Chapter 25: White Emperor Bai Lian
Bai Lian was shocked.
She had lived in this world for nearly six years, but never before had she felt such a terrifying, oppressive force. Not even when facing Master An Lan had she been so nervous.
Although Master An Lan was strong, she was still her master. Her body, too, was delicate and flat, almost like a wooden board draped in clothes.
This woman, however, was different.
She was tall—tall in a way Bai Lian had never experienced. Her cultivation base was high, and Bai Lian couldn’t even begin to guess how powerful she was.
But the height… Bai Lian was five feet tall, and this woman was nearly three inches taller than her.
“…”
Bai Lian couldn’t help but take a deep breath, absorbing the cool air.
She had encountered many people in her life, but this was the first time she was face to face with such a “tall person.”
At that moment, the excited “tall person” stood just two inches away, and Bai Lian felt a wave of discomfort rise within her.
But that feeling didn’t last long.
Her attention quickly shifted to the woman’s question.
Yaoguang Star Lord?
She knew this name!
If it weren’t for Yaoguang Special Effect, she would have faced far more danger on her journey and might have even died. Bai Lian thought silently to herself.
It seems like staying silent might not be a good choice either. If this woman resorts to force, Bai Lian’s frail body wouldn’t survive the torment.
The strange woman stood patiently, quietly observing. She noticed Bai Lian’s strange behavior but simply assumed Bai Lian was reflecting on past experiences.
A moment later, Bai Lian lifted her head.
“Oh, Yaoguang Star Lord!”
Her gaze was wistful, filled with a sense of nostalgia.
In terms of acting, Bai Lian, the White Emperor, was unrivaled.
“She’s someone I know…”
The strange woman shivered in her heart.
Although she had never met Yaoguang Star Lord personally, she had heard of her for a long time. The rabbit-eared, white-haired girl dressed in light blue had made quite a name for herself in the Immortal World.
She had once traveled the world with her sword, wiping out a gang of slave traffickers, even though the gang included Earth Immortals.
Yaoguang Star Lord’s fame only grew after that. By the time she reached five thousand years of age, she had mastered the Great Tao of Stars and ascended to become a Star Lord.
Though young, she was often called a “cub” by the demon race, yet no one dared underestimate her.
The strange woman recalled her master’s evaluation of Yaoguang Star Lord.
“If she hadn’t forced herself to integrate the Great Tao of Stars, she would have become an Immortal Emperor within ten thousand years.”
“Her cultivation base is unique, and because of that, she surpasses most others.”
“If she becomes an Immortal Emperor, even I won’t easily surpass her.”
This was a terrifying assessment because her master, the ancient Immortal Emperor, had the potential to become a Heavenly Lord.
The strange woman was in awe of Yaoguang Star Lord.
While she had barely just crossed the gap between humans and gods at the age of five thousand, Yaoguang Star Lord had already achieved such remarkable feats.
It was because of this respect that she was certain Bai Lian had some connection to Yaoguang Star Lord, especially after recognizing the Moon Sword Formula—a spell Yaoguang Star Lord had created after reaching the Earth Immortal realm.
If Bai Lian knew that technique, it meant she came from the Immortal World. However, whether she was a reincarnated Immortal Emperor remained uncertain.
The strange woman asked again, “What is your relationship with Fu Zhu Immortal Emperor?”
This time, Bai Lian didn’t rush to answer.
Answering too quickly would seem awkward.
Instead, she asked, “It’s been a long time since I left the Immortal World. How is Yaoguang Star Lord doing now?”
Without hesitation, the strange woman replied, “Yaoguang Star Lord is missing.”
“What?”
Bai Lian was caught off guard.
The woman explained, “Yaoguang Star Lord was last seen thirty years ago. She caused a commotion in the East Pole Heaven and disappeared without a trace afterward.”
“…”
Thirty years ago.
Bai Lian quickly calculated the age of the jade rabbit. She was about fifteen years old. Could it be?!
As she walked beneath the laurel tree in Flying Fog, she had already suspected the jade rabbit might be the reincarnated Yaoguang Star Lord. They looked almost identical, aside from their eyes.
But then…
Bai Lian still had questions.
Not long ago, she had encountered Yaoguang Star Lord in Yao Xia Bay. If the jade rabbit was indeed the reincarnation of Yaoguang Star Lord, who was the Yaoguang Star Lord she had met then?
So many questions.
Bai Lian decided to return and have a deep conversation with the jade rabbit. Perhaps Master An Lan should join the discussion—maybe she could see through the jade rabbit.
The strange woman noticed Bai Lian’s silence and grew more curious about her identity.
She had come to this world with an important mission that could determine the success or failure of the Heavenly Court’s plans.
“Friend, have you heard of the name Xianyuan Emperor?”
“Hmm?”
Bai Lian’s eyes brightened.
She may not know much about the Immortal World, but fortunately, the questions the woman asked were within her knowledge.
Xianyuan Emperor?
Of course, Bai Lian knew that name!
Xianyuan Emperor hadn’t appeared in the game “War of the Gods,” but Bai Lian remembered the name from An Lan’s character card.
An Lan’s character card contained stories from her time in the Immortal World. It mentioned that before becoming the Heavenly Lord, An Lan had met Xianyuan Emperor. Arrogant and proud, Xianyuan had invited An Lan to join his dilapidated Heavenly Court, only to be outright rejected by her.
“Only the weak need to huddle together for warmth!”
That sentence ignited the flames of war, leading to a battle that stretched to the edge of the universe.
And then…
Xianyuan Emperor was almost beaten to death.
It was hard to remember all the details, but one thing was certain: Xianyuan Emperor was in charge of the Heavenly Court and was known as “the Strongest Background Board.”
Bai Lian nodded with recognition. “Are you referring to the Xianyuan Emperor who was nearly defeated by the Immortal Heavenly Lord?”
The strange woman slightly parted her lips in surprise. “…”
Though true, couldn’t you mention something else?
Bai Lian was still in a dangerous situation. Her only way out was to make the strange woman fully believe she was a reincarnated Immortal Emperor, instilling fear in her.
Uh.
Previously, she had repeatedly denied being a reincarnated Immortal Emperor. Now, she had no choice but to convince the woman otherwise.
Bai Lian took a deep breath and said, “I heard Xianyuan Emperor formed a Heavenly Court.”
The strange woman nodded.
Bai Lian sighed. “This Heavenly Court is too crude. It doesn’t even have a basic framework. How can it attract followers? I remember the fight between Xianyuan Emperor and Immortal Heavenly Lord was about this Heavenly Court, right?”
The strange woman responded, “That’s right. My master is a proud person, and friction with the similarly proud Immortal Heavenly Lord was inevitable.”
Ah?
Bai Lian blinked.
Are you… a disciple of Xianyuan Emperor?!
She suddenly remembered her earlier mockery of Xianyuan Emperor. Would there be any repercussions?
Fortunately, the strange woman was focused elsewhere. “My master lost to Immortal Heavenly Lord due to carelessness. It’s a pity that Immortal Heavenly Lord is already gone. Otherwise, she wouldn’t stand a chance against my master now!”
Bai Lian couldn’t help but feel incredulous. “…”
What an impressive self-promotion!
After their conversation, the strange woman was no longer suspicious of Bai Lian.
She smiled at Bai Lian. “I’m fortunate to have met a friend in this world. It seems my luck is really good.”
Bai Lian smiled back.
The strange woman added, “My name is Yue Wuyang. I’ll take my leave now and return to speak with you once I’ve surveyed the area!”
She purposefully got close to Bai Lian—not because she was a social expert—but because she felt there was no benefit in making an enemy of Bai Lian. She also worried she might not complete her mission alone and might need Bai Lian’s help.
Yue Wuyang bowed before flying off from Canglong Garden.
As she watched the woman leave, Bai Lian exhaled in relief.
The most troublesome person had finally gone.
I, White Emperor Bai Lian, have successfully tricked Yue Wuyang!
She stood proudly, chest lifted high.
