Chapter 16: I’m Going to Die (2)
For Bai Lian, the simplest application of her ability was changing her face. She could do it at any time.
As for the more advanced applications? Those would unlock slowly over time.
Bai Lian said, “Let me take you back home first.”
The eldest princess nodded.
If she continued standing there, her embarrassment would only deepen.
However, it wasn’t Bai Lian who would escort her back. Instead, the eldest princess took Bai Lian with her.
“You stand still.”
The eldest princess raised her palm, which shone with a dark blue light. It resembled starlight breaking through heavy rain clouds, casting a faint glow on the ground.
A whirlwind rose from beneath Bai Lian’s feet.
Sprays of water lifted into the air like a swirling tornado.
A moment later, Bai Lian and the eldest princess disappeared from the deserted city street.
—
The rain continued to pour.
A figure slowly rose from the water streaming along the ground.
He quickly retrieved his jade slip and transmitted the information he had just gathered to Kite, far away in Canglong Garden.
“She truly lives up to the reputation of being a reincarnated Immortal Emperor. Killing her by ordinary means won’t be easy,” Marquis Wu’an murmured.
But it didn’t matter.
As long as the Gate of All Living Beings could be successfully constructed, neither he nor Xu Pan would have anything to fear! That artifact, beyond this world, wielded supreme power.
“How much longer?”
Kite responded, “One day, about eleven hours.”
Still too long.
The closer they came to success, the more restless Marquis Wu’an became. His greatest enemy wasn’t Bai Lian—it was the Taixuan Taoist Sect.
The Taoist Sect and Heluo shared a deep feud.
If the sect discovered what they were doing, those old Taoist priests wouldn’t sit idly by.
—
Bai Lian reappeared in the eldest princess’s room.
The window was half-open, and the space was shrouded in darkness. Amid the gloom, a faint fragrance lingered in the air.
It was similar to the scent of the eldest princess herself, but far more intense.
Perfect.
Entering this room felt like stepping directly into the eldest princess’s heart.
“Sit down,” the eldest princess said, pointing to her bed.
The room had only one chair, and she’d already broken it.
Bai Lian shook her head.
This wasn’t the time to reminisce.
Her priority was uncovering the specific details of Xu Pan’s and Marquis Wu’an’s plans.
That didn’t mean she’d act recklessly—she had no intention of throwing her life away to stop those two maniacs.
If she couldn’t prevent their plan, she’d return to the Duxian Sect first.
And if her Shifu, despite being “severely” injured, couldn’t defeat Xu Pan, Bai Lian had a backup plan:
She would release the Great Devil sealed in the Blue Sky Sea, a force that wouldn’t emerge until the late stages of the game.
Ferocious?
The Great Devil was fiercer.
She would let them see whose power—Xu Pan’s sword or the Great Devil’s strength—was superior.
“Don’t rush,” the eldest princess interrupted.
She knew exactly what Bai Lian intended to do, but she hadn’t brought her here for such a reckless move.
In the dark, she waved her right hand, summoning a simple “bronze mirror” into her palm.
The mirror appeared plain at first glance.
But as soon as Bai Lian laid her eyes on it, she sensed something unusual.
Upon closer inspection, faint ripple-like halos of Tao occasionally flickered across the mirror’s surface.
This wasn’t an ordinary object.
The eldest princess said, “Before you act, you might as well use this mirror to predict your luck.”
Bai Lian agreed without hesitation.
She approached the mirror and, following the eldest princess’s instructions, allowed her Divine Sense to seep into it, gently rubbing its surface.
Curious, the eldest princess leaned in to take a closer look.
But just as she did, the bronze mirror suddenly cracked.
Kala—
From the center, countless fissures spread outward like a cobweb.
Then, a single line of beautiful words appeared on its surface:
[I’m going to die.]
“?”
The eldest princess froze.
The mirror could talk?
Bai Lian was equally stunned.
She hadn’t even tried yet—why was the mirror saying it was going to die?
