Chapter 1: The Netherworld Seal (1)
The last day of March.
A gentle spring rain poured down, the red, pink, and white petals carpeting the ground. Bai Lian stood silently beneath the eaves, her gaze fixed on the uneven scars on the wooden pillar.
Only two months had passed, and the fifth Martial Sister had already grown nearly half an inch!
At this rate, in just a couple of years, she’ll probably be as full of life and energy as she was in the game.
“At least they’ve grown well, and it seems I won’t be aging anytime soon.”
Bai Lian pinched her own cheeks.
Her skin had only become softer and fairer, with a radiant glow that made people almost want to take a bite.
The most striking feature remained the star-shaped mark beneath her right eye.
It had once been beautifully drawn by her master, a masterstroke that was admired at first but gradually lost its charm. After staring at it for too long, the once captivating image started to feel dull.
Because of this, people had once questioned whether Bai Lian was just showing off.
“If it weren’t for this mark, I’d take off my own head and serve it to you all in a cup!”
“I’m not that mean, but I’d dare bite myself!”
But even though people mocked her, no one had the courage to grab a cloth and wipe it off.
That was before things changed.
Since she obtained the Yaoguang Special Effect.
Since acquiring the Qianhuan Real Eyes.
Since stepping into the Transcendency Stage so smoothly.
No one dared look into Bai Lian’s eyes for long anymore.
The starlight in her eyes shimmered as if alive, a black hole that could swallow every emotion.
Once drawn into that “black hole,” it didn’t take long for one to become completely free from worldly desires!
Of course…
This “sage mode” didn’t last forever.
Bai Lian hadn’t yet reached the point where she could make people submit with just her aura, without lifting a finger.
But even at this level, no one dared to doubt that the ★ in her eyes was a symbol of the Saints.
“Let’s go get something to eat.”
Since she had some time to spare, Bai Lian decided to reward the Martial Sisters who had worked hard with the jade rabbit, training tirelessly until they were drenched in sweat.
Her hands and feet moved nimbly, and after entrusting an assistant to help, it only took her half an hour to prepare a lavish meal.
Afterward…
Bai Lian ended the sparring between her Martial Sisters and Tong Yao.
Then, she went to her master’s cave once again.
The spring tide had long since passed.
Yet the master’s cave still felt damp and cold.
Bai Lian had grown accustomed to it.
“Would you like to join me for dinner?”
When An Lan heard this, she immediately shook her head.
“No, I won’t go to places with too many people.”
She’d rather use this free time to read a few books to cheer her up.
No matter how much Bai Lian pleaded, An Lan was firm this time. She wouldn’t give in.
“Well, then,” Bai Lian sighed, feeling a little helpless.
She couldn’t force her master to come with her.
In the end, it was clear she couldn’t win against her master.
Even if she knew her master’s vulnerabilities, she couldn’t force her way in.
Bai Lian walked out of the cave.
Standing in the open space of the bamboo forest, listening to the rustle of wind passing through the bamboo, she felt as though time was standing still beside her.
It was the same old master.
And she was the same too.
“Not everyone needs to change. Just being able to peacefully accompany my master, even if it means living a simple and poor life, is enough.”
Happy.
Bai Lian watched the bamboo leaves swaying in the wind.
For a moment…
The wind snapped the petiole.
The delicate bamboo leaf danced in the wind, finally drifting down into her hands.
…
Bai Lian slowly lifted her head.
The gust of wind rose with her as she stood there.
In a flash, more bamboo leaves flew from the green bamboo, soaring toward the azure sky.
Her hair, earrings, skirt, emotions, and aspirations for the future all swirled together…
“The wind is quite strong today.”
Let’s go.
Before the wind picked up, Bai Lian made her way back to the courtyard.
It was a lunch filled with a harmonious atmosphere.
Everyone was entranced by Elder Martial Sister Bai Lian’s cooking skills, leaving no time to think about anything else.
Bai Lian rested her cheek in her hand, gazing softly at the scene.
Comics were not lying.
The charm of food really could make one’s face flush, just as thrilling as drinking a magic potion!
She smiled. “You’ve all been working hard for the past half month. Take the rest of the day off and relax.”
“Yes.”
Xiao Jinse patted her round, plump belly, lazily responding.
This was the result of Elder Martial Sister Bai Lian’s hard work!
Spring planting, autumn harvest.
Elder Martial Sister, we won’t disappoint you!
After leaving the banquet, Bai Lian retreated to her room to focus on her writing.
She had initially planned to finish writing “Green Emperor’s Legend” before the end of spring.
But due to various distractions, she’d only completed about two-thirds of it.
This wasn’t really Bai Lian making excuses.
It was Yue Wuyang’s fault!
That woman had suddenly appeared and tasked Bai Lian with seeking out the ancient relics of the East Divine Land, buried deep in history.
Though Bai Lian hadn’t wanted to get tangled up with Yue Wuyang, she reluctantly agreed to avoid further trouble.
“I’ll do it! I’ll do it!”
Bai Lian explored the ancient sites and sent all the locations mentioned in the “mythical” stories to Yue Wuyang.
Like some authors, she sneaked in “personal items” into her writings.
In the later stages of The Battle of the Gods, there was a place called “Langya Sky.”
That place was home to all sorts of monsters and demons.
According to the records, they were evils that had been exiled since ancient times.
In the game, if “Elder Martial Sister Bai Lian” didn’t figure out how to lower the danger level of [Langya Sky] below a certain point, the East Divine Land would be destroyed once the Suppression Seal was broken.
This was the fourth existential crisis the Duxian sect faced!
Even the fairy with great treasures wouldn’t escape death in this disaster. Only An Lan could survive. The others had no chance.
Bai Lian quickly passed the responsibility of Exorcising Demons onto Yue Wuyang.
This “Sister Yue” was from the Immortal World. Even if she couldn’t rid the area of evil spirits, she at least wouldn’t die there.
So…
Go ahead.
Sister Yue with the big breasts!
When you come back victorious, I’ll give you a victory banner.
“Is Langya Sky an ancient fairy’s place of confinement?”
When Yue Wuyang received the letter, she immediately took note of it.
Hmm.
She had to go find out.
During her months of investigation, Yue Wuyang discovered something shocking.
She traveled to Bai Lian to seek confirmation.
[The space in the East Divine Land feels wrong; it’s too stable. I struck with all my strength, but couldn’t cause any spatial disturbance. I even thought I had reached the edge of the Immortal World.]
Huh?
Bai Lian was stunned upon receiving the message.
She had never heard of this before, and it wasn’t mentioned in the game.
“Is Yue Wuyang testing me, or…?”
Suddenly, new task options appeared in front of her.
[Task 1: Reply directly, “Is that so?” (Reward: a High-grade Spirit Tool – Sun Jade Wand)]
[Task 2: Trick Yue Wuyang, “You noticed too?” (Reward: Hard Skill +1)]
There was no need to think further.
Task 2, chosen decisively.
As she replied to Yue Wuyang, Bai Lian couldn’t help but think of her master.
The master was a strong benchmark.
Though she might not be invincible in the East Divine Land, she would certainly be one of the strongest.
In “The Battle of the Gods,” the master had reached a state of extreme anger multiple times.
In that state, she had never shown power strong enough to break time and space, sink the East Divine Land, or shatter the galaxy.
Even the Immortal Heavenly Lord couldn’t destroy stars? Wasn’t that a bit too weak?
Looking back, the problem didn’t lie with An Lan, but with the space-time in which the East Divine Land was located.
[You noticed too?]
Bai Lian’s answer was simple.
But…
Yue Wuyang shook her head.
The Immortal Emperor was truly a force to be reckoned with!
It took Yue Wuyang months to realize something was wrong, but Bai Lian had noticed it long ago.
“Eh?”
Wait.
Yue Wuyang stopped in her tracks.
Is Bai Lian really here in East Divine Land by chance?
Knowing Bai Lian was an Immortal Emperor in her past life, it seemed impossible for her to have simply reincarnated here due to an accident…
“Bai Lian probably came to the East Divine Land intentionally, in search of something!”
Is it something else, or is her goal also An Lan?
If it’s the latter…
Yue Wuyang dared not think further.
She realized that she had likely been played by Bai Lian without even noticing it.
“Should I cut off contact with Bai Lian now?”
Yue Wuyang frowned.
She couldn’t.
She had seen what kind of “mean” person Bai Lian could be.
If Bai Lian really had her eyes on her, there would be no escape. Yue Wuyang could only continue pretending and submit to her.
Bai Lian, on the other hand, waited long but received no response from Yue Wuyang.
Just when she thought Yue Wuyang had lost interest in her, new news came.
[Sure enough, I wonder what leads White Emperor Bai Lian has?]
What do I have?
Bai Lian gave a half-hearted answer.
[I’m not sure yet, I need to verify a few more times.]
I knew you wouldn’t say it!
Yue Wuyang hastily ended the conversation.
She was too heartbroken to discuss it further.
An Lan was already hard to find, and now she had to face the dual threats from Bai Lian and her mortal enemy Jiang Jing; the road ahead was perilous.
“I hope I can make it back to the Immortal World safely.”
Sighing, Yue Wuyang crossed the boundless sea, heading for the ancient ruins that Bai Lian had mentioned.
Meanwhile…
After finishing her conversation with Yue Wuyang, Bai Lian finally found some time to herself.
She opened a fresh sheet of white paper and began writing the remaining chapters of “Green Emperor’s Legend.”
The warm sunshine filtered through the window, casting a soft glow on the desk.
The old bent neck of the pen emitted a faint scent.
The breeze gently rustled the paper with a pleasant sound.
Bai Lian smiled occasionally as she became lost in the turbulent world unfolding on the pages.
In the evening, she set the pen down, lifting the stack of written papers with her hands.
Okay.
Another short story done today!
“Huh?”
Suddenly, Bai Lian was taken aback.
Is she supposed to be writing the “Green Emperor’s Legend”?
“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean it. Xia Qingqing, don’t be angry!”
Bai Lian immediately took out new sheets of paper.
[It’s Spring Festival]
[Green Emperor took off her heavy burden. She wanted to start being herself again. This world is so big, so she wanted to have a look around first.]
…
