Chapter 11: Spring Rain Is Enough to Dye a Stream With New Green (3)
She lifted her hand to touch her face but quickly lowered it when she saw it was covered with mud.
“The Second Elder Martial Sister!”
She gave Xiao Jinse a pat on the shoulder, then spoke gravely:
“How could you be so careless? It’s raining so heavily, and you had something in your hands. I was there to cushion you this time. What would have happened if you hurt yourself?”
“Ah…”
Xiao Jinse stood there, completely dumbfounded. How did the situation turn out so differently from what she had imagined?
As Bai Lian stepped into the rain curtain, she too was stunned. The sight of the third Martial Sister with “concern” etched on her
face seemed unreal.
When the second and third Martial Sisters fought in the game, it had been fierce. They didn’t just defeat each other — the
destruction was complete. At one point, even a Soul Binding Magic Tool had been used to imprison the second Martial Sister’s
soul and make her a toy for Su Youwei.
“Could this be a parallel world where the second and third Martial Sisters are in love?”
Bai Lian quickly relaxed. No matter the reason, it was a good thing that the second and third Martial Sisters hadn’t fought due to
an accident.
At that moment, Su Youwei waved her hands in front of Xiao Jinse.
“Second Elder Martial Sister? Are you okay? You didn’t get hurt, did you?”
Xiao Jinse quickly snapped out of her thoughts. She shook her head and reassured, “No, no. Even if I fell from the Qiongming
Peak, I wouldn’t be hurt with my current cultivation base.”
“That’s good.”
Su Youwei seemed more relaxed now, probably due to Bai Lian’s presence.
“Second Elder Martial Sister, go change your clothes. Don’t be so careless next time. If you need to pour the water, let me do it!”
Xiao Jinse lowered her head, murmuring, “This was an accident. It won’t happen again next time.”
Seeing that the two Martial Sisters were still standing in the rain, Bai Lian immediately stepped forward.
“Stop chatting, go back to your rooms now. Remember, be at my room at exactly 8 o’clock for class.”
“Hmm.”
Xiao Jinse nodded shyly.
“Class?”
Su Youwei didn’t understand.
Bai Lian explained, and Su Youwei, already in a good mood, became even happier.
Today, she had mastered a new sword move. Elder Martial Sister Bai Lian’s nighttime classes had resumed, and she had even
been drenched by Bai Lian’s foot wash water.
“I hope the good luck continues to the grand competition.”
Su Hong Yi, inside the Ten Thousand Poison Pearl, awkwardly agreed with Su Youwei’s words. After she mischievously held Bai
Lian’s hand, she was too embarrassed to continue speaking loudly to Su Youwei.
After saying goodbye to Bai Lian, Su Youwei quickly returned to her room. She hummed a merry tune and used magic to clean
the mud and water stains off her body.
As her voice faded, something seemed to click in her mind.
“Wait!”
She had missed something. The second Martial Sister was carrying a basin of water for Bai Lian’s foot washing — did that mean
she had done something in Bai Lian’s room just now?
[Hey, Elder Martial Sister!]
[Oh, Martial Sister~]
In her mind, Su Youwei saw images of Bai Lian barefoot, which then quickly morphed into her own training with Hong Yi at the
half-hill.
“…”
What the heck!
Fuming, Su Youwei rose up angrily, her face turning ugly, as if she had swallowed a fly.
The Second Elder Martial Sister?
She’s just a piece of trash!
“You villain, full of bad intentions!”
I should’ve punched you right in the chest to erase that unforgivable evil!
Wrong.
She couldn’t fight, especially not with Elder Martial Sister Bai Lian nearby. Doing so would leave a bad impression on Bai Lian.
This feeling of not being able to have what she wanted was making Su Youwei feel sick.
She gritted her teeth and muttered, “Xiao Jinse, you truly are my lifelong adversary.”
For now, the only way she could regain her peace of mind was by catching a glimpse of Bai Lian’s Tao Halo during night classes.
In the courtyard at the top of the hill, Bai Lian held an umbrella and a pair of clogs in her hands.
Both the second and third Martial Sisters had gotten drenched, so now she had to notify the other Martial Sisters herself. She bent
down and placed the wooden clogs on the ground before sliding each foot into them.
It was fine to walk barefoot on a wooden floor, but not on a mountain road full of gravel.
Bai Lian wasn’t accustomed to wearing clogs. They felt too hard, and the pressure between her toes made her uncomfortable.
As she tried to adjust, her big toe couldn’t help but curl up as it slid into the shoe.
“No way.”
After all, it was raining outside. Wooden clogs were often used as rain shoes, but Bai Lian had to make do without her spirit Qi for
now. She had to live like an ordinary person.
Once she regained her cultivation base, she’d make some low-level magic tools to improve her life.
Overall, Bai Lian’s mood wasn’t bad. As she glanced at her feet, a poem that seemed just right for the moment popped into her
head:
“Wearing a pair of golden teeth shoes, both feet are as white as frost.”
Hmm.
That phrase, “Put on your shoes as if on frosty ground, not wearing a crow’s-feather sock,” works too.
“I am worthy of it!”
With that, Bai Lian set off.
With her umbrella in hand, she stepped into the rainy world once again, not in a hurry. She decided to take a leisurely walk and
enjoy the scenery.
At 17:45, after a few turns, Bai Lian found herself at the forbidden area. She hesitated. Teaching classes at night was for the
Martial Sisters, and notifying her master probably wouldn’t be necessary.
Her Tao Halo looked impressive, but it wouldn’t be useful for the master.
“Forget it.”
She decided to turn around and leave, but just as she did, An Lan’s voice echoed in her mind.
“What do you want from me?”
“I…”
“If you have something to say, just write it in the Jade Message Slip. The way you’re going now, it’ll take half an hour — what a
waste of time!”
“Yes.”
Bai Lian’s heart warmed. She knew her master cared for her, especially since she was still recovering from her injury.
Once called out, Bai Lian couldn’t hide her intentions anymore.
“Master, I…”
When she entered the cave, Bai Lian roughly described the situation.
“Oh.”
The master, sitting cross-legged on the bed, didn’t even blink.
“That thing of yours is no use to me.”
Bai Lian nodded; she already knew. She said her goodbyes to An Lan.
It was getting late, and if she didn’t hurry, she’d miss the class.
An Lan didn’t let her leave immediately.
“Take it.”
A silver bottle flew toward her in the bright candlelight.
“Medicine?”
An Lan spoke calmly, “It can relieve fatigue when applied to the feet and promote spirit Qi flow.”
Bai Lian nodded.
“Do it yourself. If you can’t, come to me again.”
Bai Lian smiled gracefully, “Master, I’d rather let you do it. I’m afraid my technique might ruin your good intentions.”
And just like that, Bai Lian was on the receiving end of a straight ball impact, knocking An Lan out.
After a few more exchanges, An Lan finally relented.
“Reach out!”
After dozens of repetitions, An Lan “let go” of Bai Lian, her face taut, and her tone suddenly sharp.
“Since you’re guiding your Martial Sisters for the Grand Competition, I’ll accompany you up the mountain to see you off.”
“Mm-hmm.”
“Next time, if you wander around aimlessly, crawl back up yourself. I won’t bother with you!”
Bai Lian, still nodding outwardly, internally thought, “I’m not buying it.”
With the help of her master, Bai Lian quickly returned to her room.
“I’m leaving.”
An Lan pushed the door open. In the blink of an eye, her small figure disappeared into the rain-filled night.
But she hadn’t really left. She drifted to the crooked neck tree next to Bai Lian’s room — her favorite spot for listening in.
An Lan had secretly been watching Bai Lian.
“Actually…”
Her Tao Halo still had its uses.
It was a path to the Great Tao she had never encountered before. If she could incorporate it, her strength would surpass what she
had been before.
But the problem was, Bai Lian’s path was far too deep!
After exploring for a while, An Lan still couldn’t find her way in.
She couldn’t help it. She kept watching.
A while later, Elder Martial Sister Bai Lian’s night classes officially resumed. In a harmonious atmosphere, the night before the
grand competition arrived.
