Chapter 24: White Emperor’s Dharma Body Is Invincible
The third day of September.
Night at Yao Xia Bay.
At this moment, Yao Xia Bay seemed like a scene straight out of poetry and painting. The lively noise was far greater than any New Year’s Eve Bai Lian had ever experienced.
But beauty never seems to last forever.
In an instant, the waves on the sea shattered into countless fragments, like glass plates crashing to the ground.
Boom!
A deafening explosion pierced through the night as a towering blood-red curtain rose over the East Wilderness. The curtain, thousands of feet high, turned the surrounding sky into a terrifying crimson hue.
Bai Lian frowned slightly.
On her way to Yao Xia Bay, she had heard rumors about a Blood Demon in the East Wilderness. It was said the demon devoured the blood and flesh of cultivators, and the people of Thousand Sword City were actively hunting it.
This blood curtain was undoubtedly the work of the Blood Demon.
To unleash such chaos without even activating a [Field] meant the demon’s strength was close to the Transmigration Stage.
Can the forces from Thousand Sword City really subdue it?
A few seconds later, the earth began to quake violently. Many panicked people lost their balance and fell to the ground.
And that was only the beginning.
The tremors grew fiercer.
The longest street in Yao Xia Bay cracked, splitting into dozens of fissures wide enough for a person to fall through. Several houses crumbled after just a few shakes.
The joyous celebration vanished, replaced by panicked cries and chaos.
At this moment, fleeing to an open field would be a grave mistake.
The sea, as though boiled by the sun, erupted in violent waves. The tides surged like enraged, red-eyed taurens charging toward Thunder Bluff. If the waves grew any more ferocious, Yao Xia Bay would be utterly exposed to their destructive force.
“Sister Bai Lian,” Ling Xuan called out nervously, floating beside her and staring at the catastrophic scene below.
Bai Lian took a deep breath.
This is quite the unexpected development!
A new task suddenly appeared before her eyes:
[Task 1: “With great power comes great responsibility. Save Yao Xia Bay!” (Reward: Focus+7)]
[Task 2: “Turn around and leave. It’s none of my business!” (Reward: Light Skill+12)]
Bai Lian didn’t make an immediate choice.
It wasn’t because she was seriously considering fleeing—she simply found the phrasing fascinating.
“With great power comes great responsibility.”
How fitting for the green dragon.
Thirty thousand years ago, the ember had wreaked havoc in the Immortal World, plunging countless immortals into despair.
The matter had nothing to do with the green dragon. It could have ignored the ember and continued living peacefully in the Immortal World.
But for the righteousness in its heart, the green dragon had stepped forward, fully aware of the risks. Even knowing it might not prevail against the ember, it stood firm and chose to act.
In the ensuing battle, stars crumbled, and heavenly rivers ran dry.
After paying a tremendous price, the green dragon used its supreme power to banish the ember to the turbulent void. It sealed the ember with an altar constructed from its own dragon bones, ensuring it would never escape.
Justice?
This was justice.
A saint?
This was a saint.
In comparison, Bai Lian thought of herself as merely a pretender. She was no saint—just someone lucky enough to be hailed as one.
The system’s message wasn’t simply random. It was likely the green dragon’s message to her.
“With great power…” Bai Lian murmured softly.
Her current strength wasn’t enough to save Yao Xia Bay from the Blood Demon’s menace.
But that wasn’t a concern.
Because, at this very moment, she was basking in the golden rain of light.
It was a rain born of the soul of the green dragon.
Bai Lian bent down and held Ling Xuan gently in her arms, pressing the girl’s cheek against her chest, offering warmth and comfort.
“Don’t worry,” she whispered.
She chose Task 1.
After releasing Ling Xuan—whose flushed cheeks suggested she was nearly suffocating—Bai Lian extended her right hand toward the East Wilderness.
Her hand was as pure and white as snow, unmarred by even the tiniest speck of dust. Not even the green dragon’s power could alter it.
Her confidence stemmed from the green dragon’s gift.
This golden rain wasn’t merely for show.
The green dragon had burned its bones, and the remnants of its vast power now coursed through Bai Lian.
Perhaps because of the unique bond between the green dragon and Yaoguang Star Lord, Bai Lian could wield this power freely—at least until it was depleted.
This was no ordinary strength.
The green dragon’s power came from a true Demigod. Even a fraction—just one-millionth—of that strength was formidable beyond imagination.
For now, Bai Lian could face dozens of Transmigration Stage cultivators without fear.
And as long as this power endured, she could handle the Blood Demon with ease.
This power was almost equivalent to an Experience Card of the Mahayana Stage.
Having activated this power, Bai Lian temporarily possessed an almost invincible body. How could she possibly fear a mere Blood Demon now?
“Come one, kill one; come a thousand, kill a thousand!”
Bai Lian’s heart brimmed with pride. She stood like a god above the sky, gazing down upon the mortal world.
Although she was not yet an Immortal Emperor, she knew she must strive to become one. Only then could she hope to save her master and intervene in the conflict between her master and their adversary.
The Tao is right there.
But if you don’t take a step forward, you’ll never break free of the game.
This realization strengthened Bai Lian’s resolve, as if she had shattered a nearly impenetrable barrier. At that moment, she felt herself becoming a “mature” adult.
This world might not be a winner-takes-all reality, but as long as she could triumph in the end, she could at least protect her Shifu and her Younger Martial Sisters.
The blade is unsheathed!
A golden light flashed in Bai Lian’s eyes.
She extended her fingers and then, in one decisive motion, clenched her hand tightly.
In that moment, she felt as though she held the entire world in her grasp.
Boom!
The sky itself seemed to explode.
Centered on Bai Lian, countless streams of water-attributed spirit Qi surged forward. They appeared like tens of thousands of armored soldiers, circling her while roaring with a war cry that reverberated through the heavens.
“All laws have no boundaries!”
As her resonant voice filled the air, the chaotic waves of the boundless sea suddenly changed direction. They surged upward toward the sky, only to bow before Bai Lian and gather high above to form a Milky Way—a colossal river of light, thousands of feet wide and stretching hundreds of miles.
“This is…”
“A miracle! The heavens are blessing us!”
“Stop dreaming! It’s White Emperor Bai Lian!”
As the crowd exclaimed in awe, a female cultivator, who had fallen to the ground, was the first to notice the anomaly.
“Something’s off!”
The earth was still trembling, but something had changed.
If the earlier tremors had been like the violent tossing of a stormy sea, now the vibrations felt more controlled and rhythmic, almost like the gentle hum of a vibrating instrument.
At first, the frequency was high and the amplitude severe, creating fear that the ground would split open and swallow everything whole.
But soon, the amplitude diminished, and the vibrations became steady.
The tremors no longer terrified her; instead, they felt oddly soothing—almost like someone was gently massaging the soles of her feet.
She scrambled to her feet and looked around.
The cracks in the streets were closing.
In the distance, she noticed what appeared to be a mountain sinking into the ground.
“No… that’s not it!”
The female cultivator dashed to the viewing platform of Yao Xia Bay.
And there, the truth became clear.
The mountain wasn’t sinking—Yao Xia Bay was rising into the sky!
“It’s flying—truly flying!”
Shouts of disbelief and astonishment echoed everywhere.
More and more people looked up to see Yao Xia Bay floating.
With the support of the green dragon’s immense power, Yao Xia Bay rose higher and higher until it resembled an ark, suspended above the heavenly river of light.
Fine golden particles floated in the air, visible to anyone who lifted their gaze.
“Is this the power of White Emperor Bai Lian?”
“Hiss—”
The crowd could only gasp in awe.
“How terrible!”
“May the White Emperor be with us!”
“I propose we rename Yao Xia Bay to White Emperor City!”
“…”
Bai Lian felt a sense of foreboding the moment the green dragon carried her out. Now, her worst nightmare had come true!
White Emperor City? Don’t even think about it!
With a tight expression, Bai Lian resisted the urge to swear aloud.
Calm down. Calm down.
Now wasn’t the time to worry about trivial matters like this. Besides, she knew that no amount of explaining would convince them otherwise.
Focus on the task at hand.
Now that Yao Xia Bay had ascended into the clouds, Bai Lian no longer had to worry about accidentally destroying the city with the green dragon’s power, which she still couldn’t fully control.
As a blood-red streamer shot toward her, she clenched her right hand and gently pushed it forward.
In an instant, cold white spirit Qi erupted from her palm.
The spirit Qi surged forward with the speed and force of a runaway train.
The Blood Demon, sensing danger, tried to evade—but it was too late.
The white light pierced straight through the demon’s chest like an arrow, leaving a massive hole in its wake.
The Blood Demon perished instantly, its body crumpling in mid-air like a ragged cloth. Before it even reached the ground, it disintegrated into ashes.
The white light did not dissipate. It continued flying forward.
Boom!
When it finally struck the ground in the East Wilderness, a massive white light ball emerged.
The light ball expanded rapidly, resembling a devouring black hole, consuming everything in its path: sand, shrubs, hills, and rivers.
The brightness of the light intensified until, from a distance, it resembled an artificial sun.
“Huh?”
Bai Lian frowned in confusion.
The Blood Demon was dead. The light ball she had unleashed had also purified the demon Qi saturating the East Wilderness.
So why hadn’t the blood curtain disappeared?
Something’s not right.
At last, Bai Lian understood why the system’s reward for saving Yao Xia Bay was Focus +7.
She turned to Ling Xuan, who was still dazed.
“Younger Martial Sister, I’ll return soon.”
Ling Xuan hurriedly replied, “Sister Bai Lian, go ahead.”
Without hesitation, Bai Lian left Yao Xia Bay.
On her way, she encountered a woman in white from Thousand Sword City.
The woman, covered in blood and visibly distressed, called out, “White Emperor Bai Lian! We’re in big trouble!”
“What happened?” Bai Lian asked.
The woman answered anxiously, “Blood Demons! There are many of them! The Blood Demon you just killed opened a fractured little world!”
Bai Lian nodded.
Though she didn’t fully grasp the situation, she knew one thing for certain: the battle wasn’t over. The sight of blood-red streamers streaking across the sky confirmed it.
Move forward.
Kill them all.
The flames of Bai Lian’s fighting spirit burned brightly.
