Chapter 2: An Lan’s Brilliant Plan (2)
The Tianji Sect.
The spring breeze was chilly.
The scent of blood wafting from the Valley Mouth made Xiao Jinse’s legs tremble slightly. She was afraid.
Despite her best efforts to mentally prepare herself, the grim scene before her was enough to unnerve anyone. The once mighty Tianji Sect had fallen. Could Elder Martial Sister Bai Lian really be alright?
Xiao Jinse’s gaze landed on a bloodied face, lifeless and haunting.
She immediately shook her head vigorously.
Impossible!
Her mind rebelled against the thought. My Elder Martial Sister Bai Lian is unbeatable. Only she has the power to defeat others. Who could be strong enough to kill her?
Her grip on the Blowing Snow Sword tightened, the cold steel offering some reassurance.
As the second in command of the Qiongming Peak, with Bai Lian absent, she had no choice but to lead the charge. She had a responsibility to uphold, a reputation to honor. Even if the sky were to fall, she would stand tall.
There was no use in being afraid now.
Charge forward for Elder Martial Sister Bai Lian!
Xiao Jinse gritted her teeth, holding her sword high. Though fear lingered in her heart, there wasn’t a hint of panic on her face.
From behind, Yu Ying even mistook her for Elder Martial Sister Bai Lian, standing so resolute.
But if Bai Lian were here, she would have noticed something different. There was an unmistakable trace of the Holy Spirit Goddess upon the Second Martial Sister.
This was far ahead of the events in the game storyline.
At this moment in The Battle of the Gods, Xiao Jinse’s performance was nothing but average. But if one were to look closer, they’d understand it wasn’t her fault. Her starting point had been lower than most, forcing her to spend far more time building her foundation.
On top of that, she had the added challenge of dealing with the “threat” posed by Elder Martial Sister Bai Lian herself.
Even though Xiao Jinse had been exhausted, in the game, she still managed to keep her cultivation close to the average level of other disciples.
Now, Xiao Jinse hadn’t yet faced the same hardships she encountered in the game, but her disposition was no worse than her in-game counterpart. The last two years had shaped her. She regarded Bai Lian as her life’s goal.
But now, as that goal was on the brink of being destroyed, could she pull back?
She saw Qiongming Peak as her new home, and she would protect this family without hesitation.
Let’s rush together!
Xiao Jinse’s voice rang with determination.
She took the lead, charging forward into the depths of the Tianji sect. But after only a few steps, she stopped.
Someone was ahead.
What are you rushing for? Are you stupid? Hurry up and come back with me!
“Master?!”
Xiao Jinse’s eyes widened in surprise.
Suddenly, the cold-faced An Lan appeared in front of her.
Da da da…
An Lan quickly walked up to Xiao Jinse, her scolding sharp and unrelenting.
“Do you even have a brain? How do you plan on dealing with the enemies who destroyed the Tianji sect? You’re not here to save anyone, you’re here to throw away your life!”
“Master, I…”
Xiao Jinse’s eyes filled with tears.
“What? You couldn’t even inform anyone before you left? If you couldn’t get in touch with me, you should have spoken to the sect leader. This is infuriating. Don’t just copy Bai Lian’s reckless behavior!”
An Lan sighed, her voice softening.
“Forget it. Let’s not waste time on these pointless things. Come back with me now.”
Unexpectedly, Xiao Jinse shook her head.
“Master, we have to rescue Elder Martial Sister Bai Lian!”
We won’t return until we save Elder Martial Sister!
Her gaze was unwavering. No one could change her mind.
An Lan raised her voice again. “Save? Bai Lian has already returned to the Qiongming Peak!”
A moment of silence.
Xiao Jinse quickly grabbed An Lan’s sleeve.
“Master, let’s go back now!”
“Follow me.”
An Lan waved her hand, pulling the four clumsy disciples and the jade rabbit into the space of her sleeve. In an instant, she traversed the space and returned to the Qiongming Peak.
“Did you face any danger this time? No, because Bai Lian took the misfortune for you. If you act recklessly next time, don’t expect anyone to save you!”
“Yes, Master,” Xiao Jinse bowed her head, regret filling her heart.
Her master’s tone had been stern, but it was all for their own good.
As they parted, An Lan added, “Don’t dwell on this today. After all, it’s the last day of the year. Let’s have some fun.”
Deeply moved, Xiao Jinse immediately suggested, “Master, let’s visit the Lantern Festival together. I’ll invite Elder Martial Sister Bai Lian as well.”
An Lan, “reluctantly,” agreed, “Only this time!”
Xiao Jinse nodded firmly.
As their bond with Elder Martial Sister Bai Lian grew stronger, she knew she would need to respect and show filial piety to her master.
