Chapter 15: Spiral Ascension
Abruptly, two tiger demons emerged. They were aggressive and powerful. To put it another way, they were hideous! Compared with Bai Lian, they looked like random NPC monsters.
One of the tiger demons suddenly jumped onto the rock in front of her and shouted, “Ignorant human! How dare you trespass into the territory of the two-headed dragon boss!?”
The other tiger demon held his hand to his chest and said, “You don’t know how powerful we are. I don’t think you have paid any attention to us.”
Bai Lian’s heart felt slightly nervous. If her estimation was correct, the two tiger demons in front of her had reached the Golden Core Stage. Either one of them was stronger than her.
Although this place was far away from the Qiongming Peak, it was still under the jurisdiction of the Duxian Sect. How could there be two unregistered tiger demons here? There was something suspicious about this!
Bai Lian didn’t have time to investigate. If there were only one tiger demon, she could deal with it using her speed. Once she reached the Qiongming Peak, even if her reputation was ruined, at least she could survive. But there were two tiger demons in front of her.
Run? This option did not exist.
Bai Lian was worried, but her face remained calm. After all, pretending to be a natural saint was her day job.
Bai Lian declared, “I am a disciple of the Duxian Sect. How dare you threaten me in my territory?”
“The Duxian Sect? So what?” one tiger demon puffed up his copper bell-like eyes. “Since you dare to trespass into the territory of the two-headed dragon boss, you are ready to die!”
Bai Lian snorted coldly. She knew she couldn’t appear flustered; otherwise, the other party would attack without hesitation.
To her surprise, the two tiger demons didn’t rush forward immediately. They seemed to be worried about something.
The two tiger heads came together, whispering inaudibly.
Tiger A: “You attack from the front; I will ambush her from behind.”
Tiger B: “You are faster than me. It’s better for you to go to the front.”
Tiger A: “Being fast won’t help. Your defense is stronger than mine. You should go ahead.”
Tiger B: “Why don’t we go together?”
Tiger A: “Let’s go together.”
The two tigers looked at each other, then spread out, advancing towards Bai Lian from the left and right.
Finished.
Bai Lian clenched her right fist. How could the system fail at such a critical moment?
No, no!
She felt her heart racing with urgency. Was she going to be killed after being selected as a villain by the system? Obviously, she hadn’t done anything bad.
System, hurry and pop out!
Even if she was going to die, she wanted to be killed by relevant characters in the game. Being killed by two demon NPCs would be embarrassing!
Bai Lian stood like an ice sculpture. Her eyes were calm, and the star in the corner of her eye emitted a mysterious light.
Alas, Bai Lian sighed.
The time had come.
She began to think about how to make her death more dignified.
However, this strange move scared the two tiger demons. They stopped and looked at each other, hesitation in their eyes.
After all, they were about to fight Bai Lian, the Natural Saint of the Duxian Sect!
On the surface, she had only reached the late Foundation Establishment Stage. However, according to inside information, Bai Lian had already reached the Golden Core Stage. There were even rumors that she had broken through to the Nascent Soul Stage. If not for the power bestowed by the two-headed dragon boss, they wouldn’t have dared to take on this task at all.
After a moment of hesitation, the two tiger demons continued to advance.
Bai Lian was terrible, but the two-headed dragon boss was even worse.
Bai Lian’s eyes drifted until the little rabbit in her arms arched twice, successfully attracting her attention.
Rabbit ~
Yes!
Bai Lian’s eyes gradually brightened.
The identity of this rabbit wasn’t simple. If she could make good use of it, she might still have a chance to get out of trouble.
Her eyes wandered between Task 1 and Task 2.
She could get the Jade Emperor Seal by selecting Task 1, but it required time to study before she could use it. Obviously, the tiger demons wouldn’t give her that time.
Then she could only choose Task 2: let the little rabbit attract one opponent’s attention, giving her a low probability of successfully escaping.
Bai Lian decided to choose Task 2.
She lowered her head and said to the little rabbit, “Do you know you are wrong?”
The rabbit, with watery eyes, nodded hurriedly.
Although it was only a little rabbit, it knew it couldn’t provoke the human in front of it—a Natural Saint, a Nascent Soul Stage cultivator, and the disciple of a wicked woman.
Any one of Bai Lian’s identities was terrifying.
“It’s not a small debt to steal so many spiritual plants,” Bai Lian said, lifting it up. “All your debts should be paid with your body!”
[Task completed, task reward: Tai Xuan Zhen Yuan Pill]
The little rabbit looked up, startled.
Paid with my body? Am I going to be eaten?
No!
The little rabbit chirped. If Bai Lian hadn’t tied it up, it might have lifted its paws to resist.
Bai Lian calmly pointed to one tiger demon. “See?”
The little rabbit nodded.
“One of them is yours.”
“Eh?”
The little rabbit was stunned. Oh, so it won’t be eaten. That’s fine.
Bai Lian continued, “If you can stop it, I’ll forgive half your debt.”
The rabbit’s eyes bulged.
It understood. Bai Lian was ready to forgive; otherwise, she wouldn’t give such a simple task.
The little rabbit calculated silently. If one tiger equals half the debt, then two tigers equal all the debt!
“I’ll untie you first. Don’t try to escape.”
“Haw.”
The little rabbit shook its head.
When Bai Lian loosened its ears and tail, it shook itself and dispersed the water ring binding it.
You can break away from the water ring by yourself?
Bai Lian was stunned.
The rabbit was much more powerful than she had imagined. That meant she had a greater chance of escaping.
“Good, let’s go,” Bai Lian said.
The little rabbit hopped forward a few steps.
The two tiger demons overheard their conversation and were enraged.
They were already weaker than Bai Lian, but now she was letting a captive demon beast fight them? This wasn’t disregard—it was pure contempt.
“How dare you humiliate us like this!”
The “king” characters on their foreheads glowed with blood as killing intent enveloped Bai Lian.
“Oh no!”
Bai Lian felt bad. Her scheme had been seen through.
It seemed she had to run now!
Bai Lian shouted, “You first!”
Before she could react, an evil wind blew in front of her, disrupting her rhythm.
The weak rabbit’s body suddenly expanded like a balloon. Powerful winds swirled around it, creating a gray storm that shrouded the hills.
Bai Lian could only see gray, temporarily losing her sense of direction.
Moments later, the storm filled with killing intent crashed into the tiger demons.
Fatality!
It was too fast.
One tiger demon, in horror, felt his power suppressed by the rabbit’s bloodline.
Inside the storm, the tiger demons were torn apart by knife-like winds.
One of them, before dying, sacrificed his soul to send a drop of blood carrying a message into the distance:
[Bai Lian has reached the Nascent Soul Stage!]
The storm subsided.
Bai Lian looked at the deep ditch it had carved across the land, tens of miles long.
Now she understood why punching the rabbit would reward her with a top-grade magical tool.
This system was so vicious!
“Haw!”
The little rabbit hopped over to her, asking for credit.
“Well done.” Bai Lian coughed. “You don’t owe me anything now. You can go.”
But the rabbit didn’t leave. It wobbled and fell to the ground with a plop.
“Hey, are you alright?”
Bai Lian squatted down to check.
The little rabbit scratched a word in the dirt with its ear: “Hungry.”
“…Alright. You can eat as much as you like.”
Picking up the rabbit, Bai Lian headed toward the medicine garden.
