Chapter 4: I Will Be a Rude Woman Today!
How could Bai Lian create a harmonious Qiongming Peak?
She knew this was a problem that would linger for a long time.
If the younger Martial Sisters couldn’t make Qiongming Peak feel like home, it would be impossible to achieve her goal. But how could she instill the concept of “home” into their hearts?
The methods from the game had proven to be dead ends.
As her gaze landed on Su Youwei, Bai Lian’s thoughts began to churn.
She realized that the younger Martial Sisters had to first acknowledge her as a good Martial Sister if they were to help her build the harmonious Qiongming Peak she envisioned.
However, what each younger Martial Sister considered a “good” Martial Sister was different.
For Su Youwei, the most important thing was to help her save the Fifth Elder and her aunt.
As for trust?
Even if Bai Lian gave her body to Su Youwei, it would still be difficult to earn her trust in such a short time.
“Sigh, looks like I’ll have to do it… and think about a solution afterward.”
Bai Lian’s eyes became steely with resolve.
The longer this dragged on, the worse the situation would become for Su Youwei. It was bad for her, and it was bad for Bai Lian.
For now, Bai Lian had decided to play the part of a rude woman.
Task 1 was out of the question. If she went down that path, the Third Martial Sister would think she was some kind of pervert, and doing it again would only reinforce that reputation.
Bai Lian’s eyes fell on Su Youwei.
The Third Martial Sister held her head high, but there was a strange, almost unreadable glint in her dark eyes.
Bai Lian focused, studying her for a long time.
Finally, she realized what was in Su Youwei’s eyes—“Fuck off.”
No. I can’t. I won’t.
Task 2 it is.
Judging by the reward, she could handle it.
Bai Lian turned to the jade rabbit, which had been quietly observing from the side.
“Go to the teahouse first. If you see anyone approaching, inform me immediately.”
“Haw,” the jade rabbit nodded gravely before vanishing in a blur.
Su Youwei flinched as the cute little rabbit disappeared.
Instead of feeling relieved, she felt her anxiety spike.
Something bad was about to happen.
She quickly tucked her right hand into her sleeve, her fingers wrapping around the hilt of a knife.
“No one will save you even if you shout!”
Bai Lian hummed as she released an enchantment that surrounded both herself and Su Youwei, locking them in a private space.
[Task completed. Reward: Nine Turns Earth Energy Pill delivered.]
Su Youwei shuddered.
The resentment in her expression could no longer be hidden.
How unfair was the world?
She had hoped that by living a new life, she could make up for all the regrets of her previous one. But no. The moment she obtained the Ten Thousand Poison Pearl, a terrible demon had appeared in her life.
In her past life, she had lost all her loved ones. In this life, was she going to lose her own body, too?
Su Youwei gritted her teeth in frustration.
She didn’t understand.
Why were so many people interested in her, of all people?
She would feel better if their true purpose was simply the Ten Thousand Poison Pearl. But this?
She was ready.
Once Bai Lian came closer, Su Youwei would stab the knife into her stomach, to show her resolve. She would not let those terrifying images come true.
It was better to treat her rebirth as a fleeting dream than to let Bai Lian humiliate her!
Bai Lian stepped forward.
Su Youwei swung the knife without hesitation.
But just as the blade was about to pierce Bai Lian’s abdomen, an invisible force struck her wrist.
Her body froze, and the knife slipped from her hand, clattering to the floor.
In that instant, Bai Lian’s voice rang softly in her ear, “Even if you want to die, you should think about the people you care about.”
Su Youwei went still.
The faces of the Fifth Elder and her aunt flashed in her mind, sharp and clear, like a final warning.
If Su Youwei died like this, her adoptive father and aunt would never have a good life afterward.
The girl’s body trembled violently.
The world felt so dark. Even though she had the immortal’s relics, she couldn’t see a single spark of light.
“Is this a threat?”
New task options appeared before Bai Lian’s eyes:
[Task 1: “Yes, this is a threat!” (Reward: an inferior magic tool – Green Lotus Clothes)]
[Task 2: “Of course not.” (Reward: Music +1)]
Of course, I’ll choose Task 1.
“Yes, this is a threat!” Bai Lian nodded with a calm expression. “But I’d prefer to describe it as a ‘kind reminder.’”
[Task completed. Green Lotus Clothes have been delivered.]
But it didn’t matter.
Su Youwei didn’t even hear the second half of Bai Lian’s words.
She could see no way out of the situation. She couldn’t leave the Fifth Elder and her aunt to their fate; doing so would mean completely denying her past.
It’s all because of my lack of strength.
Su Youwei’s lips curled into a bitter smile.
All right then.
It was better to give her body to Bai Lian than to the son of the Red Moon Sect’s sect leader. At least with Bai Lian, there might still be a chance to save the Fifth Elder and her aunt.
“I will cooperate with all your requests… if you promise to take my adoptive father and aunt with you.”
“No problem,” Bai Lian replied smoothly. “You just need to come with me first, and I’ll find a safe place where we won’t be easily found.”
You…
Su Youwei thought, You agreed to save them first, then you’ll have my body in return.
She almost spoke the words aloud but stopped herself. At this point, she didn’t dare anger Bai Lian.
She had no choice but to trust her.
Bai Lian could see the deep prejudice in Su Youwei’s eyes, but she wasn’t about to waste time. If things dragged on any longer, she wasn’t sure how long it would take to return to the Duxian Sect.
My stupid Third Martial Sister, Bai Lian thought with a sigh. You have to understand, it’s not your fault, it’s the world’s.
Just as Bai Lian was about to take Su Youwei away, a loud clanging sound echoed from the next room.
A ferocious dog kicked over a wooden box and stepped out of the shadows.
“?!”
Bai Lian’s eyes widened in shock.
This dog has the strength of the Foundation Establishment Stage!
“Is this one of the potential threats?” Bai Lian asked, turning to Su Youwei. “Is it responsible for monitoring you?”
Su Youwei shook her head in confusion.
She had never known there was such a thing. If there had been a powerful spirit dog watching her, she would never have escaped in her previous life.
“Oh.”
Before the dog could even howl, Bai Lian drew her sword and severed its head in one swift motion. She then stored the body in her storage pendant.
To prevent the smell of blood from alerting others, she sprinkled a bit of ecstasy powder over the area. This would ensure that even if someone noticed something was off, they would be distracted and confused by the scent, buying them time.
“Let’s go.”
Bai Lian grabbed Su Youwei’s hand.
Su Youwei hesitated for a moment, struggling against her hold, but eventually leaned obediently against Bai Lian’s back.
She suddenly realized that Bai Lian’s back felt unexpectedly thin.
If only I really had a Martial Sister who cared about me…
Su Youwei felt a deep exhaustion. Maybe only in her dreams could she find the opportunity to rest and be cared for.
