Chapter 15: What Are You Doing, Master? (2)
Bai Lian swiftly removed the star-shaped eardrop concealing her Tao Halo. Instantly, countless faint flickers of Tao Halo began swaying softly in the dim cave.
“What should I do?”
Bai Lian pressed her lips together in hesitation. She couldn’t control the Tao Halos, and it was clear that ordinary methods wouldn’t allow her to incorporate them into Shifu’s body.
“Then…”
She removed her shoes and socks.
Tao Halos radiated from her feet, and an idea crept into her mind—what if touching Shifu directly, with zero distance, might produce a miraculous effect?
Don’t be afraid.
With Shifu sound asleep, she could muster the courage to try. Even if she failed, it wouldn’t cause harm. But if she succeeded, she wouldn’t have to worry about Shifu entering her declining period.
Determined, Bai Lian climbed off the stool and carefully stepped onto An Lan’s bed.
The wooden bed creaked faintly under her weight, and she moved cautiously to avoid making too much noise.
At that very moment, An Lan, though feigning unconsciousness, was startled.
Her ears were extremely sensitive, and she had already noticed Bai Lian’s peculiar actions—removing her socks, climbing into her bed…
Wait.
Why did Bai Lian take off her clothes? And why did she climb directly onto my bed afterward?
Don’t you dare do anything suspicious. If you try, I’ll push you away, even if I have to pretend to be injured.
An Lan’s feet stiffened instinctively, but Bai Lian, caught up in her own nervousness, failed to notice.
She stood beside An Lan, took a deep breath, and slowly lifted her feet. Her pale, delicate feet, colder than the chill in the cave, hovered hesitantly.
Her round, pearl-like toes twitched anxiously, struggling to steady themselves. Finally, she pressed her foot gently against An Lan’s calf.
The faint fragrance of Tao Halos filled the cave, swirling like ethereal fairies.
Bai Lian froze.
Calm down!
She chastised herself. After all, hadn’t she done something far more daring in the game not long ago—stealing Shifu’s first kiss?
But An Lan, lying stiffly on the bed, was dumbfounded.
Why is Bai Lian stepping on me? Is she angry at me? Is this her way of venting dissatisfaction?
Her thoughts raced as she tried to make sense of the situation. Yet, as confused as she was, she couldn’t deny the softness of Bai Lian’s feet.
After several moments, Bai Lian let out a sigh and withdrew her foot, stepping down to sit on the stool again.
“Useless,” she murmured in disappointment.
The Tao Halo didn’t react. It refused to enter An Lan’s body. Bai Lian realized she had been overly optimistic.
Alas!
Her self-reproach deepened.
“It’s all my fault. If I had absolute power, would things have turned out differently?”
Bai Lian reached into her pouch, pulling out the medical pills Qiong Zhi had given her. She held them in her palm for a long time before deciding.
“Master, please take the medicine first.”
She placed the pills into An Lan’s mouth and used her Spirit Qi to help her digest them. Subconsciously, after pulling her hand away from An Lan’s lips, she gave her cheek a gentle poke.

An Lan nearly lost her composure. She fought the urge to punch Bai Lian but restrained herself, observing her next move instead.
Fortunately, Bai Lian simply retreated to the stool, her eyes filled with worry.
“It will be better,” she whispered softly. Exhaustion finally caught up with her as she leaned onto the bed and closed her eyes.
Her spirit and body were utterly drained.
Maybe everything will feel like a dream when I wake up.
The cave fell silent, enveloped in a tranquil stillness.
An Lan waited. She remained motionless for a quarter of an hour, ensuring Bai Lian had drifted into deep sleep. Then, slowly, she opened her eyes.
Whenever Bai Lian was near, time seemed to crawl, yet An Lan didn’t mind this peculiar sensation. It was a strange comfort.
Turning her head slightly, she suppressed every sound as her gaze swept over Bai Lian.
And then, her eyes widened.
So many Tao Halos…
Far more than she had ever seen around Bai Lian before. The luminous glow illuminated the cave in a surreal light, their numbers almost overwhelming.
An Lan’s attention drifted downward, settling on Bai Lian’s exposed calves. She squirmed forward cautiously, her curiosity getting the better of her.
Once she was close enough, she reached out and carefully measured Bai Lian’s leg with her hand.
The Tao Halos nearly reach her thighs!
As she examined further, her hand paused mid-air.
The ominous words of “Death” etched across Bai Lian’s body were fewer than before. Though only a small number had vanished, it marked an incredible change.
“This…”
An Lan was overwhelmed. For the first time, hope glimmered where there had been none.
Tears pricked her eyes.
It’s not much, but…
Her murmurs stirred Bai Lian from her slumber.
Rubbing her sleepy eyes, Bai Lian awoke to find her Shifu crouched beside her, tugging at her skirt as if peering underneath it.
“…”
The silence lasted a beat too long.
“Shifu, what are you doing?”
A scream erupted, echoing through the cave.
