Chapter 621: Don’t Worry, We’re on the Same Team!

"Bai Wei, are you able to sleep?"

"I can’t fall asleep."

"Please untie me, the ropes are too tight, I can’t sleep."

"I need to go to the bathroom, please untie me."

"You are so cold-hearted, even your intestines are cold!"

"How dare you, am I not cool enough? Why am I not cool enough, tell me where I’m lacking in coolness!"

"You’ve shattered my self-esteem! How will I ever get married in the future, I will have psychological scars for the rest of my life!"

"How dare you ignore me completely! I will recite prayers in your ear all night long!"

"Wake up quickly, don’t fall asleep. How can you really sleep? It’s so disrespectful. Sob, sob, sob…"

"I will remember this grudge. I will settle the score with you when I regain my true form in the future."

"Zzzzz…"

Xue Hanlei finally fell silent.

Bai Wei opened his eyes, hands behind his head, and softly said. When you regain your true form, as long as you can beat me, I will accompany you at any time.

After a while, Xue Hanlei’s mouth curved up and she said. I remember.

…

Military base, morning.

Lu Yunchuan arrived at the canteen, serving food like the other soldiers. The aunties and uncles in the canteen here don’t shake hands when serving, and they serve a generous portion with each spoonful.

He was just sitting down with his breakfast when a person arrived at the opposite seat.

"Hey, isn’t this General Lu? Hello there," Xia Longque blinked. What a coincidence to meet here, such a pleasant surprise.

Heroic spirits usually stay within their own territories, but they also have the freedom to move around in the Ming Country, unless there are special circumstances. Their authority to act on their own is high, so they can’t wander around casually with their military ranks.

Despite this, heroic spirits don’t often meet each other, not because they are avoiding each other, but because being fellow heroic spirits, there is a tendency for competitiveness unless they are truly comrades in life and death. They would rather not meet than risk getting into a fight, as they both believe they are stronger than the other. They can’t just fight each other, so it’s better to not meet and remain friendly, otherwise, just a few words can turn into a duel in the martial arts arena.

"Major General Xia, hello, what a coincidence to meet you here," Lu Yunchuan’s heart skipped a beat, but he maintained his composure well. He immediately realized why she had come. Xia Longque was a key figure in the Eastern Front and an indispensable sharp weapon. In times of peace, she might not be needed, but she wouldn’t easily leave. She was meant to deter the Sea Dragon Clans.

If they can leave the frontlines, it means that Jinling City has no intention of releasing anyone.

This is troublesome. Initially, they could have taken the boy to Yan City for questioning, but now it seems to have turned into a multi-party competition. I’m at a disadvantage here.

Lu Yunchuan has had some differences with Bai Wei, almost coming to blows. In comparison, Xia Longque has never resorted to violence, with a good attitude and good looks, which are inherent advantages for women. They have a stronger affinity towards the opposite sex, which I envy.

"I’m here to gather information," Xia Longque said. There’s a talented boy who escaped to Jinling City. I need to bring him back for proper guidance and discipline. Have you seen him, General Lu?

"If I see anything, I will help," Lu Yunchuan made a promise he might not keep, "But I have other things to do, I won’t stay long, maybe I can’t help you much."

He immediately said goodbye and left, only eating a few bites of breakfast, rushing to Huaishui to deploy, hoping to arrive before other heroic spirits.

He and Xia Longque were definitely the quickest to react now, the other three battle zones were too far away to move easily.

Xia Longque ate breakfast and drank milk calmly.

"In a hurry, it seems like we missed the chance, next we have to go to Huaishui."

"This is still within the scope of the Eastern battle zone… But Huaishui originates in Hubei, belonging to the Central battle zone, the Huibei generation is too close to the Center, as the Eastern influence is weaker this generation, there isn’t much power to call upon."

There aren’t many stationed near Huaishui, it’s unavoidable, the occasional overflowing rivers are not suitable for too many stations, and most of the Eastern battle zone forces are concentrated in the provinces near the sea.

After finishing breakfast, Xia Longque learned that Lu Yunchuan had left early for deployment, she wasn’t worried, planning to wait for General Land to go to Huaishui to investigate, while she stayed behind to tie up loose ends.

They hadn’t found their trail along the way, after leaving Chao Lake, they seemed to disappear without a trace, finding them wouldn’t be easy.

Tracking is not her strong suit, she stumbled upon it by luck.

She had just left the military area and was considering seeking some help, when suddenly she heard a loud horn blaring through the street.

What’s going on?

Xia Longque quickly passed by, sprinting down the street. The fallen leaves on the ground rustled loudly as she passed.

She followed the police car and arrived at the scene in just fifteen minutes.

By listening to the police and passersby, she learned that this was a case of a person being stabbed with a sword.

The assailant had trained in martial arts for many years, due to his gambling addiction and failed business which led to his family leaving him. Seeking revenge, he targeted his ‘enemy’ who was going to the bank to withdraw money, planning to kill and rob him. However, his target recognized him and a confrontation broke out on the street, with the assailant bringing in some helpers and skilled fighters to assist him.

The fight spilled into the bank entrance and even inside.

Two of the helpers were also desperate individuals and decided to rob the bank then and there.

This place is a bit far from big cities, so even the banks here are privately-owned. Surprisingly, there was a robbery here.

The situation was supposed to be over by now, but one of the criminals noticed a rich-looking person holding a credit card that was black and red with a gold border. He demanded it immediately.

"All taken care of?"

"Yes."

"Some got hurt badly, some even lost limbs. They were ruthless, but they brought it upon themselves for messing with skilled fighters."

"But who would have thought there was a skilled fighter of such high rank hidden in this place?"

It seemed like everything had already ended… with no chance to appear, Xia Longque was about to leave. But in that moment, a faint buzzing noise came from her waist.

"What?" Xia Longque quickly gripped her sword and listened carefully to the message it conveyed. "Are you sure?"

Buzz… the response was clear. Xia Longque immediately looked towards the center of the area, moving through the crowd. "Please make way."

A police officer came to advise, "There is an investigation ahead, please don’t enter, please cooperate."

Xia Longque opened her ID, the police officer took it, looked carefully, then his hand trembled, "Summer…"

"Shh." Xia Longque winked at the female officer, placed a finger on her lips, "Keep it secret, okay."

"Yes, yes…" The female officer blushed, too excited to control herself, feeling like she was about to float to the sky.

Xia Longque approached, wearing brown glasses, she disguised herself simply, deliberately lowering her presence. Not many people would notice her, but she could observe the situation closely. Her gaze locked onto a sword, stuck in the center of the ground, a straight-edged blade with a tiger-shaped hilt.

Several people tried to pull it out, but it wouldn’t budge, until a young man stepped forward, his finger passed through the ring, and he lifted it with just one finger. He then played with the sword on his fingertip, explaining something to the nearby police officer, looking helpless.

"You should at least go give a statement, it’s not a bad thing."

"I told you I don’t want to go, I just did what’s right."

"Bro, there’s a reward."

"Look at this black card, do you think I need money?"

The young man didn’t want to waste time, so he briefly talked to the police with an unwilling expression on his face.

"Let me handle this." Xia Longque took the initiative, took off her sunglasses, and removed a layer of mysterious disguise.

After revealing her face, she quickly settled the matter that had been discussed for over ten minutes, then said to the young man, "Let’s go."

The young man stood frozen in place, seemingly contemplating something.

"If you think you can run away," Xia Longque placed her hand on her big belt, "you can give it a try."

Bai Wei sighed, followed Xia Longque, accidentally stepping on the robber’s right leg as they passed by the police, causing blood to splatter several meters away.

The screams were heard, but not worthy of sympathy.

Acting out of character, Xia Longque didn’t hurry to take Bai Wei back to Jinling City as initially planned. Instead, she took them to a Western-style drink shop, went upstairs, ordered three drinks and desserts.

After sitting down, Xue Hanlei felt a bit nervous. She really didn’t want to confront the heroic spirit, who were usually stubborn and didn’t prioritize their personal preferences. Getting caught by them could lead to trouble.

Xia Longque abandoned the indirect approach and straightforwardly asked. Do you know me?

Bai Wei shook his head, not very familiar with the heroic spirits of the Ming Country. "I don’t know."

Xue Hanlei nodded. "General Xia Longque, the second-grade heroic spirit of the Eastern War Zone."

Xia Longque said. I chased you all the way from Jinling City to here, never expected to be lucky enough to not be caught by Lu Yunchuan but to run into you because of this small matter… Actually, if you had just run away without minding the police earlier, you might have made it.

"Who would have thought that a simple money grab would lead to this?" Bai Wei, feeling a headache himself, sighed. What misfortune.

"Although I have a lot of questions for you, prioritizing them, there is one thing I most want to know right now." Xia Longque raised her index finger, gazing at Bai Wei. "Where did you get this sword?"

At the moment she asked this question, a faint purple exclamation mark appeared above her head.

In an instant, Bai Wei regained all his composure and calm. "No problem, we are on the same side."

He said. It was given to me in the past.
