Chapter 2: I’m Worrying About You (2)
She simply sat down on the wooden steps outside the entrance.
Tonight?
It’s surprisingly cold.
The moonlight is pallid white, like frost coating the land.
Even Bai Lian, halfway on her journey, couldn’t help but put on a light blue robe.
She used to like wearing white clothes, but gradually, she began to wear blue because her master preferred it.
Bai Lian’s next destination is Zhuyan Peak.
To reach North Luzhou quickly, one must have a long-distance teleportation symbol.
As a wealthy woman, Yan Yue has at least hundreds of these symbols.
Uninterrupted, she made her way and found Yan Yue playing the piano in the pavilion.
After explaining her intentions, Yan Yue immediately gave her four Heavenly Surveillance Talismans.
“If you don’t have enough, ask me for more.”
“Enough, thank you, Master Yan…”
“Call me Yan Yue!”
“Yes, Yan Yue.”
Yan Yue’s eyes narrowed slightly.
The dark-colored robe complemented the presence of the Blood Tree Patriarch.
These days are probably the happiest times for her.
Easy, carefree, and without worry.
After Bai Lian left, the Blood Tree Patriarch suddenly asked, “Do you notice that Bai Lian is different from usual today?”
“Eh?”
Yan Yue’s finger moved away from the piano strings.
Today, Bai Lian exhibited a serenity she had never shown before.
“Shouldn’t be anything, right?” Yan Yue murmured.
The Blood Tree Patriarch lowered his head, “Perhaps I’m too sensitive to what’s between you two.”
“Of course,” Yan Yue laughed, her dimples showing slightly.
Bai Lian’s third stop was the master’s cave.
She and her master had secretly agreed that she must inform her master in advance if she was going to be away for an emergency.
She didn’t want to break the agreement on her first time.
That would surely leave a very bad impression on the master.
Before leaving, Bai Lian had a midnight snack.
Pickled Cucumber, Cumin Potatoes, and Spicy Crayfish…
It might not be much, but she didn’t have anything more valuable in her hands that would appeal to the master.
“Come in.”
Hearing the noise outside the cave, An Lan called out.
Bai Lian immediately walked in with a smile on her face.
“Master!”
She arranged the late-night snacks on the table like a magician.
An Lan asked curiously, “What are you up to now?”
Bai Lian sat by the table. “Since you didn’t come for dinner during the day, I thought I should come and have supper with you.”
“…”
An Lan’s heartbeat slowed by half a beat.
She turned her head slightly, glancing from Bai Lian to the stone shelf.
“I’ve already reached the state of fasting, so there’s no need for me to eat anything at all.”
“This is something I made with my own hands,” Bai Lian said softly.
An Lan replied, “Then you can eat it yourself.”
“I don’t want to!”
Bai Lian had no intention of giving in at all; she just went straight for it.
Humph.
Today, she was going to make sure An Lan ate, whether she liked it or not!
Better be good.
Otherwise, her behind would be beaten to a pulp, and she’d stuff a cucumber deep into her throat, filling her stomach too!
So, An Lan saw Bai Lian walking over with a plate of pickled cucumbers.
Very close.
Bai Lian knelt beside the bed, her upper body quickly moving closer to An Lan.
Hey.
What is she up to?
An Lan felt as if her weak spot had been poked, and her head instinctively shrank back.
Get out of here! Get out of here!
It’ll get dirty!
This white bed will be covered with dirt!
An Lan raised her hand, ready to knock both Bai Lian and the plate away.
But just as she was about to act, she remembered Bai Lian’s words: “This is something I made with my own hands.”
She changed her mind.
Her Divine Sense moved, and Bai Lian’s body was immediately immobilized.
Bai Lian was powerless to act, so her master could do whatever she wanted with her.
An Lan didn’t have any bad intentions.
She slipped out from beneath Bai Lian’s arm.
“Since you asked me sincerely, I will be merciful and accompany you for a late-night snack.”
It wasn’t until An Lan sat down on the stone seat that she released her restraint on Bai Lian.
This isn’t a good sign!
Suddenly freed, Bai Lian thought to herself.
But…
It’s nearly impossible for her to surpass her master.
The “offense” and “defense” situation seems too bleak!
Bai Lian sat down gloomily next to the table.
An Lan felt victorious after regaining control of the situation.
Although the cave’s candlelight flickered endlessly, the light never dimmed.
“Try this, Master.”
“This taste is not bad either…”
“And this.”
What a good night!
An Lan peacefully enjoyed the small lobster that Bai Lian had peeled for her.
Half an hour later…
The plate was empty.
An Lan unconsciously licked the corner of her mouth.
No sooner had she done so than she froze in place.
“!”
Bad.
Bai Lian was sitting across from her.
But she had made such a foolish move, compromising her dignity!
She needed to make up for it.
An Lan’s heart rate quickened.
Before she could react, Bai Lian held out a handkerchief.
An Lan was about to push it away, but Bai Lian’s other hand gently held hers.
“Don’t move yet.”
“…”
Wipe.
An Lan realized that Bai Lian had gotten closer, bowing down to wipe her mouth.
She only needed to lower her head to glimpse whiteness, and a blue pendant dangling near her chest, the chill lingering there.
What’s going on?!
An Lan couldn’t quite understand how things had ended up like this.
Bai Lian kept wiping until there wasn’t a speck of dirt left on An Lan’s mouth before she returned to her seat.
Then, she used the clean part of the towel to wipe herself.
The wide, bright cave fell into silence.
Bai Lian and An Lan stared at each other, neither knowing what the other was thinking.
Bai Lian was at a loss for how to start the conversation.
She couldn’t keep dragging it out any longer.
She had always thought she knew her master well, but she didn’t realize that the master knew her so well.
Oh, Bai Lian!
[When she wiggled her butt, I knew exactly what she wanted!]
“Go ahead.”
An Lan placed both hands gently on the stone table.
She returned to calm.
Her slightly purple eyes carried a wisdom that seemed different from before.
I’ll tell you.
Bai Lian nodded. “Master, I have something to go out for a while…”
She explained the event that had just occurred and ended with, “I’ll be back soon.”
An Lan didn’t say a word.
When Bai Lian looked at her uneasily, she spoke in an emotionless tone, “Can I trust you?”
“?”
“Can you come back on time?”
“…”
Bai Lian couldn’t guarantee that.
