Chapter 32: Is the Wise Person Really Me? (2)
She walked past with a grim expression.
Before she even reached them, Su Youwei gritted her teeth and said, “I won’t give up easily, no matter what.”
Su Hong Yi remained silent.
Su Youwei pulled out the exclusive jade slip and a blank paper book.
This jade slip had a “local area network” feature, enabling online chess and connecting to public book libraries.
She used the transcription spell to photocopy a postpartum care book from the medical library.
Though she quickly abandoned the idea of dueling with the fourth Martial Sister, she wasn’t one to back down easily. This book was her way of declaring war!
Su Youwei stormed toward Yu Ying’s room, her anger rising.
Before she could even knock, the door suddenly swung open.
Yu Ying stood there, staring blankly at the people outside. “The Third Elder Martial Sister, ah, and the Second Elder Martial Sister, do you need something from me?”
“Hum!” Su Youwei let out a cold grunt, gripping the postpartum care book tightly, planning to throw it at Yu Ying.
Take it!
Suddenly, a cry rang out from behind.
“What are you doing?”
Someone was coming. It was Bai Lian.
She was followed by the jade rabbit and Ling Xuan, who was walking behind and yawning.
It wasn’t a coincidence.
Bai Lian had been asking the jade rabbit about the legend of Yaoguang Star Lord when a system task popped up.
Task 1: Treat it as if nothing happened.
Task 2: Immediately head to the top of Qiongming Peak.
Both tasks seemed low-risk, but considering they involved Qiongming Peak, she chose Task 2, which offered a reward of Chess +1.
“Oh, um…”
The moment Su Youwei saw Bai Lian, all the pent-up frustration drained away, as if a stream had washed it all away.
She lowered her head, feeling completely drained—physically and mentally—as though she had done something wrong.
The atmosphere grew tense.
Bai Lian turned her attention fully to Yu Ying.
“Has your stomach already emptied?”
Her eyes sparkled. The protagonist was indeed the protagonist.
Bai Lian affectionately patted Yu Ying’s head. “Very fast!”
She had thought it would take days for the Fourth Martial Sister to fully absorb the energy.
“It looks like you’ll break through to the Nascent Soul Stage in three to five days. Our Qiongming Peak has hope of winning next year’s competition!”
Bai Lian then turned to stimulate the second and third Martial Sisters. “You must also work hard, or you’ll be left behind by the Fourth Martial Sister!”
“Ah…”
Xiao Jinse was a little stunned. “The Nascent Soul Stage?”
Yu Ying smiled shyly. “This is all thanks to Elder Martial Sister…”
She worried that if she stood out too much, the Elder Martial Sisters might get jealous, so she quickly explained, omitting the part about signing a contract with Elder Martial Sister Bai Lian.
“…”
Xiao Jinse froze.
Su Youwei felt a chill run down her spine.
Wait.
She glanced at Xiao Jinse, a bold guess forming in her mind. Was all of this part of the Second Elder Martial Sister’s plan?
Pa ta!
At that moment, her right hand went limp, and she dropped the postpartum care book to the ground.
“Huh?”
Yu Ying bent down and picked up the book, pointing to the cover.
“Elder Martial Sister, this…”
Su Youwei was losing her mind.
She felt as though she was about to break apart. In a panic, she snatched the book back and turned away, practically running away.
But in the end, she held back.
“I, I…”
Her lips trembled, and she could barely speak.
She absolutely couldn’t tell the truth!
“Yes, I have an aunt. You all know her, she’s very nice to me. She lives in a small town at the foot of the mountain and is getting married soon. I’m looking at books on this topic so I can take care of her properly later.”
Su Youwei’s voice shook as she spoke.
As she said this, she turned toward Su Hong Yi.
Sister Hong Yi, save me!
Su Hong Yi reluctantly nodded toward Yu Ying and Bai Lian.
After all, they were all part of the same group.
“Su Youwei heard that the Fourth Martial Sister was being bullied outside, so we came here immediately to visit her.”
That’s right, that’s how it is!
She nodded slightly, giving Xiao Jinse an “intimidating” glare.
If you dare say anything reckless, I’ll deal with you today!
Xiao Jinse immediately looked away.
Oh, so that’s the story!
Bai Lian was even more pleased.
The unity among the Martial Sisters surpassed her expectations.
It seemed she had made great progress in fostering harmony at Qiongming Peak.
Making Qiongming Peak great again was more than just empty words now!
“I’m treating you to a big dinner tonight!”
Bai Lian was in a good mood and was eager to show off her cooking skills to fill the bellies of all the Martial Sisters.
“Yay!”
Ling Xuan, with her peculiar obsession with food, eagerly raised her hand.
She ran to Su Youwei’s side and clung to the Third Elder Martial Sister, saying, “Elder Martial Sister, Elder Martial Sister, I want to come to your aunt’s banquet too!”
“Go, all of you go.”
Su Youwei smiled, wiping the sweat from her forehead.
Yu Ying then walked between her and Xiao Jinse. “Elder Martial Sister, thank you for caring about me.”
“Oh, no need to thank me.”
Xiao Jinse fell into deep thought.
Although it seemed that the Fourth Martial Sister had gained the most on the surface, after some reflection, it appeared she had received the most hidden rewards.
She had successfully elevated the prestige of the Second Elder Martial Sister in the eyes of the Fourth Martial Sister.
And she even received some rare medicinal pills from Master An Lan. Those pills were extremely valuable.
“Am I the final winner?”
Wonderful!
