Chapter 11: Elder Martial Sister Bai Lian Is Better
Xiao Jinse said it.
On a dark, silent afternoon,
the old trees in late autumn swayed their dry branches in the breeze.
The falling yellow leaves by the corner of the wall were gathered together, rolled by the wind.
Xiao Jinse’s eyes were clear, with no hint of desire.
She was truly interested in Elder Martial Sister Bai Lian’s body.
She had imagined, time and again, communicating with Elder Martial Sister Bai Lian on a much “deeper” level.
But she knew this wasn’t the right moment.
The flame had only just been ignited. If she were to stoke it too fiercely now, the fiery emotions would burn out as quickly as shooting stars.
The bond between two people isn’t something that can be rushed; it grows slowly, nurtured over time.
You can’t rely on words alone. You must put in the effort.
Xiao Jinse understood this well.
That was why, after careful consideration, she had finally spoken her mind, without hesitation.
Now, her thoughts were as clear as ever.
She didn’t expect Elder Martial Sister Bai Lian to respond immediately—truth be told, that was almost impossible.
Her words were not to demand, but to show her sincerity.
[I’m serious!]
Her father’s sudden departure had made her realize a truth—
If you don’t speak up soon, you may never get the chance again.
Should she wait for Elder Martial Sister Bai Lian to accept someone else before she dares to show her true feelings?
That would be torture.
Perhaps it was also torture for Elder Martial Sister Bai Lian.
Better to get on the ride early, and as for where it leads…
Well, that’s something you can’t predict.
Xiao Jinse’s courage caught Bai Lian off guard.
When the second Martial Sister earnestly said, “In fact, she’s right,”
Bai Lian had thought she was watching an adult fairy tale—a tale of growth.
The distant train crossed the valley, flew over a bridge, passed through a cave, and rode on the sunset sea.
But suddenly, the story took a turn.
The train derailed, crashing right into her.
Bai Lian was confused.
“Like me?”
She wasn’t surprised, just startled that Xiao Jinse would say this now.
A new task appeared before her:
[Task 1: The spring breeze is warming, it’s time to act! (Reward: the Heart of the Holy Spirit)]
[Task 2: Embrace the second Martial Sister tightly, “Younger Martial Sister, I like you too.” (Reward: Spell – Sun Shooter and Moon Healer)]
[Task 3: Make a fool of yourself, “Younger Martial Sister, I like you and everyone else.” (Reward: Magic Array +1)]
[Task 4: Silence (Reward: Tea Ceremony +1)]
Bai Lian’s gaze lingered on the reward of Task 1.
The Heart of the Holy Spirit seemed to complement the second Martial Sister’s title of “Holy Spirit Goddess.”
If she successfully completed Task 1, the Heart of the Holy Spirit would replace her current Glass Heart.
It felt like walking into a side quest of a game, one that had nothing to do with the main storyline!
Bai Lian was scared.
In the game “Battle of the Gods,” side stories often brought blood, bitterness, and sorrow.
Not that there weren’t “sweet moments,” but for the second Martial Sister’s sideline, it was a journey where she made Elder Martial Sister Bai Lian realize her own sins.
Just when players thought they’d live happily ever after, the Rebellious Shura (Su Youwei) appeared, wielding a blood-drenched sword.
The third Martial Sister had come to kill Elder Martial Sister Bai Lian.
At her weakest, Bai Lian could only endure in silence.
At her strongest, she’d use her own blood to wash away the dirt.
The wicked would be punished.
The sideline ended with the second Martial Sister’s exhaustion and Elder Martial Sister Bai Lian’s death.
The ending wasn’t as grim as it seemed—after all, Bai Lian was a cultivator. Even if her head was severed, she wouldn’t die.
Even if she were chopped into pieces, her body would heal soon enough.
Fortunately, the game makers [Dark Blue] had avoided writing even stranger endings.
But many fans had their own, creative takes on it.
[Menu of Ling Xuan]
[Today’s lunch is——]
One pound of yellow rice wine, and one pound of Bai Lian.
Bai Lian paused.
She could only choose between Task 3 and Task 4, but either would disappoint the second Martial Sister, wouldn’t it?
Finally, she opted for the safest choice—Task 4: Silence.
The reward was [Tea Ceremony +1].
It was a cruel choice.
Alright.
She admitted it—she wasn’t a good woman.
She wasn’t the true “Natural Saint” everyone thought her to be.
The system claimed she lacked morality. That was a lie.
How could anyone be said to have no morality? Even if her moral value was negative, she still had some!
The system was just feeling guilty for the choice.
It couldn’t have been a mistake!
The wind in Castle Peak City was noisy.
Xiao Jinse didn’t get an answer from Elder Martial Sister Bai Lian.
But she didn’t panic. She was prepared for this.
In fact, she preferred this ending to hearing false promises.
She wasn’t ready yet. She wasn’t worthy of being by Elder Martial Sister Bai Lian’s side.
She’d wait, grow stronger, and maybe then she would be ready.
“Sword Washing Pavilion…”
Xiao Jinse’s eyes held firm resolve.
“Elder Martial Sister,” she said, “I’m serious.”
“I know.”
“Elder Martial Sister, let’s return tomorrow.”
“Hmmm.”
Xiao Jinse felt lighthearted, savoring the time left with Elder Martial Sister Bai Lian.
She grabbed Bai Lian’s sleeve, eager to explore her secret.
“Elder Martial Sister, follow me.”
They walked toward a small hill outside Castle Peak City.
A tiny stream wound down from the hill and stretched toward the distant plain.
Though the view wasn’t breathtaking, the evening sky, dotted with bright stars, was striking.
Though the sky wasn’t like a river, the stars were crystal-like, scattered throughout the night.
Xiao Jinse sat on the grass, hands planted on the ground.
“I used to come here when I was young,” she began.
“I came when I was happy.”
“And when I was sad.”
“My father once told me that each star in the sky corresponds to a person on Earth.”
Suddenly, Xiao Jinse pointed to the brightest star.
“That star must be Elder Martial Sister!”
Bai Lian coughed, “That’s Shifu.”
Xiao Jinse stared at her, then broke into laughter.
“Well then, Elder Martial Sister must be the moon.”
Bai Lian shook her head.
Her spirit Qi danced through the night, blazing in the sky,
like a meteor cutting through the night.
“Meteor! It’s a meteor!”
Xiao Jinse jumped to her feet, her excitement contagious.
She placed a hand on Bai Lian’s shoulder, eager to share her joy.
She saw the meteor streak above them, just like the scene from when she was twelve.
A fleeting moment.
When Bai Lian wasn’t looking, Xiao Jinse suddenly moved close, and her lips brushed lightly against something—like a dragonfly skimming the water.
Bai Lian felt the tenderness, disoriented.
“I… was kissed?”
In the game, shouldn’t “Elder Martial Sister Bai Lian” not do such things?
Was this revenge by the second Martial Sister?
Xiao Jinse had already lifted her head, shouting, “Meteor! It’s a meteor!”
Bai Lian smiled.
Yes.
It was a meteor.
The next day,
In the cave of An Lan,
Bai Lian asked, “Master, did you drop the meteor on the second Martial Sister’s twelfth birthday?”
An Lan looked surprised, “Meteor? What meteor?”
Bai Lian explained.
An Lan waved her hand dismissively, “I don’t know. It had nothing to do with me. Do you think I’m the kind of person who likes children?”
Then she felt guilty.
No…
She didn’t like little Bai Lian.
She just cared about her eldest disciple.
Bai Lian looked serious.
Okay.
If it wasn’t Shifu, then who was it?
With suspicion clouding her mind, she returned to her room.
Not long after, the fourth Martial Sister appeared at her door.
“Dong Dong Dong —”
