Chapter 14: My Daughter Is All Grown Up (2)
An Lan flew to the edge of the woods, boiling with anger.
She had initially wanted to lash out at Si Yunshang, but when she saw Bai Lian’s back, she hesitated.
This isn’t good. Bai Lian might misunderstand her as someone with perverse tendencies, someone with controlling behavior.
An Lan chose to stay outside for a while, deciding not to enter unless Si Yunshang did something unusual.
She had to stop Si Yunshang, even if it meant Bai Lian would come to hate her, in case Si Yunshang planned something harmful.
An Lan clenched her fist, leaving a claw mark on the tree in front of her as she eavesdropped.
“Do you intend to kidnap Bai Lian?”
Better not even think about it! You deserve nothing but a punch from me!
Just as An Lan was about to rush out, she saw blood trickling from Si Yunshang’s mouth.
And then…
Too bad!
Si Yunshang was using this trick to gain Bai Lian’s sympathy.
Furthermore, Bai Lian had no intention of giving the bottle of white liquid to Si Yunshang, but she took it away forcibly.
Bastard.
Maybe it was something Bai Lian had prepared for her!
An Lan’s eyes seemed to burn with fury.
She couldn’t resist.
Stepping left, she emerged from behind the tree.
Stare~
Si Yunshang was startled and fled instantly.
An Lan nodded with satisfaction.
Now, only she and Bai Lian remained.
With that thought, An Lan clutched her chest and collapsed to the ground.
I can do that too!
“I, I am going to die soon.”
…
Bai Lian was incredibly fast.
She returned to the forbidden area of Qiongming Peak almost in the blink of an eye.
With surprise in their eyes, the others saw her grab An Lan and rush into the cave.
“What’s wrong with our master?”
Xiao Jinse paused, her sword frozen mid-air as she had been chopping down a tree to vent her anger at Si Yunshang.
She exchanged a glance with Su Youwei.
A few seconds later, Bai Lian emerged with a concerned expression on her face.
Qiong Zhi intercepted her and asked, “Is Master An Lan hurt?”
Bai Lian bit her lower lip and nodded, her thoughts a tangled mess.
Unfortunate endings from the game flashed through her mind, weighing heavily on her chest.
Qiong Zhi reached out, gently patting Bai Lian’s shoulder.
“Don’t worry. Master An Lan is strong, and she will be alright,” she reassured her.
“However…”
Bai Lian was at a loss for words, unsure how to explain to Qiong Zhi.
The period of decline?
That’s Shifu’s secret. I can’t reveal it to my Martial Sisters without Shifu’s consent, no matter how much they ask.
Bai Lian stood still, a dull ache in her heart.
This is a situation she had never faced since receiving the glass Heart.
The three younger Martial Sisters also felt the tension.
It was the first time they had seen Elder Martial Sister Bai Lian so visibly shaken.
The bond between Bai Lian and Shifu was truly unique.
Qiong Zhi sighed, “Anyway, I’ll go take a look at Master An Lan first.”
She walked toward the cave.
Bai Lian was stunned for a moment before hurrying to follow Qiong Zhi inside.
Inside the warm cave, An Lan lay on a wooden bed, eyes closed.
She looked remarkably calm, like a sleeping beauty.
But inside her heart, a tremendous wave was beginning to build.
This is the pivotal point!
I have to deceive Qiong Zhi successfully, or if Bai Lian finds out my injury is a pretense, I won’t be able to continue as her master.
Even so, An Lan wasn’t overly anxious.
Thousands of Flowers is a unique healing skill that can also be used to feign injury.
Let’s go!
Bai Lian nervously watched as Qiong Zhi examined An Lan’s wound.
“Master Qiong Zhi, how is my Master doing?”
Qiong Zhi was serious.
She took her time, examining carefully before responding, “The damage to her energy channels and the disorder of her Dantian were likely caused by sudden use of magical spells far beyond her capacity.”
Bai Lian’s eyes darkened.
Her guess was correct.
At that time, Shifu saw that she was in danger and became very worried. As a result, Shifu had decided to lift the seal on her true strength. Though Shifu had stopped the action, it still caused harm to her body.
This is the period of decline!
The War of the Gods explains in detail that because An Lan has been away from the Immortal World for such a long time, her soul can no longer access the immortal power and Great Tao energy. Depending on the game line, she could be trapped in her period of decline for at least 20 to 100 years.
If a solution is not found during this time, An Lan will perish.
Qiong Zhi patted Bai Lian on the shoulder again.
“Don’t worry. This injury is nothing for Master An Lan. After a few months of rest, she’ll recover. I have several Medical Pills to repair her meridians. Please take them.”
“Thank you, Master Qiong Zhi.”
Bai Lian nodded.
Though her eyes were still sad, her face remained calm.
She can’t panic.
It was her fault. She must bear the responsibility of saving An Lan’s life, even if it means risking her own.
“I’d like to be alone here for a bit.”
Bai Lian addressed her Martial Sisters.
After a moment of hesitation, Xiao Jinse replied.
Though concerned for Elder Martial Sister Bai Lian’s wellbeing, she understood that Bai Lian needed solitude to think.
“Shall we depart?”
Accompanied by Su Youwei and Yu Ying, Xiao Jinse left the cave.
Gradually, the cave fell silent.
Soft morning light filtered through the entrance. Bai Lian grabbed a small stool, placed it by An Lan’s bed, and gently held her right hand.
“Master.”
At this moment, nobody disturbed them.
An Lan believed so.
