Chapter 11: The Other Half of Her Life Suddenly Appears (1)
Su Youwei’s sea of divine sense was in complete disarray.
This was a battle of life and death. No one would stop until it reached its end.
Standing silently at the edge of her divine sense, Su Youwei observed the chaotic battle unfolding before her.
Flashes of blood-colored light would streak through the scene, the sword Qi of her internal demon cutting through the air. The countless bloody sword lights gathered together were as magnificent as a thousand troops surging across a vast plain.
At times, dazzling white light burst forth. It was immense, towering, like the unyielding city walls at the far end of the plain. No matter how fiercely the blood-soaked “army” charged, even when the plain became a river of blood, the white wall remained steadfast.
“We must win!”
Su Youwei clasped her hands tightly.
The last time she felt such nerve-wracking tension was a month ago. In Hening City, when her second Elder Martial Sister chose to face Zhao Shuo of the Sword Washing Pavilion, Su Youwei had prayed fervently, just as she was now.
Back then, the words she cried out from the depths of her heart were the same as they were now:
We must win!
How strange it seemed to her. The second Elder Martial Sister was, without a doubt, her rival, yet she had not hesitated to pray for her victory.
In her previous life, she would never have done something so meaningless. Rivals were meant to be trampled underfoot, weren’t they? Once she got what she wanted, there was no reason to let them live.
But now…
She had changed. Quietly and without notice, she had changed.
Her rebirth had given her the chance to start anew. Meeting Elder Martial Sister Bai Lian made her yearn to break free from the darkness of her past.
After all, that past was something that had not truly “happened.”
If it hadn’t happened, it was no different from a dream. You wouldn’t be arrested for killing someone in a dream, would you?
As long as she didn’t speak of it, no one would ever know.
Does the internal demon know?
It didn’t matter. She would just kill it.
Go, Elder Martial Sister Bai Lian!
Su Youwei fixed her gaze on the internal demon floating in the air.
The fire that burned so brightly would eventually consume the internal demon itself.
In an instant, the river of blood that had flooded the plains disappeared, and the sea of divine sense grew calm once more. But then, in the boundless night sky, a blood moon rose, casting a red glow over the world.
The “Elder Martial Sister Bai Lian” who had withstood all the internal demon’s attacks raised her head. The internal demon was gone, her attention now drawn to the blood moon.
Su Youwei’s heart raced.
The internal demon was still alive.
The faint killing intent emanating from her internal demon filled the sea of divine sense.
Where would it strike next?
Su Youwei looked around cautiously.
Suddenly, the ground beneath her feet turned dark red. What had been solid ground softened, and strange, white, skeletal shapes began to rise from the earth.
She understood immediately.
This was the Land of Flesh and Blood, the Skeletal Forest, and the River of Blood.
Her eyes widened.
Su Youwei stood abruptly.
She pulled a knife from her sleeve and plunged it into the chest of a figure trying to bind her with ropes.
Suddenly, a scorching white flash descended from above.
“Su Youwei” and the figure were both obliterated, reduced to a splatter of white and red liquid raining down from the sky.
It was “Elder Martial Sister Bai Lian” who had killed them.
The blood moon blinked, as though it were an eye, and another Su Youwei emerged from the flesh and blood.
This time, she walked through the wilderness, accompanied by an old man in a tattered hat. A faint smile graced her lips. But as they passed each other, a cold light flickered in her hand.
Poof—
Blood splattered as the old man’s head flew into the air.
Su Youwei recognized the scene. It was when she had killed the head of the Su family.
Another fist shattered the gruesome memory.
The internal demon seemed to revel in this endless cycle.
One Su Youwei would fall, and another would rise from the blood-soaked land.
She and “Elder Martial Sister Bai Lian” seemed trapped in an eternal, twisted game.
Su Youwei watched it all unfold.
She saw herself die again and again. It was unbearable, but she forced herself to keep watching.
Closing her eyes would only bring forth worse images—ones filled with despair, involving Elder Martial Sister Bai Lian.
“Look!”
Her internal demon’s voice echoed in her mind.
“This is the indelible truth buried in your memory. You can lie to others, but you can’t lie to yourself. Neither the cold you nor the warm ‘Elder Martial Sister Bai Lian’ can fill that void!”
The internal demon’s words struck a nerve.
Su Youwei knew it was true.
This internal demon wasn’t like the others. It had developed a “heart,” becoming something closer to another version of herself—a shadow with its own soul.
Two paths.
Two lives.
Which one was better?
It was impossible to say.
“Is this our showdown?”
She whispered the word again and again.
Finally, she understood.
To truly move forward, she couldn’t rely on Elder Martial Sister Bai Lian or her internal demon. She had to face the shadows of her past and present herself.
Looking up, Su Youwei locked eyes with the internal demon.
They were so alike—white hair, red pupils—but still so different.
One wore blood-red robes, the other a white gown.
One walked barefoot, the other wore white stockings.
One wielded a plain iron sword, while the other carried the Dirt Free Sword, a gift from Elder Martial Sister Bai Lian.
“I don’t need your protection anymore,” Su Youwei said firmly.
Her internal demon had shielded her in the past, allowing her to survive through bloodshed.
“I don’t need Elder Martial Sister Bai Lian’s protection either.”
“Now, I can protect myself.”
She began walking toward her internal demon.
“Elder Martial Sister Bai Lian” moved to stop her, but Su Youwei gently pushed her aside.
“Stop, Elder Martial Sister Bai Lian. This is my fight.”
An invisible force carried Elder Martial Sister Bai Lian to the edge of the sea of divine sense.
Blinding white light erupted from Su Youwei as she stepped forward.
Wherever she walked, flesh melted, bones crumbled, and blood evaporated.
In moments, the sea of divine sense split into two—half white, half red.
Standing before her internal demon, Su Youwei stared fearlessly.
They both knew the truth.
This is the other me.
Come. Let’s settle this once and for all!
