Chapter 22: An Lan Is Coming With a Lance (1)
The scene was chaotic.
When Bai Lian regained her senses, she found herself alone in the empty hall.
The hall appeared strange under the red light, like the abyss depicted in movies and TV shows.
Absurd.
Can anything truly shine here?
Her gaze landed on the shattered face of the Black Stone Ghost, which was now in pieces.
“Damn it!”
She stepped on it, crushing the Black Stone Ghost Face into ashes almost instantly.
A gentle breeze blew, scattering the dust.
And just like that, the world would have no trace of the Black Stone Ghost Face.
Great! With its disappearance, she no longer needed to keep her promise to “eat it on the spot.”
Bai Lian shook her head.
Though she wanted to keep her word, the Black Stone Ghost Face had turned to ashes. It wasn’t her fault.
With a sense of satisfaction, Bai Lian left the hall, resolving the issue once and for all.
She realized this was a golden opportunity to escape.
If the Hades Hall managed to overcome this crisis, the Lord of the Hades Hall would never let her slip away.
Bai Lian couldn’t afford to hesitate.
Her mastery of 8 skill points in Magic Array would help her evade most of the traps and magic arrays within the Hades Hall.
However, Bai Lian was more focused on the battle taking place outside.
She could not afford to be part of such a large-scale conflict. Even a small scratch from its aftermath could cause serious injury.
Above, the black clouds swirled.
Beneath the cloudless sky, countless snowflakes danced around a figure dressed in pure white, resembling ice.
At first glance, the dark clouds appeared to be a tumultuous sea of tempests.
The noonday sunlight filtered through, diffusing over the turbulent “tidal wave.”
The swift collision eventually brought a fleeting period of tranquility.
But don’t drop your guard—another faster impact is brewing.
Bai Lian understood this well.
The Lord of the Hades Hall, facing off against the Wuheng Snow Valley forces, understood this too.
The woman with the snow-colored hairpin was well aware of it as well.
In the battle that took place twenty-two years ago in Hengshui Valley, the difference in their strengths was minimal.
Even if he lost, the Lord of the Hades Hall usually wouldn’t have been seriously injured or at death’s door.
But back then, he fell straight into the Snow Spirit Lord’s trap as soon as the battle began.
Being a young man devoted to technology, how could he possibly defeat such a seasoned, ancient witch?
What made the Snow Spirit Lord even more terrifying was that she had already mastered the Meaning of Heavy Water before the battle.
The Lord of the Hades Hall had believed that Hating Water would diminish the Snow Spirit Lord’s power, but instead, it significantly amplified her abilities.
The result? The Snow Spirit Lord promptly defeated the Lord of the Hades Hall.
Yes.
There was no threat at all.
“I can do whatever I want to you, and there’s nothing you can do about it.”
The Snow Spirit Lord looked down at him with disdain, her words sharp.
The Lord of the Hades Hall burned with fury.
He was truly enraged.
Even when subjected to the most heinous acts, he’d never felt such intense hatred.
But…
He couldn’t seek revenge.
The Snow Spirit Lord’s power was overwhelming.
Even before the battle, she was already considered the most powerful being in the Snow Sea.
After the war, she had become so powerful that she could even defeat Immortals at the Transcendence Stage.
She resembled a Water Spirit Lord more than a Snow Spirit Lord.
“What are you doing, Snow Spirit Lord?”
The Lord of the Hades Hall shouted at the swirling frost and snow.
Although there were people behind him, he didn’t feel secure.
More than half of the Wuheng Snow Valley’s elite forces had arrived as well.
In these circumstances, he could only rely on the Hades Hall for protection—and even then, only for himself.
This was not the future he had envisioned.
He had always dreamed of becoming the most powerful being in the world.
He wanted every creature in the Snow Sea to cheer for him, to have the Snow Spirit Lord kneel before him in reverence!
But…
He was powerless.
The Lord of the Hades Hall’s face twisted with fury.
But the Snow Spirit Lord remained composed.
Beneath her white gauze, her voice was soft, like a warm spring breeze.
“I heard that you have apprehended Bai Lian from the Duxian sect.”
“!?”
The Lord of the Hades Hall froze.
How did the Snow Spirit Lord know about this?
It didn’t take long for him to realize—
There was a traitor in the Hall of Hades!
Other than him and Bai Lian, only Yougui, the mysterious man in black who had captured Bai Lian, knew about it.
“It can’t be him.”
Yougui had loyally served three Lords of the Hades Hall, and he was the one who captured Bai Lian. There was no way he would betray them.
As the Lord of the Hades Hall was about to dismiss the thought, the Snow Spirit Lord elegantly raised the snowflake earring that dangled from her left ear.
Ding Ling Ling.
Bai Lian’s eyes widened.
The pure bell chimed in the air.
In that instant, Bai Lian felt an overwhelming urge to kneel before the Snow Spirit Lord and pay her respects.
It was a Spirit Tool capable of controlling souls!
Bai Lian touched her earring.
Her dark blue earring could only conceal her Tao Halo.
Why such a vast wealth gap between the rich and the poor?
If she had just one high-grade Spirit Tool—let alone four—she could support the cultivation of forty Martial Sisters!
With calm poise, the Snow Spirit Lord addressed the Lord of the Hades Hall.
“Why lie to me? If I didn’t have precise information, how else would I have come to you?”
The Lord of the Hades Hall fell silent.
He swept his Divine Sense around but couldn’t detect any suspicious individuals.
Only a few subordinates, whose minds had been manipulated by the Snow Spirit Lord’s eardrop, were breathing heavily.
“Hum!”
The Lord of the Hades Hall grunted.
The sound of his magic startled everyone around him.
Those people woke up with a violent shake.
But when they looked at the Snow Spirit Lord again, they only felt overwhelmed.
She was too distant.
Like an eternal piece of ice.
People trembled simply standing beside her.
In other words…
Being beautiful is useless.
In this world, there are countless beautiful people.
The Lord of the Hades Hall replied nonchalantly, “And?”
The Snow Spirit Lord chuckled softly.
“I’m here to take Bai Lian.”
The Lord of the Hades Hall squinted.
“Are you trying to take her away from me?”
The Snow Spirit Lord explained, “I’ve always been on good terms with the Duxian sect. I can’t just stand by while Bai Lian suffers.”
“Fuck you!”
The Lord of the Hades Hall refrained from using profane words to maintain his dignity.
“When did you form a relationship with the Duxian sect? Why wasn’t I informed?”
“It’s personal. Why should I share it with you?”
The Snow Spirit Lord answered coolly.
“Lord of the Hades Hall, surrender Bai Lian to me. On behalf of her master, I will excuse your earlier discourtesy towards me.”
Her voice suddenly turned colder.
The snow and wind around her began to churn.
“That’s a lie!”
The Lord of the Hades Hall thought angrily.
He responded, “There’s been a misunderstanding. Bai Lian is my daughter. We’ve been separated for many years. This is a personal family matter…”
The Snow Spirit Lord interrupted.
“Bai Lian is your daughter? How can you prove it?”
“I have proof in the form of the ghost face!”
“The ghost face? Is this small trick even proof? I could make as many masks as I want—black, red, pink—you name it!”
The Snow Spirit Lord’s laughter echoed through the sky.
“Are you going to be unreasonable?”
The Lord of the Hades Hall snapped angrily.
“You’re the one being unreasonable. You crave being a father too much. You already have three sons and two daughters. Can’t they satisfy your wishes?”
“Watch your mouth, Snow Spirit Lord. Don’t go too far!”
The Lord of the Hades Hall materialized, countless black runes trailing behind him.
His intent to kill surged.
The Snow Spirit Lord wasn’t afraid.
Her melodious flute pierced the black clouds like a bullet, causing a deep crackling sound.
