Chapter 6: Bai Lian’s Trouble
All the elders of the Duxian Sect, including Jue Yunzi, were stunned. They immediately put down their work and rushed to Qiongming Peak.
A purple light flickered in the west.
The light descended through the protective barrier surrounding the mountain and landed in front of Bai Lian.
It was Yan Yue, carrying the Blood Tree Patriarch on her shoulder. When she landed, the shaking of Qiongming Peak finally stopped.
The Blood Tree Patriarch, unceremoniously tossed to the ground, groaned and complained,
“Ouch, my old back! Can’t you be more gentle?”
“I don’t have the time for that. Besides, with your rough skin and thick bark, you’ll survive,” Yan Yue muttered indifferently.
The Blood Tree Patriarch shivered in frustration.
When will us big trees ever get the respect we deserve?
Bai Lian ignored their exchange and stepped forward.
“Master Yan Yue, Patriarch,” she greeted politely.
Yan Yue frowned, nodded slightly, and asked, “What happened?”
Qiongming Peak again! Why is it always Qiongming Peak?
She couldn’t help but suspect the peak was cursed.
Bai Lian shook her head.
Not long ago, she had been “busy” dealing with the internal demon in the Ten Thousand Poison Pearl alongside her “3.5th” Martial Sister. She had no idea what had happened here.
Yan Yue sighed.
“Wait for the sect leader to arrive.”
“Yes,” Bai Lian replied, taking her place beside Yan Yue.
“Elder Martial Sister…”
A timid voice called from behind her.
Turning around, Bai Lian saw her younger Martial Sisters and the jade rabbit watching nervously.
She stepped forward and reassured them, “Don’t worry. Qiongming Peak will be fine.”
Then, she approached the Third Martial Sister and handed back the Ten Thousand Poison Pearl.
“I went into the pearl to calm the internal demon. She should be fine now.”
“Thank you, Elder Martial Sister Bai Lian!”
Su Youwei’s eyes lit up, her troubles momentarily forgotten. Joy filled her heart.
Without the internal demon, she had felt uneasy, always fearing the Second and Fourth Martial Sisters might gang up to ambush Elder Martial Sister Bai Lian.
But now, everything was fine.
Her strongest ally was back, and together, they would stand victorious atop the peak, protecting Elder Martial Sister Bai Lian!
Soon, Jue Yunzi and Elder Gaoyi arrived together.
Jue Yunzi, who had recently ascended to the Transmigration Stage, exuded an ethereal presence.
He said, “The source of the disturbance is at the foot of the mountain. Let’s consult Martial Sister An Lan first.”
Bai Lian nodded and followed the group.
“It will be all right!”
Su Youwei clutched the Ten Thousand Poison Pearl tightly, silently praying.
Once Bai Lian’s figure disappeared from view, she gently knocked on the pearl and whispered,
“Hong Yi.”
“Hong Yi,” meaning “Red Clothes,” was the name she had given the internal demon because of her blood-red attire.
The internal demon, Hong Yi, was quite dissatisfied with the name, but Su Youwei, being accustomed to it, couldn’t be bothered to change it.
This time, unlike usual, Hong Yi responded almost immediately without complaining about the name.
“Yes… What can I do for you?”
Her voice was hesitant, stuttering as though she lacked confidence.
Su Youwei found this odd but chose not to dwell on it. She exhaled deeply, relief washing over her.
Excellent!
If Hong Yi was willing to talk, it meant she was fine. Elder Martial Sister Bai Lian was truly amazing—she had managed to help Hong Yi recover!
(^ω^)/
Of course, it was expected. After all, Elder Martial Sister Bai Lian was capable of solving even her own internal demon problem!
Su Youwei cleared her throat and asked, “Hong Yi, what happened to you earlier?”
“Nothing… nothing at all,” Hong Yi replied awkwardly.
“Then why didn’t you answer me before?”
“I…” Hong Yi faltered, guilt creeping into her voice. She quickly fabricated an excuse. “I just felt unwell.”
On that point, at least, she wasn’t lying.
Not long ago, she had just embraced Elder Martial Sister Bai Lian, only for the sudden shock to extinguish the passionate flame burning within her.
Now, she felt weak and powerless—like ice melting in the sun.
Damn.
She needed to rekindle her fire with Elder Martial Sister Bai Lian’s warmth.
Su Youwei asked with concern, “What’s wrong? Why don’t you tell me?”
Hong Yi hesitated before replying, “It’s… illusions. I keep seeing strange visions lately.”
“Strange visions?” Su Youwei whispered.
“Hmm,” Hong Yi affirmed softly.
Su Youwei lowered her head.
She hadn’t experienced these visions herself recently.
So that was it. It wasn’t that she had overcome her nightmares—Hong Yi had borne the pain entirely on her own!
Su Youwei was deeply moved.
Hong Yi, my other self, thank you!
She gently asked, “By the way, what did Elder Martial Sister Bai Lian tell you?”
Ah, this?
Hong Yi stiffened at the mention of Bai Lian.
No way! Su Youwei must never find out what happened earlier. Otherwise, she might bury her alive!
“Nothing much,” Hong Yi stammered, trying to sound casual. “Elder Martial Sister Bai Lian just chatted with me to keep me distracted and said you were worried about me.”
Her vague response seemed to satisfy Su Youwei, who nodded firmly.
“Alright, but next time, if something happens, you must tell me!”
“Of course!” Hong Yi agreed hastily.
Su Youwei clutched the Ten Thousand Poison Pearl tightly.
Come on!
Together, we’ll defeat any woman who dares to covet Elder Martial Sister Bai Lian!
Since you and I share the same source, you can share in Elder Martial Sister Bai Lian’s warmth too!
Not long ago…
In a *secluded cave, An Lan sat giggling foolishly after finishing her tea. She released her Divine Sense, allowing it to roam freely.
[*isolated]
Eventually, her Divine Sense wandered into Bai Lian’s room.
There, Bai Lian, who had just finished her evening class, was sitting at her dresser, staring at the Ten Thousand Poison Pearl.
Curious, An Lan moved closer.
She observed as Bai Lian’s soul left her body and entered the pearl.
After a brief hesitation, An Lan followed. With her immense power, neither Bai Lian nor Hong Yi would detect her presence.
What she witnessed next was astonishing—
Inside the pearl, Hong Yi was holding Bai Lian tightly. At one point, she grabbed Bai Lian’s hand and pressed it against her chest.
Boom!
Something exploded in An Lan’s mind.
At that moment, she wanted nothing more than to destroy Hong Yi.
How… How dare she do such shameless things to Bai Lian?
An Lan glared at Hong Yi, who was far too bold despite her youth.
After a long, hard stare, her gaze shifted back to Bai Lian.
Her emotions were a chaotic mess. Anger, sadness, disappointment—each swirled together into one pressing question:
Why didn’t you dodge?
Boom!
An Lan abruptly stood up and punched the cave wall.
She didn’t use her full strength—if she had, the entire Qiongming Peak would have been reduced to ashes.
Even so, the impact was powerful enough to rupture the magic array surrounding the forbidden area, leaving a gaping hole.
Countless streams of spirit Qi surged out of the breach, causing the entire Qiongming Peak to tremble violently.
Hum!
Finally, Bai Lian and Hong Yi were separated.
An Lan sat cross-legged on her bed, arms folded across her chest, index finger tapping rhythmically, her eyes closed in frustration. Her anger radiated from her like a tangible force.
Although her punch had startled everyone, she felt no regret.
After all, she was the one who had watched Bai Lian grow up!
Moments later, the sound of approaching footsteps echoed outside the cave.
“Martial Sister An Lan.”
An Lan responded coldly, “Come in.”
A group of people entered the cave, Bai Lian among them.
Peeking through a narrow slit in her right eye, An Lan fixed her gaze on Bai Lian.
Rebel!
Jue Yunzi paused, his eyes drawn to the punch mark on the wall.
There was no need for investigation—it was obvious the vibration had been caused by An Lan.
Jue Yunzi chuckled nervously.
“Martial Sister An Lan, you look quite well today.”
Well?
How did he come to that conclusion?
I’m so upset that my face might as well be turning black!
Despite her inner thoughts, An Lan opened her eyes and managed to maintain her composure.
No matter how angry she felt toward Bai Lian, she wouldn’t demean her in front of others.
“Thanks to Bai Lian,” An Lan said.
“…”
Though An Lan’s words seemed polite, Bai Lian couldn’t shake the feeling that something about them was offensive.
“Oh?”
Everyone’s eyes turned toward Bai Lian.
An Lan smiled faintly.
“Bai Lian traveled all the way to the Snow Sea to find a healing treasure for me. Because of that treasure, my injury is much better than before. I haven’t been idle while recovering, either. I’ve spent my time contemplating and have even developed a new martial skill. I was just testing it.”
Jue Yunzi’s mouth twitched slightly.
That’s so like An Lan—always unpredictable!
Still, he advised, “Martial Sister An Lan, your injury hasn’t fully healed yet. You should avoid exerting yourself to prevent aggravating it.”
An Lan smiled and nodded.
“I understand.”
“Then I’m relieved.”
Jue Yunzi and the others lingered briefly before leaving one by one.
As Bai Lian reached the entrance of the cave, she heard An Lan’s voice again.
“Bai Lian, don’t leave just yet. I have a new [Spell] to [Teach] you!”
Eh? Such a rare opportunity?
Shifu’s knowledge is as vast as the sea. Even just one drop of her wisdom is enough to send me soaring to the heavens!
An Lan smiled warmly at Bai Lian as she turned back.
Don’t worry.
“My cave is quite spacious. Let me close the door and teach you thoroughly!”
