Chapter 8 Part 1: Yin-Yang Fusion Technique (1)
The sky appeared dark blue, casting an ethereal glow.
Beyond the shimmering water curtain, a bright white light swirled and radiated.
The air carried a cool, watery scent, filling the atmosphere.
It was as though the breath emanating from it reached across time, profound and vast, yet still brimming with generosity.
With a soft brush, the living creatures in the Taicang basin, those still hanging onto life, were revitalized, instantly becoming a hundred times more vibrant.
Such a commotion didn’t go unnoticed by Bai Lian or the dark shadow.
Before Bai Lian could make a move, the dark shadow that had been lingering near her withdrew its presence.
“…”
It turned its back, defenseless, as if one more step forward could trigger a deadly strike.
However, Bai Lian did not act impulsively.
The shadow was not human.
Even if this strike could obliterate its form, it would regenerate in the magic array.
She was fatigued, and her immediate priority was to restore her strength, using the remaining Immortal Spirit Stone’s Qi for herself.
Only then could she break through the shadow’s defenses in the coming battle and destroy the ancient magic arrays.
With that in mind, Bai Lian gripped her right chest, drawing in several deep breaths as her body gently swayed.
The white waves surged.
Ripples spread outward, each one radiating further.
The shadow receded, and moonlight returned to the scene.
At last, Bai Lian’s grand water curtain, enhanced by Water Spirit and Fu Zhu Special Effects, vibrated in unison.
Clatter——
The waves surged.
Under the influence of the waves, the brilliant white light intensified, growing ever brighter.
Bai Lian pondered on the indistinct and radiant center.
She felt the energy within it was familiar.
“Could it be…”
She couldn’t suppress the thought.
Moments later, when the energy contained in the white light reached its peak, a tremendous explosion erupted!
A thick beam of white light, two meters wide, shot forward.
It pierced through Bai Lian’s water curtain, scattering the black shadows around her.
It drowned Fu Zhu that hung above the heavens.
The light continued, entering the endless expanse of sparkling stars.
Then, it seemed to strike an invisible, colossal barrier.
Boom!
The sky resounded with a silent explosion.
Sword energy surged three million miles.
The tremendous force tore apart the night sky, even disintegrating the newly risen Milky Way in an instant!
However, despite the overwhelming explosion, the barrier held firm.
The scattered white light had nowhere to rise, eventually transforming into starlight falling like rain.
Bit by bit.
The most beautiful moment had arrived.
Surrounded by countless stars, Bai Lian felt as if she had left the Earth and ventured into the boundless cosmos.
Just then, she noticed something new.
Clap!
Bai Lian raised her hand to her right eye.
It was the spot where her master had drawn a star.
Now, that star glowed on its own, without any command from her.
It emitted a dazzling light, reminiscent of the falling stars above.
Bai Lian’s eyes widened.
She saw it.
A figure materialized from the white light!
The figure appeared small, perhaps around four feet tall.
The figure moved with a steady gait, her right hand extended downward, holding a sharp blade.
At first, Bai Lian could not identify her, but the ribbons swaying above the figure’s head immediately made her realize.
“The jade rabbit!”
It was unmistakable.
It must be the transformed jade rabbit!
Bai Lian recalled the familiar scent she had sensed before.
It had been under the laurel tree.
That moment when her dreams intertwined with the jade rabbit’s.
They passed through the bustling streets of Flying Fog, traveled through the darkness between dreams, and finally reached the Lantern Festival, buried deep within her memories.
There, the jade rabbit had taken human form.
She was a sweet girl in a light blue long dress, her bunny ears drooping and her white hair flowing.
She looked like an innocent 14-year-old.
In truth, the jade rabbit hadn’t yet reached adulthood by human standards.
Now, several years had passed.
The girl who appeared from the white light was identical to the one Bai Lian had met back then.
She still wore her light blue dress, her ears drooping, her face still innocent.
The only difference was her eyes.
The childlike curiosity had faded, replaced by an unyielding determination, much like the sword she held.
Bai Lian’s tense expression softened.
So, it’s time.
Chop, chop, chop!
The jade rabbit swiftly drew her sword and struck.
The sword cut through the air, and the world itself seemed to change.
Sword qi sliced through the bright moon, tearing through the Great Tao to create a rift into the heavens!
Unable to remain still any longer, the dark shadow transformed into a towering black wave, surging toward the jade rabbit.
In response, the jade rabbit became a streak of light, leaving behind a trail of radiance, weaving it into a net that surrounded both the shadow and the moon.
“Bai Lian!”
A tender, yet determined voice reached Bai Lian’s ears.
Bai Lian relaxed.
I understand!
Though the jade rabbit didn’t say it directly, Bai Lian could sense her intentions.
After all, they had spent years together. She knew exactly what the jade rabbit wanted with every move.
So, it’s time to charge ahead?
Now that Bai Lian’s strength had been restored, she was ready to charge without hesitation!
With a fierce, cold resolve, she rushed toward the magic arrays below.
She had to act quickly.
Only this way could she honor the jade rabbit’s expectations.
The jade rabbit had shown immense power, holding off the dark shadow, but such a feat couldn’t be sustained forever.
Bai Lian aimed to destroy the magic arrays before the jade rabbit’s strength faltered.
Sensing the danger, the dark shadow was forced to split its attention.
It had to divide part of its power to confront Bai Lian.
Facing a weakened opponent, Bai Lian showed no mercy.
This was the moment she embodied the spirit of “Elder Martial Sister Bai Lian.”
[Heavy fist attack]
Papa Papa!
Bai Lian’s water sword, coated in frost, burned with the intensity of fire as she struck, eradicating the surrounding darkness.
The black shadow, resolute and ever-recurring from the magic array, was weakened by the jade rabbit’s hold, its power diminished.
Go to hell!
Die!
Wherever Bai Lian passed, ice formed in her wake.
With the jade rabbit pushing her forward, nothing could stop her now.
This was the strength of the Bai Lian-Jade Rabbit Alliance!
She broke free from the black tide and reached the first magic array.
Brake——
Another shadow arose from the magic array, but before it could act, a cold sword strike cut through the air.
A head flew toward the sky, its body disintegrating into black mist.
Bai Lian, without emotion, swung her sword.
Thousands of drops of water fell, drowning the array in an instant.
Without looking back, Bai Lian moved toward the next array, her Light Water turning into Heavy Water, crushing the magic array in one blow.
As the arrays fell, the dark shadow weakened further.
She fought with relentless power, crushing all obstacles in her path like a locomotive, obliterating the demons that dared stand before her.
At the final stage, Bai Lian no longer needed to move.
She scattered droplets around, and wherever they fell, the shadows were revealed.
Suddenly, the droplets converged into one, as freezing energy erupted, dancing like beams of light throughout the space.
Shasha…
Laser cutting.
With a deafening blast, the magic arrays collapsed one by one, until only the largest one remained, still resisting.
The shadows withdrew, and the jade rabbit, freed from her restraint, gracefully landed beside Bai Lian.
“You stay here. I’ll return soon.”
The familiar words.
The jade rabbit nodded, having done her part.
“Hmm.”
Bai Lian smiled, a warmth spreading across her face like the winter sun.
Her smile, though unusual for the moment, was something the jade rabbit always cherished.
She liked seeing Bai Lian smile, as that’s when she looked her best.
Bai Lian turned and walked away.
The last black shadow still lingered in the final magic array.
Stronger than before, the shadow’s power couldn’t match Bai Lian now.
“This strange disaster must end!”
Bai Lian drove her sword into the shadow’s form.
The last bit of Immortal Spirit Qi surged through her body, overwhelming and violent, destroying the shadow instantly and obliterating the magic array.
When the source of the disaster dissolved, the earth trembled.
Space contorted.
Bai Lian gasped as the Black Forest vanished, and before her, stood a massive plaza.
She looked around, realizing she was in the ruins of an ancient sect.
A broken Divine Sense floated by, and she immediately seized it.
A sour taste lingered?
Flashes of images filled her mind, giving her a rough understanding of the current situation.
