young age.
However, despite consuming countless grasses, her cultivation base remained stagnant, as if it had been locked away.
Alas, the jade rabbit could only feel sorrow.
Especially when she saw how quickly Bai Lian’s Martial Sisters were advancing in their cultivation.
At first, the jade rabbit had been full of confidence.
But now…
If this continued, in just a few years, she would be completely overtaken.
She wanted to try other methods, but they were futile—after all, she was still a rabbit.
Would Bai Lian ever fall in love with a rabbit?
Even if Bai Lian was a bit of a pervert…
People and rabbits… it shouldn’t be, could it?
“Ouch!”
The more she thought about it, the sadder the jade rabbit became. She even lost interest in eating the grass.
Bai Lian gently teased the jade rabbit’s ears.
“Don’t worry, I’ll go find my master soon and ask her about the situation.”
“Haw.”
The jade rabbit nodded gloomily.
Later that night, after tidying up her room, Bai Lian began walking toward the forbidden area.
There was no moon tonight, only the cool breeze blowing.
Stepping through the hazy shadows, she felt unusually relaxed.
Such peaceful moments were rare—few and far between throughout the year.
Often, the scenery we see depends more on our mood than the actual surroundings.
As the saying goes, “Everything is possible.”
If there’s nothing to worry about, it truly is a good time to be in the world.
Through the bamboo forest, Bai Lian reached the entrance of Master An Lan’s cave.
Just as she was about to step inside, a purple figure emerged.
“Master Yan Yue.”
Bai Lian nodded in greeting.
“Oh, it’s Bai Lian.”
Yan Yue didn’t say much. She seemed lost in thought, walking out of the bamboo forest with her head down.
“…”
Had she been scolded by her Shifu again?
By the way, the last time Bai Lian visited Zhuyan Peak, she had noticed that Master Yan Yue seemed to be in an unusual state.
Bai Lian entered the cave.
At this moment, An Lan was absentmindedly munching on a cornstick.
Hearing the footsteps, she turned around and wiped away the crumbs stuck to the corner of her mouth with her thumb.
Bai Lian subtly asked about Yan Yue’s situation.
“Master, I noticed Master Yan Yue doesn’t seem to be in a good mood. Has she been dealing with any trouble lately?”
An Lan shook her head directly, “How would I know? Do you think I’m the type to peek into other people’s business?”
“…”
This…
The system didn’t prompt her, but Bai Lian automatically provided the task options.
1. Yes
2. No
How should I decide?
“No.”
Bai Lian spoke with certainty.
That was the right answer.
An Lan nodded with a dignified expression. If it weren’t for the half-chewed corn stick in her hand, she would have looked even more imposing.
“Why are you here today?”
Bai Lian instantly voiced the jade rabbit’s worries.
Sheryl Liwah
An Lan, you always peek at Bai Lian though…
