Chapter 27: Bai Lian, the Star Lord Reaches Their Limit! (2)
There were no pupils in Ji Shi’s eyes, only hollow sockets illuminated by a shimmering silver light.
“In a way, Snow Spirit Lord, I am your master,” he declared.
His voice echoed directly into the Snow Spirit Lord’s mind, filling it with an ominous weight.
The three Snow Spirit Lords standing at the edge of the magic array froze simultaneously.
Ji Shi stood tall, his hands by his sides, gazing up at the radiant stars above.
“Without my guidance, you cannot comprehend the significance of Heavy Water and Light Water. And without that knowledge, you are doomed to fall to the Lord of the Hades Hall—just as you did twenty-two years ago. Do you understand what will become of Wuheng Snow Valley then? The gravity of the situation should not escape you,” he said coldly.
The Snow Spirit Lord’s hand tightened on the handrail beside her.
Her strength, not naturally robust, began to falter. The prolonged grip left her small hand red and trembling.
Ji Shi sneered, noticing her lack of response.
At that moment, the sky came alive with the light of countless massive stars, their brilliance making the Milky Way gleam even brighter.
From Ji Shi’s diminutive form, an ethereal shadow emerged, its aura extraordinary.
Finally, his true form was revealed—a tall man with a goatee, his soul separated from his decayed body.
Hovering in the air, he resembled a demonic figure poised to devour the world itself.
The Snow Spirit Lord’s body trembled involuntarily.
Is this the power of a Celestial Immortal from the Immortal World?
It’s terrifying…
Even descended into the mortal realm, he far surpassed anyone else in strength.
This… is the insurmountable gap between realms.
The Snow Spirit Lord’s fear of Bai Lian also stemmed from this.
Now, her only hope lay in Bai Lian’s power.
It was better to risk offending Bai Lian than to fall into Ji Shi’s grasp.
—
Meanwhile, An Lan, hiding in the water, was startled.
“An ancient monster has returned to life?” she muttered, her voice tinged with disgust.
The pungent smell of Ji Shi’s aura filled the air, making her wrinkle her nose. For a fleeting moment, she considered sticking out her tongue in distaste but decided it was unbecoming of her.
“Hmph!”
Suddenly, a cold, dull hum resonated from the sky.
The Snow Spirit Lord instinctively looked up.
Ji Shi cast a disdainful glance at her and spoke with venom.
“You disappoint me, Snow Spirit Lord. I elevated you to this position, yet now you conspire to rebel against me.”
“…”
“Do you think I don’t see through your petty schemes? Hahaha!”
His laughter was sharp, cutting through the still night air.
“I didn’t call you out on them because you were never significant enough to bother with!”
The Snow Spirit Lord gritted her teeth, her frustration boiling over.
Ji Shi shifted his gaze to the astrolabe, his tone full of malice.
“If you don’t believe me, go ahead and test me. Even in this weakened state, with my decayed body and fractured soul, I remain undefeated in this world!”
Majestic spirit Qi erupted from Ji Shi, its force knocking the Snow Spirit Lord backward.
She fell, unable to move, as though trapped in a mire of despair.
Exactly as Ji Shi had anticipated, her preparations amounted to nothing.
Fear gripped her heart, an icy panic spreading through her.
Without Bai Lian, Ji Shi might strip me of everything to compensate for his frailty.
—
Unaware of the unfolding chaos, Bai Lian was wholly immersed in navigating the Ancient Starry Sky Road through the astrolabe.
However, An Lan, still hidden, seethed with anger.
Damn you! Do you hear me? Damn you!
She gripped her lance tightly, silently preparing to strike Ji Shi from behind.
Ji Shi’s voice cut through the tension.
“Snow Spirit Lord, don’t worry. Once I’ve swallowed Bai Lian’s power, I’ll deal with you.”
He fell silent, his focus returning to the task at hand.
His words were not mere threats. The method he proposed could indeed uncover the Ancient Starry Sky Road.
But it came with extreme requirements:
First, the user must hail from the Immortal World and have the Great Tao’s acknowledgment.
Second, the materials for the magic array had to be infused with Immortal Spirit Qi, ideally containing the essence of the Great Tao.
Finally, even with these prerequisites, locating the Ancient Starry Sky Road depended on sheer luck in the vastness of the universe.
Ji Shi doubted Bai Lian’s ability to succeed.
He patiently awaited the moment her soul would detach completely from her body.
Despite his bravado, Ji Shi knew he could not directly overpower Bai Lian in combat.
While he could subdue the Snow Spirit Lord with techniques learned in the Immortal World, Bai Lian was a Star Lord reincarnate.
Her soul was whole, her body unblemished.
It was said that Bai Lian could summon the Milky Way itself with a single punch.
The thought alone chilled Ji Shi.
What other hidden powers might she possess?
He couldn’t afford to gamble. If his soul suffered severe damage, he would collapse immediately.
Thus, his strategy was simple: separate Bai Lian’s soul from her body and render her spirit Qi unusable.
—
Ji Shi held the Soul Chasing Blade, his confidence growing.
Countless shadows surrounded him, their forms flickering in and out of existence as he chanted words beyond the Snow Spirit Lord’s understanding.
The air around him surged with power.
He stood like an emperor, his presence dominating the island.
Even the stones, trees, and waves seemed to bow to him, their voices rising in unison:
“Master Long River!”
The trembling of Ji Shi’s soul halted, the white and purple lights surrounding him stilling.
This was the moment he had long awaited.
“Bai Lian,” he whispered, his tone filled with hunger, “I need your power to ascend my throne!”
—
Suddenly, the astrolabe’s spinning ceased.
After a moment of silence, Bai Lian withdrew her soul from it.
This was the opportunity Ji Shi had been waiting for.
Dark clouds swirled around him as he launched a barrage of luminous blades at Bai Lian.
He had discovered the Star Lord’s unique weakness.
If this attack succeeded, he was 90% certain she would lose her will to fight.
A cruel smile stretched across his lips as he shouted:
“You’re trapped, Bai Lian!”
