Chapter 3: Bai Lian’s Taste (1)
The jade rabbit was extremely nervous.
She was completely innocent in all this.
Originally, she had been idle and bored, cultivating quietly by the cold pool in the back mountain. It was then that the Blood Tree Patriarch fell from the sky, announcing he was looking for Bai Lian. Dutifully, the jade rabbit had come to deliver the message.
Just deliver a message—nothing more!
But the moment she stepped into the cave, she was greeted by a startling sight: An Lan was riding on Bai Lian.
Too bad!
What made it worse was An Lan’s fierce expression as she pressed down on Bai Lian’s chest with an intensity that looked downright hostile.
Flat! Flat!
If she pushed any harder, Bai Lian’s “peaks” might be completely flattened!
The jade rabbit glared at An Lan’s back.
After all, Bai Lian’s chest had once been her temporary nest—a warm and cozy place. However, ever since Xiao Jinse and Su Youwei discovered that she could take human form after breaking through the Soul Changing Stage, she hadn’t returned to that comforting nest.
The jade rabbit was fuming.
Bang bang!
She waved her tiny fists in place, fully prepared to smack the back of An Lan’s head.
But the moment she remembered An Lan’s formidable strength, the jade rabbit’s courage shrank.
She dared not express her anger or make a single sound.
When An Lan turned her head stiffly to look at her, the jade rabbit froze. She immediately raised her forepaws and ears in a gesture of surrender.
Don’t kill me. I didn’t see anything!
Turning away, the jade rabbit faced the stone wall, presenting her back—and trembling all the while.
The wind outside the cave howled ominously.
Bai Lian, still pinned down by An Lan, also noticed the unusual atmosphere. She tilted her head slightly, catching sight of the jade rabbit quivering in the corner.
“…”
Stay calm!
This was no time to panic. If the jade rabbit misunderstood the situation, it wouldn’t be long before her Junior Martial Sisters caught wind of a wild rumor that she and An Lan were “fighting” in the cave.
Such a misunderstanding would seriously damage the dignity she had worked so hard to build as their Elder Martial Sister!
Trying to diffuse the tension, Bai Lian spoke up.
“Shifu, you’d better take this Immortal Spirit Stone. I understand that you’re refusing it out of concern for me, but you need it far more than I do right now!”
“Ah… Yes.”
An Lan responded instinctively.
Don’t panic. Stay composed.
After all, she wasn’t doing anything strange.
She was just caring for her eldest disciple—by the way, checking what “level” her eldest disciple had grown to!
The rabbit she had picked up from outside really didn’t know how to read the room.
An Lan said seriously, “I have already felt your filial piety, but… let’s do this.”
She pulled the Immortal Spirit Stone out of the “gap” between the “peaks.”
Puff!
A dazzling white light burst out, and dense white fog filled the cave in an instant.
So pure! So warm! So comfortable!
At that moment, the jade rabbit in the corner turned slowly, drawn by the “seduction” of the Immortal Spirit Qi.
For a brief moment, she felt the barrier that had blocked her cultivation base for so long begin to loosen. As long as she persisted, she might be able to break through that barrier!
But…
The jade rabbit suddenly staggered, her hind legs going limp as if she had consumed fake wine. A layer of water mist clouded her once-clear eyes.
Ah.
No… it’s not working.
If this continued, she would surely lose control and float away.
Suddenly, a gentle force enveloped the jade rabbit, pushing her out of the cave.
Returning to the bamboo forest, where the wind sobbed softly, she soon recovered to normal.
“People below the Soul Changing Stage can’t directly come into contact with Immortal Spirit Qi. It’s harmful to your body,” An Lan explained.
Bai Lian nodded, taking in the new information. This was the first time she had heard of it.
An Lan didn’t rush to get off Bai Lian.
On the one hand, it asserted her dignity. On the other hand, Bai Lian was soft and surprisingly comfortable to sit on.
Bai Lian didn’t mind.
As a disciple, it was only right to serve her Shifu patiently!
An Lan held the Immortal Spirit Stone in her left hand. With a delicate motion of her index finger, she divided the stone into two perfectly equal halves.
Despite splitting it, the balance of the Immortal Spirit Stone remained intact, and the Immortal Spirit Qi within didn’t leak out.
“Each of us will take half,” An Lan said, handing one half of the stone to Bai Lian.
“But…” Bai Lian began to protest, only for An Lan to meet her gaze firmly.
“Whether you are a reincarnated Star Lord or a reincarnated Immortal Emperor, you are my disciple. And a disciple does not contradict her Master. Understand?”
Her tone wasn’t particularly forceful, but her intent was clear.
What if I do contradict Shifu? Bai Lian thought. I’ve already kissed her before!
Still, the unwavering determination in An Lan’s eyes made Bai Lian hesitate.
It’s no fun to fight over this. Fine, I’ll take it.
I’ll just leave it in my storage pendant and not use it. Shifu wouldn’t force me to “eat” it, right?
She reached out to take her half of the Immortal Spirit Stone, only to realize that An Lan had suddenly pulled her hand back.
