Chapter 12: If I Were Green Emperor (1)
The word “Xu” in “Qingxu” carries multiple meanings.
When combined with “Qing,” it refers to a “Big Hill.” In layman’s terms, “Qingxu” means [Green Emperor’s Moving Island].
Unfortunately, the story that unfolded on this moving island was neither romantic nor warm.
Beneath layers of mist, bloodshed and slaughter reigned supreme. Cultivators entered and exited with either excitement or apprehension. Some hoped to bring back treasures, yet most left with nothing but wounds and regret.
However, greed is deeply ingrained in human nature.
The looming danger did not deter them—instead, it only spurred them to fight even harder. The countless corpses before them did nothing to dampen their ambitions. Successors continued to rush into the cave recklessly because…
That was the resting place of a mighty one, a figure who had ended an era of darkness. Perhaps, it was also the place where she took her first steps toward the Immortal Emperor’s Throne.
Countless people believed that as long as they persevered, braved the trials, and endured the pain, they would eventually emerge into the light—a miraculous rebirth awaited them at the end of the road.
They often repeated a single phrase:
“If the Green Emperor, a powerless young girl, could rise within ten years to become the world-renowned Green Emperor, then surely we, already at the Soul Changing Stage, can reach immortality if we find Ruomu!”
To this, Bai Lian could only shake her head and sigh.
“You’re all overthinking it.”
To unlock all CGs, Bai Lian had once grinded for months in The Battle of the Gods.
Qingxu was a crucial location for gathering materials in the game. She had explored every corner of it—inside, outside, and even those hidden secret places.
Yet, she had never found a single trace of Ruomu.
Not once.
Not even a rumor of any NPC having discovered something special in Qingxu.
Most likely, Qingxu was nothing more than a temporary resting place for the Green Emperor during her vacation in the South Sea. It might not even be related to her at all.
“Even if I say it, no one will believe me.”
Bai Lian shook her head slightly. After half a day of flight, she finally arrived near Qingxu and stopped the Cloud Chasing Boat.
A golden light shimmered across the sea’s surface.
Beneath the waves, a massive shadow caught Bai Lian’s attention.
That silhouette… looked oddly familiar.
Just as she was pondering this, the sea suddenly rose.
Clatter—
A massive wave surged forth, churning up countless white pearls. The once-tranquil sea instantly came to life.
The salty scent of the tides filled the air, completely awakening Xia Qingqing, who had been feeling slightly dizzy.
Her eyes widened.
In that moment, she saw—
Every droplet of water, illuminated by the sunlight, reflected her image.
This breathtaking scene burned itself into her mind.
She was mesmerized.
Each drop of water was like a mirror, and the reflections within told countless stories. They might not have been grand epics—perhaps just ordinary conversations, silent walks, or fleeting moments. Yet, they were all unique.
Bang. Bang.
Xia Qingqing took a deep breath.
She trembled but was too overwhelmed to care.
Her heartbeat quickened.
It felt as though she were listening to a symphony.
At first, it whispered. Then, it became a sudden downpour.
In the end, it was like a chaotic bombardment.
Under this overwhelming sensation, Xia Qingqing felt utterly shattered.
Her breath turned ragged, her face flushed red, her limbs grew weak, and her body burned with heat.
If she hadn’t clenched her teeth, she might have let out strange murmurs.
“What… what’s happening to me?”
Her vision blurred. Through the watery haze, she vaguely saw—
A massive turtle head emerging from the waves.
And Bai Lian, standing before it, conversing cheerfully.
Laughter filled the air.
The atmosphere was lighthearted and joyful.
Xia Qingqing shook her head, trying to steady herself.
The last time she had felt this way was when she was very young.
She had always been mischievous as a child.
Once, she had fallen into a pool. Though she had managed to crawl out on her own, she still developed a fever afterward.
Her parents were preoccupied with sect matters. Her Martial Brothers and Sisters were focused on their cultivation. She had been left alone, curled up beneath a blanket, suffering.
Breathing had been difficult.
She had felt as though her body were melting into the bed.
[How did I recover back then?]
No matter how hard she tried, she couldn’t remember.
Until—
A single droplet of water landed on her forehead.
Through that drop, she saw someone lightly pressing their palm against her skin.
A warm current flowed through her body.
A faint tremor ran through her, and the fever was gone in an instant.
[That person…]
Xia Qingqing’s eyes widened in realization.
Despite the fog clouding her vision, making it impossible to see clearly—
She had a feeling.
That person…
It was Bai Lian.
Her right leg suddenly gave out, and she collapsed forward—
Straight into Bai Lian’s arms.
“Martial Sister Xia!”
A startled cry rang in her ears.
Not Long Ago
After seeing the ripped-apart sea surface and inhaling the salty ocean air, Bai Lian understood instantly.
No wonder it felt so familiar.
Wasn’t this the same turtle that had helped her and Xuezhan before?
Yes.
As the overlord of the sea, it was natural for the turtle to investigate Qingxu’s sudden emergence.
Bai Lian immediately greeted it: “Master Turtle, long time no see.”
The turtle responded with evident joy.
However, it was puzzled—
Why was Bai Lian so interested in Qingxu?
The legend of the Green Emperor and Ruomu was certainly fascinating. But to Bai Lian, who had once been an Immortal Emperor, such things were nothing special.
“I’m not here for myself,” Bai Lian explained.
If there had been no external interference, she would have been playing with her Martial Sisters at Qiongming Peak right now.
In just two months, the New Disciples’ Grand Competition would begin.
To her, this event mattered more than breaking through in cultivation.
Why?
Because she was terrified.
She had spoiled the protagonists too much, turning them into helpless children who only cried:
“Elder Martial Sister, I’m hungry! Food!”
She desperately hoped this competition would ignite their fighting spirit again.
“Master Turtle, are you interested in exploring Qingxu?” Bai Lian asked. “To be honest, I doubt there’s anything useful for you there.”
The turtle nodded.
It had no need for Qingxu.
It was here simply to reminisce—to see the place where the Green Emperor had ascended to the Immortal World.
Just as Bai Lian was about to respond—
Dong.
Suddenly, she felt something round strike her back.
