Chapter 24: The Glory of Our Ancestors Is Guarded by Us! (2)
Bai Lian was upset.
The punch she had thrown was too mystical!
According to the system description, her Star Moon Special Effect would manifest during combat, but not to this exaggerated degree.
If this were an online game, a Special Effect like this would cost a fortune.
Out of nowhere, her abilities had gone from “Normal version” to “Promax version.”
Who could handle such an overpowered display?
The painting of stars and moon stretched across the sky for all to see. She had already heard excited shouts from outside, and it was only a matter of time before the demons of Flying Fog came knocking on her door.
“Maybe I should run away now?”
Bai Lian paced nervously.
She suspected that the rabbit demon she’d struck might have been killed by her punch. If it hadn’t returned by now, what else could explain its absence?
If that were true, her predicament would be even worse.
It was a shame there wasn’t an easy escape route.
As Bai Lian glanced around for a loophole, the jade rabbit hopped in. Its ears twitched anxiously as it stopped in front of her, blocking her path.
“Haw, haw!” it squeaked.
Bai Lian understood immediately.
The jade rabbit must be urging her to flee!
What a loyal companion. Bai Lian was moved. She leaned down to embrace the rabbit.
“Let’s run away together—”
But she stopped mid-sentence.
For the jade rabbit’s future, Bai Lian couldn’t selfishly involve it in her escape.
Hearing the word “together,” the jade rabbit shook its head vehemently.
We can’t go together!
It grabbed Bai Lian’s hand with its soft ears, trying to write an explanation on her palm.
Parting was bittersweet.
Bai Lian gently rubbed its ears. “Don’t worry. This will pass.”
She whispered, “I’ll be back.”
She was about to leap out the window when a heavy presence loomed outside.
Qiong Zhi and the other demonic beasts had surrounded her residence.
“…”
Well, well.
Bai Lian felt the oppressive tension in the air.
There was no way out now.
It was time to make a choice: cower forever or stand as a warrior, even if only for five minutes.
She chose the latter.
Squaring her shoulders, Bai Lian opened the door and stepped out.
The jade rabbit watched her with wide eyes.
Bai Lian stood alone against dozens of demonic beasts.
She raised her arms, her body glowing with a light that commanded awe.
To the jade rabbit, Bai Lian seemed taller than ever.
This wasn’t the poise of a Saint—it was the courage of a mortal.
Courage is a timeless hymn, sung across generations.
In that moment, the jade rabbit was profoundly moved.
I like her.
But…
Alas.
Bai Lian had already stepped into her rightful place.
The moonlight bathed her in a gentle glow, making her appear ethereal.
It was a good night for facing destiny.
Calmly, she straightened her clothes and met the gaze of the gathered beasts.
No one must see through my trembling heart.
Bai Lian said, “I know why you’re here.”
Standing beneath the moon, she looked like a fairy descended from heaven. Her serene demeanor seared itself into the memories of those present.
Many years later, the beasts would still recall this scene, which came to be known as “The Saint Under the Moon.”
“This is the heroic posture of our ancestor!”
A younger Yaoguang rabbit demon collapsed to the ground, overwhelmed with emotion.
“Yaoguang Star Lord, you’ve finally returned, sob…”
Its cry stirred the others, and they all bowed reverently.
“?”
What did you just say?
“Yaoguang Star Lord!”
The invincible Yaoguang Star Lord had returned!
The Flying Fog could now reclaim its former glory.
Amid the rising chatter, Bai Lian pieced together the truth.
They believed she was the reincarnation of the Yaoguang Rabbit Race’s legendary ancestor, Yaoguang Star Lord.
Damn it.
Bai Lian’s heart sank.
Why had she suddenly been promoted to “ancestor” of a group of rabbits thousands of miles from the Duxian sect?
This misunderstanding had gone too far!
She needed to clear it up immediately.
But explaining such a misunderstanding required tact.
A system prompt appeared before her:
[Task 1: Declare, “The Flying Fog, your Yaoguang Star Lord is back!” (Reward: Breakthrough to Soul Changing Stage)]
[Task 2: Deny being the reincarnation of Yaoguang Star Lord. (Reward: Middle-grade magic tool – Flying Cloud Burning Sun Lance)]
[Task 3: Confide to Qiong Zhi, “I’m not Yaoguang Star Lord; I only received her blessing.” (Reward: Light Skill +3)]
Task 2 was clearly a terrible option.
Bai Lian chose Task 3.
She whispered, “Flying Fog’s King, I need to speak with you alone.”
“Of course.”
Qiong Zhi immediately complied, instructing the others to wait before following Bai Lian into the house.
Inside, the jade rabbit glanced at Qiong Zhi nervously.
Bai Lian stood by the window, gazing into the moonlit night.
“This trip to Flying Fog has been a roller coaster,” she murmured.
Taking a breath, she began in a calm, ethereal voice.
“Actually, I am not…”
“What?” Qiong Zhi froze. Had she made a mistake?
Bai Lian pressed the ★ at the corner of her eye.
The Star Moon Disc unfolded behind her, radiating a sacred light.
The glow filled the room, spilling out into the night and illuminating the laurel tree outside.
Qiong Zhi’s tense body relaxed as a profound calm settled over her.
“I practice a water-type cultivation method, completely unrelated to Yaoguang Star Lord’s techniques,” Bai Lian explained.
“Moreover, Yaoguang Star Lord is still alive. Without her blessing, I wouldn’t have this power.”
“I believe that her enduring care for you transcended the barriers between the mortal and immortal worlds.”
“Seeing Flying Fog’s lineage preserved after thousands of years must bring her immense joy.”
Qiong Zhi’s heart softened at the word “lineage.”
Disappointment gave way to clarity.
If Yaoguang Star Lord were truly reincarnated, it would mean she had perished in the Immortal World—a thought Qiong Zhi could not bear.
For the Flying Fog, Yaoguang Star Lord had given everything, even suppressing her cultivation to protect them for as long as possible.
Hundreds of years later, she had ascended on a starlit night, smiling as she entrusted the Flying Fog’s future to its inhabitants.
“I was too greedy,” Qiong Zhi admitted, her voice trembling.
Her only wish now was for Yaoguang Star Lord to live peacefully in the Immortal World. She had done more than enough.
The Flying Fog was not solely hers to protect. Its glory was a responsibility shared by all its inhabitants.
“It is our duty to rebuild the Flying Fog’s glory!”
Her conviction burned bright. As the Flying Fog’s King, she would lead its revival.
Qiong Zhi turned to Bai Lian with a smile. “Does Yaoguang Star Lord have any message for us?”
Bai Lian shook her head. “Listen to her voice yourselves.”
Qiong Zhi nodded, her resolve strengthening.
She exited to address the other beasts, leaving Bai Lian relieved.
The misunderstanding was finally resolved.
But little did Bai Lian know that Qiong Zhi’s heart was brimming with new ideas.
This truly is a miracle!
The Natural Saint of the Duxian sect was perfect for Yao Ye.
A mother’s intuition never lies.
