Chapter 13: She’s Bai Lian! (1)
The rain was incessant.
Yet it was a sunny day outside the city.
Ju Buyi sat impassively on the smooth glazed tile, and the falling raindrops automatically slid a few feet away from him. He remained clean, neither wet nor marred by dust.
When he saw a white sword light rising from the sky in the distance, his eyelids twitched slightly. If he remembered correctly, it was near where Taoist Lingye lived.
Taoist Lingye again. Another sword light. The only difference was that this one contained fierce killing intent.
Ju Buyi looked around. That person was very strong! Even though the city patrolling guards knew someone was causing damage in the city, they remained in their office.
Stop that person? Do you want to die?
There was wine and food, and beautiful rain outside the window. Why go outside to jump into trouble?
People are selfish. Ju Buyi was also selfish.
He had a hunch that the chaos was caused by the woman he saw the night before. That woman was too terrible. She was very powerful, and what was more disturbing was her nature.
She had been so calm at that time! Even if the Immortal Heavenly Lord stood before her, she could probably maintain her composure. She was too confident!
Stirring the spring night with a Phantom Butterfly, as if she was certain she could easily control everything in the world. What a domineering person.
Ju Buyi had only seen this kind of character in the eldest princess of Heluo country. But in comparison, he felt that even the eldest princess was somewhat inferior to that woman. This was an indescribable intuition.
When a cultivator’s cultivation base enters a certain state, they develop a foreboding sense when something bad is about to happen. This was not an ordinary presentiment. If interpreted correctly, one could find opportunities within it.
Ju Buyi didn’t want to confront that strange woman. He had no confidence. Even if he could defeat her, he couldn’t kill her. In the end, he would only cause himself trouble.
But he had to go.
His cultivation base was very high, but his status was very low. He was just the “Scabbard” of the Sword Bearer. The strength of the Scabbard came not from his own cultivation, but from the Holy Spirit Sword Washing Pool. The Scabbard, after all, was just an “ornament” of the Sword Bearer. When the Sword Bearer grew up, the Scabbard would have to give all his cultivation base to them.
It should be so.
Ju Buyi stood up. Something was happening.
Outside the window stood Zhao Shuo, his Sword Bearer, and Zhao Shuo’s bodyguard, Bing Yi.
“You want to go and have a look?”
Zhao Shuo was handsome. The little golden crown on his head was the source of his pride. “It’s just a little trouble. Chuncao Pavilion can’t deal with it. I need to go there myself,” he said calmly.
“I advise you to stay away from this trouble,” Ju Buyi hesitated.
“Stay away from the trouble? Are you afraid?” Zhao Shuo smiled.
“Sometimes, a risk doesn’t have to be taken.”
“Go,” Zhao Shuo turned and commanded.
Let’s go. He couldn’t prevent it.
Ju Buyi followed him. As a Scabbard, he could not abandon Zhao Shuo unless he was no longer the Scabbard. But the Scabbard was bound with his life.
They met the people of Chuncao Pavilion outside the door. Meanwhile, Zhao Shuo squinted and entered the heavy rain.
More and more people gathered, but they only dared to stay outside the circle formed by Bai Lian’s sword Qi. Some tried to break in by force, only to be thrown back hundreds of meters, covered in small wounds.
When the rain flooded the ditch, the sword Qi suddenly fluctuated. In a flash of light, a group appeared less than ten feet from Bai Lian. Among them were both acquaintances and strangers.
Zhao Shuo stood at the front, hands behind his back. “It seems you are very dissatisfied with me?”
The sound reverberated far away.
Taoist Lingye looked anxiously at Ju Buyi and Bing Yi, knowing their strength. Xiao Jinse and Su Youwei shared the same bad feeling.
Though they hadn’t heard about Chuncao Pavilion’s people, they didn’t know Zhao Shuo and the others came from the Sword Washing Pavilion. Still, this didn’t prevent their worry.
Many stood opposite Elder Martial Sister Bai Lian, who stood alone.
On the eaves, Elder Martial Sister Bai Lian leaned on the Dirt Free Sword. Behind her lay only a dark world shrouded in clouds.
One person, one world.
When Zhao Shuo spoke, Bai Lian slowly drew the Dirt Free Sword. The sword light was subdued, but this was merely a prelude.
Two Soul Changing Stage cultivators stood opposite—one’s breath unstable and dismissible.
Are there many people? So what?!
Bai Lian’s world included the Tianshu Sword Array she laid, the Formation Flags and seal characters from An Lan, and her wish to pave a road to the sky for the Second Younger Martial Sister.
She wasn’t fighting alone!
She came out because the Second Martial Sister’s cultivation had stopped. She wanted to allow her to experience this.
Nothing could be better than breaking the high wall named “Sword Washing Pavilion” in the Second Younger Martial Sister’s heart.
Fairness and justice? Screw it!
She just wanted to wield her sword now.
“The Sword Washing Pavilion?” Bai Lian asked.
Xiao Jinse heard this clearly. Her anxious pupils suddenly shrank as she stared at Zhao Shuo. Su Youwei felt something similar, though Elder Martial Sister Bai Lian had temporarily made her forget these concerns.
The onlookers outside the sword array understood now. No wonder the patrol guards were late. Heluo country wasn’t afraid of the Sword Washing Pavilion, but ordinary city guards certainly were!
Zhao Shuo frowned. That look made him uncomfortable, and he always acted to restore his comfort.
He raised his eyebrows, sending golden light through the rain curtain straight toward Xiao Jinse’s eyebrows.
Unfortunately, before the golden light reached the sword array’s edge, an invisible force deflected it.
“Be careful!” Bing Yi immediately stepped forward to block the attack for Zhao Shuo.
“You are looking at the wrong person,” Bai Lian said calmly.
Zhao Shuo’s face darkened. If Bing Yi hadn’t reacted quickly enough, he would have lost face.
“Who are you?” he shouted.
“A person who is dissatisfied with you.”
“Since you know I am the Sword Bearer of the Sword Washing Pavilion, you still dare to wait here. You must have come prepared.”
“Of course.”
“That’s good, lest someone say I bully you.” Zhao Shuo sneered. “Draw the sword!”
Bing Yi drew his sword, but Ju Buyi hesitated.
“Why don’t you do it yourself? I can suppress my cultivation base to your level,” Bai Lian offered.
Zhao Shuo ignored her proposal and waved. Bing Yi circled to Bai Lian’s back, while Ju Buyi, blade across his arm, frowned. “I have no choice.”
“Ju Buyi is my Scabbard, and Bing Yi my bodyguard. If you can step over them, you’re qualified to fight me. Otherwise, you don’t deserve to challenge me!” Zhao Shuo declared.
How shameless. A hard fight seemed unavoidable.
Bai Lian took a deep breath. She’d wanted to hide her identity, but a serious fight would reveal it anyway. Better to show herself now and seize the momentum!
“I don’t deserve to challenge you?”
Bai Lian sneered.
In strength alone, the Sword Washing Pavilion couldn’t match the Duxian sect.
“The Scabbard, right?”
She brushed the blade, shaking white ice and snow from the Dirt Free Sword. As she ran the cultivation method in her body, it was like pressing time’s pause button.
The rain stopped.
Raindrops hung suspended in the air!
Ju Buyi noticed something wrong in the spirit Qi’s fluctuation. He suddenly turned to look at Bai Lian, seeing her form become light.
