Chapter 10: I Will Become You! (2)
That was a problem.
Su Youwei understood that what she faced now was merely the calm before the storm.
Deep within, she could feel the unwillingness emanating from her internal demon. Crimson thunderstorms raged within her mind.
What would come next was a relentless, ferocious battle.
She knew she might get hurt.
But she firmly believed that, with Elder Martial Sister Bai Lian’s unwavering support, she would emerge victorious in this conflict!
“Do it!”
Su Youwei spoke coldly to her internal demon.
The internal demon remained still, shaking its head unexpectedly.
“You still can’t face yourself.”
Su Youwei gritted her teeth and snapped, “You—”
Before she could finish, the internal demon interrupted her, as rudely as Su Youwei often interrupted it.
This was its revenge.
“No matter how cunning you try to be, all you’re doing is running away. You refuse to accept your past self because you fear letting Elder Martial Sister Bai Lian know about it.”
Su Youwei’s body trembled violently, and her long white hair floated unnaturally in the still air.
Pointing at the internal demon, she retorted, “Nonsense…”
“See?” The internal demon sneered. “There’s still a hole in your heart. The monster you imagine cannot fill that void!”
“You don’t know anything—”
“Don’t I?” the internal demon interrupted angrily. “You know I’m telling the truth! You can’t forget it. You can’t accept it. And now, you want to defeat me by clinging to an obsessive dependence. But the world doesn’t work that way!”
The internal demon’s shout reverberated like the toll of a bell.
Su Youwei opened her mouth but found herself unable to respond.
The internal demon spread its arms, feeling a strange satisfaction.
Interrupting someone like this felt fulfilling. No wonder Su Youwei had smiled so smugly last time.
Why should the internal demon live humbly?
No.
It decided, then and there, to set itself ablaze.
“If you want to defeat me completely, you must rely on your own strength!”
Su Youwei lowered her head in silence.
The internal demon continued, “Otherwise, even if I disappear, the hole in your heart will remain. One internal demon may fall, but countless others will rise to take its place!”
The internal demon stood motionless, awaiting Su Youwei’s response.
But what it saw next left it disappointed.
The imagined Elder Martial Sister Bai Lian, standing protectively beside Su Youwei, fixed it with a gaze brimming with killing intent.
Once again, retreat seemed like the best option.
It had always retreated before. But this time, it woke up.
“I see now,” the internal demon said.
Its voice was calm, but there was a newfound distance within it.
From this moment on, it was no longer her internal demon.
The sensation was peculiar, indescribable, as if something fundamental had shifted.
Su Youwei’s sea of divine sense began to tremble violently.
It felt like the world was ending.
The once-sunny landscape shattered in an instant, as an inky black night poured in like mercury from the cracks in the sky.
In no time, the sea of divine sense was engulfed in darkness.
“Ahhh—!”
Su Youwei screamed as she watched her internal demon, now ablaze, wailing within the flames.
The fire burned blood red.
With a deafening explosion, the flames erupted, illuminating half the sky.
She saw flashing sword shadows, the clash of life and death, and the remnants of shattered bones.
Moments later, a fierce killing intent surged forth from the flames.
The towering black silhouette of the internal demon twisted and shrank within the inferno, reconstructing itself.
Then, a sharp aura burst forth, slicing through the fire and creating a gaping chasm in the flames.
From the gap emerged a figure that left Su Youwei stunned.
It was her.
No—
It was her from another life.
This figure had appeared in countless visions before.
Long, pure white hair cascaded down, untouched by any speck of dust. Her ruby-red eyes sparkled with an intense brilliance.
Petite and frail, she draped herself in a blood-red robe. Barefoot, she walked out of the crimson flames, bone chains jingling softly around her ankles.
In her hand, she wielded a sword, its tip glistening with fresh blood.
A cold wind swept through the eternal night, causing her white hair to dance wildly.
The other Su Youwei gazed upon her current self with a proud, disdainful glare.
Her mouth curved into a sinister grin, her sharp white teeth no longer terrifying, but radiating a godlike majesty.
She was both a deity born for slaughter and a ruler towering above life and death.
Beneath her feet burned the fire of life itself.
Su Youwei wanted to call her “beautiful,” but the sheer indifference emanating from her froze her words.
Her eyes stung.
“This is the self you rejected!”
A commanding voice echoed from the flames.
Su Youwei’s body stiffened as her heart pounded like a midsummer thunderstorm.
Boom!
Unconsciously, she retreated a step, only to feel a warm hand rest reassuringly on her shoulder.
Turning her head, she saw Elder Martial Sister Bai Lian standing beside her, a calming presence amidst the chaos.
“Don’t be afraid,” Bai Lian said. “With me here, nothing can hurt you.”
Su Youwei nodded instinctively.
“Mm.”
She stepped back, retreating to the edge of her divine sense sea, leaving the battlefield to “Internal Demon Su Youwei” and “Imagined Bai Lian.”
The internal demon’s eyes remained filled with unshakable arrogance—the pride of a rebellious Shura.
Her sword was sharp enough to split the heavens.
And she had no intention of turning back.
Slowly, the internal demon closed her eyes.
I will become you.
And you…
Perhaps there are countless roads before you.
Let us decide.
If I win, I will drown the world in your hatred.
If you win, pray that no new internal demon arises.
The internal demon’s eyes flew open as she raised her sword high.
Blood painted the world as the blade carved a crimson river.
She charged toward the imagined Elder Martial Sister Bai Lian, her figure a blur by the Blood River’s edge.
For a fleeting moment, she looked at Su Youwei, who stood far behind.
I do not wield this sword to protect you.
I wield it because I wish to see the world beyond.
Su Youwei’s heart trembled as she reached out a hand.
“Wait!”
This battle shouldn’t be like this!
But the clash had already begun.
