Chapter 16: The Sinful Woman Within Me! (2)
Warmth coursed through Bai Lian’s body, so comforting that she couldn’t help but shiver.
“Well…”
An Lan pondered.
Bai Lian’s body appeared unchanged.
What set her apart from other women was her strength, granting her greater endurance and a faster recovery rate than average people.
Come on.
An Lan felt a bit suffocated.
She was completely useless. If she had any value, the “Death” mark on Bai Lian would have disappeared by now.
—
“Master?”
Noticing An Lan’s hesitation, Bai Lian called out softly.
An Lan replied, “It’s not a bad thing; it’s actually quite positive. You have fewer Death marks on your body.”
Bai Lian was taken aback.
She quickly grasped An Lan’s implication when she mentioned the loss of color.
So that’s what Shifu meant—there were fewer Death marks on her body.
—
A sudden warmth emerged within her.
The sensation left her body feeling numb, her legs weak.
Even though Shifu was severely hurt, she prioritized Bai Lian’s safety the moment she woke up.
It was regrettable that she had once wrongly accused An Lan of peeking at her skirt.
Shifu is still Shifu. Even if she wanted to see, what’s the big deal?
Bai Lian was consumed by self-blame.
Despite Shifu’s care and concern for her, she spent her time obsessing over how to make Shifu willingly like her.
I truly am a woman with a dark history.
—
At that moment, sudden footsteps echoed at the cave’s entrance.
The light faded.
Bai Lian turned to see Yan Yue rushing in.
—
“What happened?”
Yan Yue’s hair was a little messy, her clothes loose, her face full of anxiety.
Can she relax, even a little?
After fending off intruders who attempted to attack the sect leader, she had just planned to check the situation in the sect. But then, she was abruptly informed that An Lan had been gravely wounded.
That’s impossible!
This was her first thought.
An Lan’s strength is far greater than mine. How could she lose consciousness, even when injured? That bitch!
The Blood Tree Patriarch’s words shattered her final illusions:
“Do you think I’m lying? When Bai Lian carried An Lan into the forbidden area of Qiongming Peak, there were many witnesses.”
Damn.
Yan Yue stomped heavily on the ground.
At that moment, the “gratitude and resentment” between her and An Lan became irrelevant.
Casting aside all reservations, she rushed to the Duxian sect, clutching a transmission scroll.
—
She felt afraid.
If An Lan died like this, who would she seek revenge from?
Even as she entered the cave, she debated whether she should cry out, “Wake up soon!” or, “If you’re going to hit me, do it now, because once you recover, I’ll be gone.”
But…
Yan Yue’s expression froze.
—
That “bitch” was stroking Bai Lian’s hair! She seemed full of energy.
Where was the injury?
—
“Is the injury fake?!”
Yan Yue pointed at An Lan, trembling.
“You… weren’t you gravely injured and unconscious?”
—
Yes. Weren’t I gravely injured and unconscious?
Even An Lan was questioning herself at this point.
Oh no! Bai Lian might realize I was pretending!
An Lan’s eyes flickered as she covertly glanced at Bai Lian’s expressionless face.
Damn.
As a dignified master, she couldn’t allow such behavior to be exposed in front of her disciple!
—
Yan Yue approached the wooden bed, anger surging.
She felt deceived by An Lan—again.
If you’re faking, I’ll expose you!
“I have medical expertise. Let me give you a thorough check-up.”
—
No! Please, no!
An Lan backed away desperately until her hips hit the wall.
She immediately covered her chest.
“Ahhhh!”
Suddenly, she coughed up blood, staining the sheets red.
An Lan collapsed onto the quilt, curling up like a deflated balloon.
Her injuries had flared up again!
—
“Master!”
Bai Lian quickly lunged forward, catching An Lan and cradling her head against her shoulder.
“Master.”
She called out again, but An Lan’s eyes appeared unfocused.
Don’t look or shout! I… I can’t handle this now. Let me rest for a few days, and I’ll recover.
—
“What’s wrong?”
A group of people rushed into the cave.
Qiong Zhi’s expression changed upon seeing An Lan.
How did this happen?
Her energy channels had been affected earlier, but now it seemed her cultivation base had taken a hit as well.
The cave became lively, though the commotion was far from pleasant for either An Lan or Yan Yue.
—
I am truly a sinful woman!
As An Lan felt the warmth emanating from Bai Lian’s embrace, guilt consumed her.
She had deceived her disciple a second time.
Yan Yue, too, sank into her own pit of despair.
—
She didn’t want this.
She didn’t want to hurt An Lan.
But…
She had made a mistake.
It was wrong to doubt An Lan, someone virtuous and blameless.
—
Yan Yue shivered as a chill ran through her, freezing her from within.
