Chapter 27: I’d Like to Be Miss Bai Lian’s Dog!
The journey home for Bai Lian was anything but smooth.
She had originally planned to use the Teleportation Scroll to escape Heluo Country after leaving Canglong Garden. But soon after her departure, she encountered an old acquaintance.
The eldest princess!
That woman seemed to have regained some of her past confidence. But after a closer look, Bai Lian quickly dismissed her initial thoughts.
No, that wasn’t right.
The smile on her face was nothing but a facade, a protective shield.
The poor girl, so young, and yet burdened with a brother who could only be described as a “troublemaker.”
Unfortunately, there was little Bai Lian could do to help the eldest princess.
Guide her? She didn’t have that kind of ability.
Her medical skills had certainly improved recently, but curing the eldest princess’s heart disease… that was beyond her.
Forget it.
Bai Lian feared that offering her advice might only create an internal demon for the eldest princess. So, she simply used her body heat to offer comfort.
Gently, she placed her hands on the eldest princess’s shoulders and asked, “Did anyone give you trouble on your way here?”
The eldest princess shook her head.
She had come all this way simply because she was worried about Bai Lian.
After confirming that Bai Lian was okay, she quietly sighed in relief.
Soon, a wave of emotions overwhelmed her.
Despite facing a greater crisis, the first thing Bai Lian did when they met was express concern for her.
Bai Lian always does this.
If she hadn’t been raised in the royal family of Heluo and didn’t have to learn cultivation methods at Xingluo Fortress, the eldest princess would’ve rushed to join the Duxian sect without hesitation.
She really didn’t want to put in any effort anymore.
However, life in this world is full of constraints. It’s almost impossible to do everything according to one’s own will.
The eldest princess forced a faint smile.
Farewell, a thousand miles away.
After expressing her thanks, she took out a mirror that could predict the future.
“This thing no longer holds any use for me, but it might still be helpful to you.”
Bai Lian took the mirror.
At once, a new task appeared in front of her.
[Task 1: Accept with enthusiasm (Reward: +13 Hard Skill)]
[Task 2: Strictly Refuse (Reward: +2 Soft Skill)]
[Task 3: Pick up the mirror and throw it to the ground with force, saying “Die for me!” (Reward: Secret Medicine – Thousand Grinding and Ten Thousand Knocks)]
This mirror had some serious issues.
Bai Lian frowned slightly.
She just wanted to return to the Duxian Sect, not deal with any more problems.
Without hesitation, her attention shifted to Task 3.
The secret medicine wasn’t particularly valuable, roughly the same as a top-grade Magic Tool.
No, now wasn’t the time to focus on that.
Bai Lian glared at the mirror in her hand.
“Are you playing with the feelings of young girls, huh?”
She was genuinely upset.
“Die for me!”
Bang!
(Punishing strike, ノ(‵皿′ノ))
“Pah!”
The solid mirror shattered in Bai Lian’s hands.
Even though it was cracked, it didn’t affect the words that remained visible on the mirror.
[Motherfuc…]
Before the rest of the message could even finish appearing, Bai Lian angrily added another strike.
She lifted her foot and stomped down hard.
ヽ(#`Д´)ノ┌┛〃
With a tinkling sound, the mirror shattered into hundreds of pieces.
After stomping on the pieces several more times, the words on the mirror finally became clear.
[Your mom is my mom, from now on, you are my big sister!]
The eldest princess was left speechless.
“This…”
She had seen many things, but never this.
It wasn’t that the mirror had changed so quickly, but rather, Bai Lian’s response had been so wild and unexpected.
It was the first time the eldest princess had seen such a carefree, untamed side of Bai Lian.
She should have felt uncomfortable.
But instead, she remembered the way Bai Lian had pulled her out of the Moon Fragrance Pavilion.
“I’m a rude person!”
The words flashed in her mind, and her heart began to race.
Perhaps because she had suppressed her feelings for so long, the eldest princess suddenly realized that she actually liked this “rude person”!
“Are you okay?” Bai Lian asked suddenly.
After smashing the mirror, the eldest princess suddenly blushed and started breathing heavily, as if she had taken some sort of secret medicine.
Bai Lian muttered to herself, almost thinking she had triggered a strange switch by accident.
The eldest princess quickly shook her head, “I’m fine, just… excited. Yeah, excited.”
She rushed off after speaking.
She couldn’t possibly tell Bai Lian what was really going on in her head—it would make her seem like a freak.
If Bai Lian knew she was a freak, she’d surely be disappointed!
The eldest princess decided that staying any longer would only make her situation worse.
She pushed Bai Lian away, saying, “I’ve given you the mirror. You can break it, stab it, polish it—whatever you choose. I’ve got something else to do, so I’ll leave now. If you need to contact me, use the jade slip.”
“Hey!”
Before Bai Lian could even respond, the eldest princess had already flown away.
Her back seemed somewhat embarrassed.
“…”
It can’t be…
Bai Lian shrugged.
“Women are so troublesome!”
Her gaze shifted back to the mirror, which had started to repair itself.
It seemed like the mirror was trying to please her, as the words on it had changed.
[Indeed, women are really troublesome!]
“How dare you!” Bai Lian punched the mirror again.
What was it saying? She was a woman too!
The mirror cracked once again. If it had a face, it surely would have been crying by now.
[My mom is your mom.]
Bai Lian’s fist hardened.
She grabbed the frame of the mirror with her left hand and mercilessly punched it with her right. With a single blow, the mirror shattered again.
(╬ ̄皿 ̄)=○▏
“Die!”
“Don’t mess with relationships like that,” Bai Lian glared at the mirror.
She was beginning to suspect the mirror was some kind of idiot.
Bai Lian made a firm decision to destroy it. Since it wouldn’t predict her future anyway, it was better to destroy it before the Taixuan Taoist Sect could get their hands on it.
Sensing her intentions, the mirror immediately started pleading for mercy.
[Spare me, I’m useful, I’m very useful.]
“What use could you possibly have?” Bai Lian asked.
Without hesitation, she pulled a large hammer from her pocket.
The mirror trembled in fear as the hammer drew closer.
But Bai Lian was unmoved.
At the last moment, a short essay appeared on the mirror.
Bai Lian paused her actions and began reading it carefully.
The mirror explained that it couldn’t predict her future because it wasn’t a complete mirror.
If Bai Lian could find its other half—the Past Mirror—and press the two mirrors together, its ability would be greatly enhanced, and it would be able to predict the future.
“…”
Even mirrors have lovers these days?
Bai Lian read the final line of the essay, the black text standing out.
[As long as Miss Bai Lian doesn’t destroy me, I’m willing to be her dog!]
Bai Lian hesitated.
If the mirror was telling the truth, things might be much easier for her in the future.
Just then, a new task appeared.
[Task 1: Destroy the Future Mirror (Reward: +3 Focus)]
[Task 2: Temporarily let go of the Future Mirror (Reward: +3 Focus)]
The rewards for both tasks were the same.
Bai Lian suffered from decision fatigue.
Her Focus had already reached 601 points, which was pretty high, but the task rewards only offered 3 points of Focus each—no major loss for her.
There was no danger in choosing either option.
As for the Taixuan Taoist Sect, maybe they had a backdoor in the mirror…
When she thought about the knowledgeable master at home, her worries dissipated.
Let’s give it a try.
It wouldn’t hurt.
Bai Lian threatened, “Dogs who don’t obey will be killed!”
In the mirror, a whole line of 「Woof woof woof」 immediately appeared.
The next day, as Bai Lian made her way back to the Duxian Sect, the pieces of the Sansheng Stele suddenly began to stir.
