Chapter 12: Does the Reincarnated Third Younger Martial Sister Dream of the Elder Martial Sister?
“One might have learned the doctrine earlier than the other or might be a master in their own special field.”
Elder Martial Brother Zhao now held an unshakable belief in Bai Lian’s character.
If Bai Lian could inspire Martial Sister Xia to care for others in less than a day, he thought, how much could she transform if sent to train in the Duxian Sect for three to five months?
Wouldn’t Martial Sister Xia emerge a true heroine?
Unfortunately, this was wishful thinking.
His Master doted on her daughter and would never agree to let Xia Qingqing venture out for such a long time.
“Unfortunate.”
Brother Zhao sighed and shook his head.
If Bai Lian were a man, things might have been different. His Master constantly worried about Xia Qingqing’s prospects for marriage. If Bai Lian were “Young Master Bai Lian,” the Master might even encourage their time together!
But now wasn’t the time for idle fantasies. They had urgent matters to address—saving the Martial Sisters captured by the Red Moon Sect.
“All of you, follow me!”
With a commanding shout, Elder Martial Brother Zhao’s blue Taoist robe billowed dramatically in the wind.
A Nascent Soul Stage cultivator, his strength was unparalleled here. Not even the supreme elder of the Red Moon Sect could rival him, let alone their low-level disciples.
His strategy was direct—charge forward and deal with any obstacles head-on.
Gripping a long lance, Elder Martial Brother Zhao carved a path like a wild berserker. Anyone daring to intercept him was dispatched with swift, deadly precision. They didn’t even have time to alert their companions before their lives ended.
This brutal efficiency allowed their group to infiltrate the Red Moon Sect undetected.
This was Martial Brother Zhao’s version of “sneaking.”
Seeing his fearsome display, Bai Lian felt her worries fade.
Although Xia Qingqing had been a trouble magnet, without her, Bai Lian might not have been able to return to the Duxian Sect so easily.
Elder Martial Brother Zhao, however, had no intention of continuing his subtle approach.
Standing boldly before the Red Moon Sect’s gate, he bellowed, “Red Moon Sect, get out here!”
“Who’s making that racket?!”
It wasn’t long before members of the Red Moon Sect appeared.
Despite being outmatched, the villains remained unfazed, their dedication to their roles unwavering.
“How dare you!”
“You dare provoke the Red Moon Sect? No one in this world can save you!”
One particularly arrogant disciple sneered, “I’m short of a cute little rabbit. You look pretty nice—come here and let me have some fun!”
(PS: In Chinese, calling someone a “rabbit” can be a slur, referring to their sexual orientation.)
Dong!
The jade rabbit’s ears twitched at the insult.
“Not you,” Bai Lian quickly reassured the jade rabbit, pulling it back before it could cause a scene.
Even Elder Martial Brother Zhao couldn’t hold back his fury this time.
“How dare you insult the Tianji Sect? Die!”
His eyes burned with rage as he thrust his lance toward the disciple who had spoken.
Pa! Pa! Pa!
The lance struck with lethal accuracy, leaving the offending disciple dead in seconds.
Seeing their comrade’s swift demise, the other Red Moon Sect disciples scattered like frightened mice.
“No, no!”
The sect leader and elders of the Red Moon Sect were soon informed of the intrusion.
“How did the Tianji Sect’s people arrive so quickly?”
“Go to the back mountain and summon the Supreme Elder!”
The sect leader barked the command, and a disciple hurriedly ran off to carry it out.
Meanwhile, the sect leader and elders gathered in a circle, their expressions grim.
Had it not been for the orders from “Above,” they would never have dared provoke the Tianji Sect. Yet, the Tianji Sect’s vengeance had arrived before the mysterious person who gave the orders even showed themselves.
What now?
Half an hour later, the disciple who had been sent to summon the Supreme Elder stumbled back, pale and trembling.
The sect leader’s eyes lit up with a flicker of hope. “Did the Supreme Elder agree to help?”
The disciple dropped to his knees, wailing. “The Supreme Elder… has been killed by the intruders!”
“…”

A red pillar of light shot into the sky, signaling the activation of the Red Moon Sect’s forbidden array.
Bai Lian felt the world around her shift. The grand palace that had stood before them vanished, replaced by a raised stone platform.
A woman with disheveled hair was tied to the platform, her body covered in bloodied cuts. The stone beneath her was stained red, the air heavy with the metallic scent of blood.
“Senior Sister!”
Xia Qingqing’s eyes filled with tears, and she instinctively wiped at the corners.
Her heart ached with guilt. If it hadn’t been for her reckless actions, her Martial Sister would never have fallen into such a tragic state.
She started to rush forward but suddenly froze as Bai Lian’s composed figure flashed through her mind.
Clenching her fists, she forced herself to remain calm.
Elder Martial Sister’s appearance here must mean there’s more going on. I can’t make things worse by acting impulsively!
Bai Lian raised an eyebrow, glancing at Xia Qingqing with suspicion.
Why aren’t you charging forward this time? What about the mission? Where are my task options?
Elder Martial Brother Zhao stopped in his tracks as well, his expression turning serious.
“This isn’t a particularly advanced forbidden array,” he muttered, “but it’s complex enough that breaking it will take time. Forcing it open will risk harming younger Martial Sister Wu. She’s already gravely injured… I don’t dare take the chance.”
Xia Qingqing turned to Bai Lian, her eyes filled with desperation.
“Elder Sister Bai Lian, please help!”
“…”
Bai Lian’s face remained impassive as she silently cursed her luck.
Why are you looking at me like that? I’m not Doraemon!
Clearing her throat, she said, “I’m not particularly familiar with this kind of forbidden array, so…”
Before she could finish, Elder Martial Brother Zhao fixed her with a determined gaze, cutting her off.
