Chapter 23: Nevertheless, Bai Lian Has Already Seen Everything! (1)
As Bai Lian sat drinking tea with the mysterious lady, the members of Hades Hall grew more and more agitated.
This wasn’t just because Bai Lian had been robbed.
It was because the third young master of Hades Hall was disabled.
After the war, while clearing the battlefield, the disciples of Hades Hall stumbled upon the third young master amidst the wreckage.
He had been brutally beaten, his body a broken shell of what it once was.
His waist was shattered, and his head had been forced between his legs in a twisted, grotesque display—an accomplishment few could even dream of, let alone execute.
When they rescued him from the rubble, the third young master was unconscious. His chest appeared sunken, a deep concavity that could have fit a small fist.
“It has to be the Snow Spirit Lord!”
The Lord of Hades Hall, also gravely injured, was seething with rage. Smoke seemed to rise from his head as his face twisted in fury.
Then, unable to control his emotions, he broke down in tears.
“Oh, my son!”
Normally, the Lord of Hades Hall wouldn’t pay much attention to his third son. After all, their bond was purely by blood.
But seeing his son in such a condition—on the verge of death from a brutal injury—left him overwhelmed with sorrow. What crushed him even more was the helplessness he felt.
He couldn’t exact revenge. The Snow Spirit Lord had grown even stronger over the years, and her Modeling Heaven and Earth power nearly destroyed Hades Hall itself.
In the face of such despair, the Lord of Hades Hall had pinned all his hopes on Bai Lian.
But he never anticipated that a traitor lurked among them. After Bai Lian was acquired, the Snow Spirit Lord had captured her.
It was over.
“Check immediately,” the Lord of Hades Hall growled, clenching his teeth. “We need to find out who the traitor is!”
“Agreed,” the man in black, Yougui, bowed.
He paused before asking, “What should I do with the female disciple from the Duxian sect who came with Bai Lian?”
Upon returning with Bai Lian, he recalled the presence of Tong Yao.
At first, he had thought she might be useful, but now that the Snow Spirit Lord had captured Bai Lian, Tong Yao seemed to have outlived her purpose.
The Lord of Hades Hall scowled. “Keep her imprisoned.”
Yougui nodded, acknowledging the order. “As you wish.”
For a brief moment, it felt as though Hades Hall was surrounded by an iron curtain, and an oppressive danger hung in the air.
…
“Please!”
The young woman sitting across from Bai Lian pushed the teacup towards her, smiling with crescent-shaped eyes.
“…”
Although Bai Lian’s mind raced with countless thoughts, she managed to keep them under control.
As the famous saying goes, “The one who confesses first is at a disadvantage, and may end up…”
Wait.
I must have taken the wrong script.
Bai Lian picked up her teacup.
No matter what, she wouldn’t be the first to speak!
Despite the tension, Bai Lian’s face remained composed.
All thanks to her “Glass Heart” and the “Iron Face” spell she’d practiced relentlessly over the last four years.
Tea?
Drink!
Please, take your time!
Bai Lian had a remarkable skill for tea making. She noticed that while the tea itself was rather ordinary, the quality of the water was exceptional.
It almost felt like a waste, but she kept her thoughts to herself.
The young woman observing Bai Lian couldn’t help but nod in approval.
She had heard the stories—how nothing could faze Bai Lian, even if a mountain collapsed before her. Seeing it firsthand, she realized the tales were true.
With such poise, even if Bai Lian weren’t the reincarnation of a Star Lord, she would surely become someone remarkable in the future!
But no.
The young woman took a sip of her tea.
She was mistaken. At this very moment, Bai Lian possessed great potential, even if it wasn’t immediately apparent. With time, those abilities would grow and astonish everyone!
The young woman placed her teacup down on the saucer, then shook her head slightly.
Apologetically, she said, “I’m sorry for the ordinary tea. Please forgive the humble reception.”
Could you please try to sit still?
A new task option appeared before Bai Lian.
[Task 1: “I have some excellent tea here.” (Reward: +1 Soft Skill)]
[Task 2: “You’re not just drinking tea, but the snow scene and this hot spring!” (Reward: +1 Light Skill)]
[Task 3: “The tea may be ordinary, but the water and the people are not.” (Reward: +1 Tea Ceremony)]
Though all three tasks offered rewards in the form of skill points, Task 3 posed the least risk.
Task 3…
Bai Lian understood.
She relished in the praise.
With a faint, almost imperceptible smile, she said, “Tea is commonplace…”
“…”
For a moment, the young woman was clearly taken aback.
Had anyone else spoken those words, it would have been easy to dismiss them as mere flattery.
But Bai Lian?
Who exactly was Bai Lian?
The reincarnation of a Star Lord!
Would such a being need to boast?
Of course not.
The young woman thought back on Bai Lian’s standing in the East Divine Land.
