Chapter 14: Elder Martial Sister, I Want to Be Your Sword! (2)
After a long silence, Zhao Shuo finally spoke. “So, you want me to experience humiliation again? Aren’t you the so-called Natural Saint? Would a Natural Saint resort to such bullying?”
Everyone fell silent.
Ju Buyi opened his mouth but said nothing. After his Sword Bearer lost his Scabbard, he had even lost the sword in his heart. He felt no bewilderment rather than sadness, as if his life had become an absurd drama.
Gu Quan’s reaction was more intense.
Bullying?
“Ah, here it is.”
His eyes blazed with anger. Whether Bai Lian chose to humiliate Zhao Shuo or let him go, her reputation would suffer.
How dare you, Zhao Shuo!
Bai Lian’s lips curled into a smile. Since she had chosen to stand up for Second Younger Martial Sister, she clearly didn’t care about the consequences to her reputation. She had considered all possible outcomes before coming. A mere Zhao Shuo couldn’t shake her resolve.
“If being a Natural Saint means forgiving those who bully others, then I don’t want to be a Natural Saint!” Her voice rang out like a great bell. “I don’t care if I am a Natural Saint!”
Gu Quan pondered these words in a daze. He realized Bai Lian was serious.
He too wouldn’t want to be such a Natural Saint!
His body trembled with excitement as understanding dawned. When he had done business in Hening City, he had seen Bai Lian in disguise, selflessly helping others. What he admired wasn’t her fame, but her actions! Even if everyone accused her of bullying after this, he would continue praising her without hesitation. The world needed more people like Bai Lian!
“Even the proud ‘swan’ lowers its head sometimes,” Bai Lian continued.
Zhao Shuo’s body trembled.
It wasn’t working.
His eyes reflected the floating sword before him. “Don’t come closer. I’m the Sword Bearer of the Sword Washing Pavilion…”
Bai Lian sneered. “I really intended to bully the weak, but now I’ve changed my mind.”
Zhao Shuo stared in confusion.
In the spotlight, Bai Lian turned and flew to Xiao Jinse.
“Elder Martial Sister.”
Xiao Jinse wiped her eyes. Looking down, she felt Elder Martial Sister Bai Lian was holding up a piece of the sky for her.
Bai Lian grabbed her hand. “Don’t cry. Today, I am the sword in your hand. I will strike wherever you direct me.”
Xiao Jinse tried to pull away but couldn’t. She glanced beside her, where Third Younger Martial Sister and the jade rabbit watched without envy or jealousy.
Warmth flooded her heart. The people she cared about, whether she liked or hated them, were supporting her now. Unprecedented courage welled up inside her.
A thousand foes won’t bend my will!
“Elder Martial Sister!”
Xiao Jinse felt connected to Elder Martial Sister Bai Lian in this moment, clearly sensing her intention. She gripped Bai Lian’s hand firmly.
“My Elder Martial Sister is my Elder Martial Sister, not a sword! I want to use my own sword to smash that nightmare!”
“I trust you.”
Bai Lian embraced Xiao Jinse before everyone. She felt no shame – anyone with a younger Martial Sister would do the same!
After releasing Second Martial Sister, Bai Lian dispelled the rain clouds, the thunder abyss, and the water charm. She stared calmly at Zhao Shuo. “I will give you a chance to suppress your cultivation base to the later stage of the Foundation Establishment Stage and fight with my Martial Sister. If you win, I will let you go. You are the Sword Bearer of the Sword Washing Pavilion. Don’t tell me you dare not even do this.”
Zhao Shuo’s face turned pale.
He gritted his teeth, his eyes twitching and fingers trembling, before finally grasping the sword floating before him.
“Good!”
His breath quickly weakened when a curse seal was pressed to his chest.
Xiao Jinse drew the Blowing Snow Sword and walked with steady steps into the challenge arena Bai Lian had designated.
The wind rose!
Ju Buyi, Taoist Lingye, Gu Quan, and the people of Chuncao Pavilion all stretched their necks beneath the clear sky to watch the flames Xiao Jinse summoned.
Xiao Jinse was determined to win.
She had once considered deliberately losing to the Sword Washing Pavilion’s people, pretending to have an internal demon to gain Martial Sister Bai Lian’s love.
The thought shamed her now.
Such actions would have earned not love but worry from Elder Martial Sister Bai Lian.
She didn’t want to see Elder Martial Sister Bai Lian worry.
She wanted to win.
She had to win.
She would tear apart the past, the present, and the future!
“Burning Snow Sword!”
Fire erupted across the ground as Xiao Jinse and the Blowing Snow Sword became one. Like a phoenix reborn from flames, she flew toward Zhao Shuo trailing endless waves of fire.
Zhao Shuo panicked.
He tried to block, but his sword was instantly blown away.
He tried to dodge, but flames blocked all escape routes.
He tried to fight back, but when the flame waves fell, his body shook and flew like a broken kite.
Bang!
Zhao Shuo crashed down.
Blood stained his lips, his chest scorched black.
He was the Sword Bearer of the Sword Washing Pavilion!
Yet in a fair fight, he had lost to Xiao Jinse, whom the Sword Washing Pavilion had cast out.
“Puff—”
Another mouthful of blood spurted from his mouth.
In that moment, Zhao Shuo’s Tao heart shattered.
His eyes darkened, the world before him turning gray.
Xiao Jinse withdrew her sword with deliberate slowness.
It was different now.
Taoist Lingye saw the light of sunrise in Xiao Jinse.
He sensed that soon, another dazzling star would rise in the Duxin sect.
Xiao Jinse turned to Bai Lian with a smile.
“Elder Martial Sister, I did it!”
She raised her hand and waved.
Bai Lian smiled. “Hmm.”
It seemed only she and Bai Lian existed in the world.
Xiao Jinse remembered their first meeting.
Elder Martial Sister Bai Lian had scolded all who mocked her, telling her things she still recalled in dreams.
Elder Martial Sister Bai Lian had promised she would grow strong enough to make the Sword Washing Pavilion tremble.
Unfortunately, when she first met Martial Sister Bai Lian, she had doubted her, thinking she must have hidden motives for helping.
But their relationship had slowly improved.
Just as distance tests a horse’s strength, time reveals a person’s sincerity.
Xiao Jinse ran to Bai Lian.
Elder Martial Sister, although I know you won’t agree and will tell me I should hold my sword for myself, I still think so—
I want to be your sword!
