Chapter 31: The Martial Sisters Unite! (1)
“Did you say Elder Martial Sister?”
Yu Ying softly cooed at her round, plump belly a few times.
Xiao Jinse was frozen in place. No matter how Yu Ying called out to her, there was no response.
“…”
Yu Ying had originally planned to go back to her room to digest the vast amount of Flying Swords that Elder Martial Sister Bai Lian had poured into her body in one go.
The amount was just overwhelming.
But, she couldn’t shake the worry about Xiao Jinse.
Though the Second Elder Martial Sister didn’t treat her all that well, she was still her Second Elder Martial Sister!
And so, Yu Ying made a decision.
Her gaze became firm. As long as there was no intense exercise, the Flying Swords that had merged into her body wouldn’t leak out.
She didn’t believe that those things were more important than the Second Elder Martial Sister.
In fact, they were gifts from Elder Martial Sister Bai Lian, and she didn’t want to waste a single one.
—
In the chill of early winter, Yu Ying took two steps forward and stood in front of Xiao Jinse.
“The Second Elder Martial Sister?”
She extended her hand, waving it gently in front of Xiao Jinse’s eyes.
Xiao Jinse still didn’t respond.
Then, Yu Ying placed her index finger on Xiao Jinse’s cheek and poked it.
No response.
Xiao Jinse’s expression was dull, her body trembling lightly.
What was going on?!
“Cheer up, the Second Elder Martial Sister!” Yu Ying said urgently, pressing down on Xiao Jinse’s shoulder and shaking her forcefully.
They were close. Very close.
With just a small movement, their bodies would almost touch.
However…
Yu Ying’s stomach bumped into Xiao Jinse first.
And then, Xiao Jinse was finally awakened by the thunderous energy that filled Yu Ying’s stomach.
She quickly looked around.
乂(゚Д゚三゚Д゚)乂
Who am I? Where am I? What am I supposed to do?
“Second Elder Martial Sister!”
Yu Ying screamed once more, and finally, Xiao Jinse seemed to snap out of her trance.
But her expression remained still, while her heart was tossed in turbulent waves.
Xiao Jinse let out a bitter smile.
Not too long ago, she had made a decision to put effort into cultivating and becoming a Martial Sister that Elder Martial Sister Bai Lian would be proud of.
But with the Fourth Martial Sister’s words, all of those hopes had been dashed.
They were gone.
There was no future left.
Xiao Jinse’s hand moved up, wiping away the tears that threatened to spill.
She felt as though tears were about to flood, but she couldn’t let them.
At least not in front of the Fourth Martial Sister.
For a moment, Xiao Jinse thought about taking the Blowing Snow Sword and smashing the Fourth Martial Sister into pieces.
But whenever she recalled the warmth of when Elder Martial Sister Bai Lian had accompanied her back to Castle Peak City, all of those negative thoughts were quickly crushed.
Enough.
She couldn’t do anything to make Elder Martial Sister Bai Lian sad.
Xiao Jinse sniffed and asked, “How many months has it been?”
“Huh?”
Yu Ying was speechless.
What did she mean by “How many months”? What was this question about?
She lowered her head in thought for a moment and then suddenly realized that the Second Elder Martial Sister must have been asking her how long it had been since she joined Qiongming Peak.
She meekly replied, “Second Elder Martial Sister, it’s been five months.”
BOOM!
The thunderbolt hit Xiao Jinse’s heart like a wrecking ball.
She stumbled, nearly falling flat on her face.
Wheeze——
Xiao Jinse took a sharp breath, and a violent tremor ran through her. It left her feeling lifeless.
Five months?
Didn’t that mean they had… “done that” before the Fourth Martial Sister even arrived at Qiongming Peak?
Sobbing.
Why was fate so cruel?
Xiao Jinse couldn’t even find the right words to express her sorrow.
In five months, the baby would be born. Then Qiongming Peak would become more lively.
But the hustle and bustle would belong to Elder Martial Sister Bai Lian, the Fourth Martial Sister, and the master.
While Xiao Jinse would have nothing.
So be it.
Xiao Jinse slowly closed her eyes.
She had decided that she would go to bid farewell to Master An Lan later, and not return to Qiongming Peak until the next major competition in the sect.
Why bother meeting?
It would only add to the sorrow.
Oh, Xiao Jinse, your life is destined to be filled with misery and hardship!
—
At this point, even though Yu Ying was slow to catch on, she noticed something was wrong with Xiao Jinse’s mood.
She asked worriedly, “Second Elder Martial Sister, are you alright?”
Xiao Jinse shook her head.
It was fine.
She had to stand up for herself!
In addition to her sadness, she was somewhat grateful that the Fourth Martial Sister had been the one to reveal this.
If she had seen the Fourth Martial Sister give birth to the child with her own eyes, she probably would have fallen into the Path of Evil.
Xiao Jinse opened her arms and pulled Yu Ying into a tight embrace.
It was as if their bodies were merging into one.
“Fourth Martial Sister,” Xiao Jinse said, “Take care of yourself. During this time, you need to rest more. Cultivation is not something that can be rushed. Leave the heavier tasks to other disciples. Also, the weather is getting colder. Remember to wear more clothes so you don’t freeze. And, even though you’ve already reached the realm of controlling hunger, for your health, you should still eat some spiritual plants in moderation.”
As she spoke, Xiao Jinse gently patted Yu Ying’s back.
There was no need to make a big fuss. Let it be.
This nagging advice seemed to relax Yu Ying’s tense body.
She felt as if she had returned to her mother’s warm embrace.
Warm.
Fulfilled.
Just like when she hugged Elder Martial Sister Bai Lian.
Suddenly, Yu Ying felt her nose grow sour, and tears nearly streamed down her face.
