Chapter 28: Rumors Know No Bounds! (2)
As it ascended to the realm beyond the heavens, it shone with a brilliance surpassing even the star-studded night sky.
The ground lay cloaked in snow, and the sky mirrored this pristine whiteness.
White night!
This was a true white night scene!
An Lan seemed amused by the breathtaking spectacle before her.
“What’s going on?”
The sheer magnitude of this vision was enough to overwhelm the entire world.
Beneath the luminous white sky, the Snow Spirit Lord stood frozen in place, as helpless as a fledgling bird that hadn’t yet learned to fly.
By the way, this extraordinary vision had been triggered by the astrolabe—a device that Bai Lian had just used moments ago.
The Snow Spirit Lord was out of breath, her chest heaving.
Star Lord! Is this the true strength of a Star Lord?!
She quickly turned her head, her gaze landing first on Ji Shi rather than Bai Lian.
“How… how is this possible?” Ji Shi stammered, lifting his head as if petrified.
He stood there, lost and unable to articulate his thoughts.
It was as though his mind had been battered with a heavy stick for what felt like an eternity.
Oh my God!
Ji Shi saw it clearly—a passage emerging within the white night.
What kind of passage could be revealed by the astrolabe’s guidance?
“The Ancient Starry…”
His lips trembled, but the words refused to form.
It could only be the Ancient Starry Sky Road!
But the road didn’t last long. Even An Lan, who was rarely unsettled, was shaken by its sudden appearance.
What on earth?
She had only come to teach Ji Shi a lesson, and now, this?
No way.
An Lan’s thoughts raced as she tried to suppress her growing panic.
Please leave! Bai Lian mustn’t find out I was here. Otherwise, I’ll lose every shred of dignity I have left!
Determined, she decided to entrust everything to the old turtle. Ji Shi seemed foolish enough for not using a spell and instead stabbing Bai Lian with a broken knife.
That knife wouldn’t harm Bai Lian—not even her third disciple, Su Youwei, who had just broken through to the Golden Core Stage, would be affected by it.
Come on.
An Lan shook her head in disbelief.
The old turtle could handle him. Before leaving, she issued stern warnings:
“Take care of Bai Lian for me, or I’ll rip your head off! And don’t you dare tell Bai Lian I was here, or I’ll break your shell into pieces!”
The turtle could only sigh.
Why me? I just wanted to watch. Why did I have to get involved?
As soon as An Lan left, the astrolabe’s radiant light dimmed.
With a soft clatter, it fell to the ground.
Then came a series of deafening explosions—
Boom! Boom! Boom!
Nearby runes and materials disintegrated into fragments.
Finally, the white light in the sky began to fade, but the impact of the “white night” rippled far and wide.
Everyone in the Snow Sea witnessed the unusual sight.
The first to be affected was a Wuheng Snow Valley disciple, injured during the earlier attack on Hades Hall.
Leaning against a cedar tree to catch her breath, she stood up, struggling towards the sea when the white night descended.
From there, she could see the island and the combat unfolding upon it.
Soon, even the Lord of Hades Hall and his men were compelled to pause their attack, their gazes transfixed on the endless white night.
Factions across the Snow Sea sent people to investigate the source of the mysterious light.
That night, sleep eluded many. But for Ji Shi, it felt like he might never wake again.
He had never believed Bai Lian capable of finding the Ancient Starry Sky Road. Yet, she had done it, albeit for only a moment.
What does this mean?
Ji Shi turned around, his movements stiff and deliberate. The Soul Chasing Blade in his right hand had pierced the back of Bai Lian’s soul.
He was sure of it. He had struck the weakness in the back of her soul—a fatal vulnerability for Star Lords.
If hit, it should have disrupted the Great Tao of Stars within her and rendered her immobile.
Yet, Bai Lian remained utterly unaffected.
She stood there as calm as a still lake, her gaze unwavering.
Her eyes… Ji Shi dared not look at them.
Finally, summoning his courage, he met her eyes.
They were calm. Too calm.
And there was something else—
A subtle hint of banter, as though mocking him:
“Is that all you’ve got?”
Bai Lian had indeed been startled when she was stabbed.
But to her surprise, she felt nothing. No pain, no harm.
Is this it? Are you trying to tickle me?
In that moment, she understood.
Ji Shi—this so-called mysterious figure—was nothing more than a paper tiger!
Damn it.
If he’s this weak, there’s no reason not to fight back!
A new task appeared before Bai Lian.
Task 1: Turn around and flee. (Reward: +1 Light Skill)
Task 2: Say loudly, “Who is invincible in this world?” (Reward: +2 in Tea Ceremony)
She didn’t hesitate.
Task 2 it is!
Calmly, Bai Lian pinched the Soul Chasing Blade between her fingers and gently pushed it toward Ji Shi.
She didn’t even move an inch.
The star glimmering at the corner of her eye was as radiant as a towering mountain.
In that serene moment, she softly uttered,
“Who is the invincible one in this world?”
Ji Shi panicked. Without hesitation, he threw the Soul Chasing Blade away.
This is it! This has to be it!
Bai Lian wasn’t just a Star Lord—she must have been an Immortal Emperor in her past life!
It was the only explanation for the overwhelming phenomena surrounding her and her ability to find the Ancient Starry Sky Road.
Even after being stabbed, she was unscathed. An Immortal Emperor would naturally lack the vulnerabilities of Star Lords.
“Bai Lian, you’re the reincarnation of an Immortal Emperor!”
Ji Shi’s voice echoed like the cry of a madman.
