Chapter 11: Showing Off! (1)
It was all so sudden!
At that moment, anxiety gripped both those in the sky and within the cave. Even Mu Yisheng was reveling in the joy of impending success. However, just then, Bai Lian, who was clearly under the control of the Yin Yuan Immortal Mirror, moved abruptly.
She grasped the Yin Yuan Immortal Mirror as though activating an unseen mechanism.
Initially, there was only an invisible gas.
Shashasha…
The previously still bamboo grove began to sway lightly, as if inhabited by a sprite. The cold silence, brimming with malice, gave way to a sudden eruption of vitality.
A blinding white light emanated from Bai Lian.
The white light was more potent than anything witnessed at Qiongming Peak. It pierced through the green shield, the magical mountain protection array, and even the clouds, finally breaching the sky itself. The bamboo forest filled with moist, fresh air, while the white light seemed to form a bridge to the void above.
Even Mu Yisheng, whose head had been struck, raised his gaze upward. Despite the absence of the sun, Bai Lian’s radiance illuminated the world, enough to bewilder all who witnessed it.
“It’s the light of the Natural Saint!”
Yu Xinghan’s trembling voice was the first to break the silence. Though uncertain at first, his declaration sent shivers down his spine. Gradually, others began to share his realization. It wasn’t merely a beam of light; it was a ladder to liberation, a beacon of hope after prolonged darkness. To those who had suffered under Mu Yisheng and the Yin Yuan Immortal Mirror, it was the ultimate symbol of gratitude.
Si Yunshang felt transported back to the moment she had bid farewell to Bai Lian in the forest.
Bai Lian, you are my light!
The eldest princess’s expression reflected awe, as if she were witnessing an entire galaxy. Emerging from Bai Lian’s [Field], she named it “Bai Lian’s Star River.” From there, she seemed to drift into the Ancient Starry Sky Road envisioned by the forefathers of Xingluo Dock.
Qiong Zhi noticed Yaoguang Star Lord returning to the Flying Fog and waved warmly from beneath the laurel tree. Zhao Haiya saw himself walking through the countryside, surrounded by people wearing contented smiles. Xia Qingqing envisioned herself embracing Bai Lian, their bodies pressed tenderly together. Xia Guiyuan saw…
Each person saw what they most longed to perceive.
It felt like a dream woven by the Saint.
The first to stir was Marquis Wu’an. Though his expression remained cold, his heart was deeply shaken. If Bai Lian was not eliminated now…
The consequences were unimaginable.
Then Mu Yisheng shattered the illusion.
Boom!
Mu Yisheng’s consciousness fully returned as the mirror fell from his grasp. Pain—searing and relentless—coursed through him. Memories of Yan Xiyi’s Seal Array surfaced, filling him with dread. He had been helpless then, repeatedly tormented. No! He couldn’t endure such a fate again.
Desperation fueled his resolve as he channeled all the spirit Qi in his body.
Kill Bai Lian.
He had to kill her immediately.
But the overwhelming white light surrounding him made it impossible to locate her. Laughter echoed in his ears, grating and incessant.
Too noisy!
Before he could act further, a white flame engulfed his body.
Wow!
The fire was so intense that it left him bald in the blink of an eye.
“Go away! Get away from me!”
Mu Yisheng flailed his arms desperately. He could see a woman clearly lying at his feet. Her eyes resembled tranquil winter waters. However, upon gazing at them for a moment, he realized that their hatred was unmistakable.
“Ah ah—”
Mu Yisheng forcefully kicked the woman. As he attempted to flee, he discovered another woman with a deep abdominal wound grasping his hand. Her face seemed familiar, but it held no significance to him. He wanted to escape, to break free from the oppressive scene surrounding him.
With a single strike, he knocked the woman aside and sprinted through the darkest section of the bright light. Many of the women were missing limbs and couldn’t impede his escape. After a brief moment, Mu Yisheng spotted a hole.
That’s the way out. Yes.
As the white light dimmed, Mu Yisheng found himself back in the bamboo forest. However, his relief was fleeting. The bamboo forest remained, but all the mountains and caves had vanished. Before him stood Bai Lian, enveloped in white flames, with countless “sparks” drifting behind her.
Is this the power of a Natural Saint?
Mu Yisheng involuntarily took a step back.
“It’s impossible to kill me!” he screamed. Five hundred years ago, Yan Xiyi couldn’t kill him, and five hundred years later, Bai Lian couldn’t either! He looked hysterical, like a crazed hyena.
“The Immortal Mirror of Yin Yuan!” Mu Yisheng raised his hand and called out. Surprisingly, the mirror around his neck didn’t budge.
What is happening?
Mu Yisheng gripped the mirror frame tightly with both hands, but despite his efforts, he couldn’t remove the broken mirror. In that moment, his once-powerful Magic Tool had transformed into nothing more than an inanimate collar.
“Hum.”
Bai Lian let out a snort. She thought Mu Yisheng was like a dog but refrained from saying it, as she believed it would insult dogs. Don’t dogs look cute? At least dogs wouldn’t lose their humanity through cultivation as Mu Yisheng had.
“You know what?” Bai Lian spoke in a cold voice. “Those souls are pure mirrors. They reflect what kind of person we are. If we are ugly on the inside, the reflection will be ugly. Our feelings of hate and fear are all reflections of ourselves.”
Mu Yisheng panted heavily.
Continuing, Bai Lian stated, “The process of cultivation is also known as ‘finding your true self.’ If this is what you truly are, it might be best to abandon the search altogether!”
Mu Yisheng let out a laugh.
And?
Nothing can restrain him, for he is an evil cultivator! Amidst the thousands of cultivation methods in the world, he yearns only for the one that can grant him immortality. To him, nothing holds value unless it can bestow immortality upon him.
He gazed fearlessly at Bai Lian.
No problem.
“I can kill you even without the Yin Yuan Immortal Mirror!”
