Chapter 4: The Fight Between Elder Martial Sister Bai Lian and Her Master! (2)
—
“Hmm.”
Su Youwei shot a sharp glare at Xiao Jinse.
“I just want to check if Elder Martial Sister Bai Lian’s waist is injured,” explained the second Elder Martial Sister.
Xiao Jinse smiled smugly.
Check?
Your excuse is so flimsy, I’m embarrassed for you!
Ahem.
Your petty tricks are no match for the second Elder Martial Sister’s keen eyes!
With hands raised, Bai Lian questioned, “What are you doing?”
Ahem.
Xiao Jinse took a cautious step back.
“Elder Martial Sister, let me explain…”
She recounted the events that had unfolded at the peak.
“Elder Martial Sister, why did you fight with Shifu?”
Bai Lian gave a casual nod.
Now that she thought about it, she wasn’t even sleepy anymore!
It truly was a fierce battle.
Initially, she had floored An Lan with a direct punch. Eventually, An Lan countered with a ferocious assault of her own.
Although An Lan held an overwhelming advantage, her pride and overconfidence led to her downfall.
Bai Lian seized the chance to declare victory with her counter-kill.
“Immortal Heavenly Lord, I, Bai Lian, claim the rights to your first kiss!”
Her eyes curved into crescents as she smiled.
Xiao Jinse and Su Youwei both froze, captivated by that radiant smile.
How charming Elder Martial Sister Bai Lian is!
Her casual smile was enough to stir hearts.
“It’s not a big deal,” Bai Lian said. “Shifu was just testing my strength. She warned me not to grow conceited in my cultivation, or I’d stumble sooner or later.”
“I see.”
Xiao Jinse, Su Youwei, and the jade rabbit nodded earnestly.
They believed her, feeling a wave of relief wash over them.
Bai Lian used this opportunity to offer some guidance.
“You must remember this too—don’t let your natural talents make you complacent.”
“Absolutely! (Haw haw)”
Three firm voices echoed through the quiet mountains.
Bai Lian smiled with satisfaction.
Despite all the setbacks, Qiongming Peak had come a long way.
The younger Martial Sisters were united, and their bond with Shifu was growing stronger by the day.
Her efforts had not been in vain.
Great!
As long as they stayed on this path, there was hope for the future.
—
After bidding farewell to her younger Martial Sisters, Bai Lian returned to her chamber.
Standing at the door, she suddenly heard faint rustling inside.
Someone was in the room!
Pushing the door open, she stepped inside.
“Respected Elder Sister!”
Yu Ying, the fourth Martial Sister, turned with a start.
Her water-blue hair floated lightly, resembling rippling waves under moonlight.
“Youngest Martial Sister, how can I help you?” Bai Lian asked gently.
Her gaze shifted to Yu Ying’s arms, which cradled several paintings previously hung on the walls.
Looking distressed, Yu Ying approached Bai Lian.
“Elder Martial Sister, it’s absurd how the second and third Elder Martial Sisters have been behaving!”
Bai Lian blinked in surprise.
“What happened?”
Yu Ying pouted. “It’s like this…”
—
Earlier that day, Su Youwei had snuck into Bai Lian’s room. Upon returning, she noticed something infuriating.
The painting placements had changed again!
Initially, her painting had hung next to Xiao Jinse’s. But now, it was moved to the opposite wall.
What is this?
A declaration of war?!
She promptly swapped her painting with Xiao Jinse’s.
But that wasn’t the end.
They both made several trips to Bai Lian’s room, trading places for their paintings until the jade rabbit intervened.
Yu Ying sighed. “If they continue, they’ll ruin the masterpieces you painted with such care.”
Bai Lian: “…”
“I was planning to reorganize the arrangement,” Yu Ying added earnestly.
“Where do you want to hang them?” Bai Lian asked.
Yu Ying demonstrated immediately, rehanging the paintings.
The new pattern placed Xiao Jinse on the left, Su Youwei on the right, An Lan at the top, and Bai Lian herself in the center.
Yu Ying smiled shyly.
Bai Lian found herself amused yet perplexed.
Perhaps she should just draw a family portrait—it would save a lot of wall space!
—
After Yu Ying left, Bai Lian lay on her bed.
Though exhausted, she couldn’t sleep.
Every time she closed her eyes, images of the cave and certain scenes from the game flooded her mind.
“Puff~”
Sighing, Bai Lian rose from her bed.
She walked to her desk, unrolled a new canvas, and began sketching An Lan’s outline with careful strokes.
Time slipped away as she worked. By the time she looked up, faint light shimmered on the horizon.
—
Meanwhile, An Lan, having just slain a group of demons, felt the burning sensation in her body subside.
Her divine sense returned to normal.
“I thought I was getting old,” she muttered, collapsing by the twisted neck tree near Bai Lian’s home.
Her movements were so light, Bai Lian didn’t detect her presence at all.
Through the window, An Lan caught sight of Bai Lian.
The flickering light revealed her sitting alone, deeply engrossed in her painting.
“Didn’t she have a night class today?” An Lan murmured.
Yet, despite herself, a faint smile graced her lips.
Ha ↑
This painting is awful!
Her smile grew wider.
It couldn’t compare to the one Yan Yue had gifted her.
But still, if Bai Lian enjoyed drawing, who was she to stop her?
An Lan quietly turned and left.
—
As the night deepened, An Lan returned to her cave.
A jade slip awaited her—a message from the sect leader.
“Has the time finally come for the sect leader to cross the Guafeng Disaster?”
After reading the message, An Lan tidied her robes, checked her reflection in the water mirror, and flew to Yunluo Peak.
