Chapter 533: A Phone Call
Left Broken Paradise.
Sasha walked into the shower room, turned on the shower, and rinsed off the sweat and blood.
She didn’t really understand why she had this sudden impulse.
She never liked playing this role, she didn’t really cherish talented juniors, and she still saw herself as a young person. She was too lazy to mentor juniors and too lazy to act like an elder. She liked to personally handle things and be praised for being hands-on, but it was all nonsense. She just didn’t trust others’ efficiency and reliability.
Borrowed the other person’s gun on a whim.
Did this based on an unfounded speculation.
This is not something she would normally do.
Sasha had a clear stance, but she couldn’t explain the strange feeling in her heart. There was a tingling sensation spreading throughout her body that she definitely wasn’t curious, but still wanted to take off the other person’s mask to see who they really were. She knew the other person was Asian, but there was a indescribable subtle feeling.
Familiar?
No, not familiar at all.
Personality, tone, appearance, height, weight, all combined into a complete stranger.
That overly familiar tone and stubborn attitude are simply arrogant and she dislikes this type of person the most.
"Ah…" she rinsed her hair, staring at the ceiling of the shower room. "Something must be wrong with me, too much stress lately?"
Sasha doesn’t believe in the self-proclaimed identity of the member of Black Rose.
Although Black Rose is mysterious, it consists of witches. She specifically searched for information and unexpectedly discovered that the person who compiled and organized the information was Liliana. She had found relevant information about Black Rose from the Empire era several hundred years ago and organized it into a file, but the permissions were set very high, and only leaders could access it.
Sasha naturally believed that the other person was lying and had come to find her target, solely focused on advancing their own abilities, even at the expense of themselves.
She felt a bit sympathetic towards this young person, or perhaps she was unconsciously fishing for information…
The fragment of heaven had fallen into the hands of this young person, so she had to find a way to know their identity. It was necessary to make a simple gesture of goodwill and understand who they were.
Figure out their identity… But why should I bother figuring out the identity of a stranger? Because of sympathy? That’s all nonsense…
Sasha punched the wall, ending her daydreaming and the shower. She casually dried her hair, changed into a new outfit, and sat down on the balcony. As her hair dried in the wind, she spaced out.
It was getting dark.
A pleasant phone ring echoed, catching Sasha’s attention. She glanced at her residential phone number. This wasn’t her work number, but her personal one.
She answered the phone, "Who’s this?"
"An enthusiastic person."
Sasha’s lazy expression faded, replaced by a sharp gaze.
The communications from this enthusiastic person were irregular. So far, they had only communicated three times, this being the fourth.
In the previous three times, they had guided Sasha to find some historical information. She had never noticed them before. Most of these were archived by Liliana herself, but very few people had accessed them due to lack of authorization. With only these materials in hand, Sasha could only vaguely determine that the last Emperor, who died at Liliana’s hands, was definitely not mediocre. That’s all she could gather. She still didn’t know how this was related to the whereabouts of her mentor.
The timing of this communication is very clever.
"What hints are there this time?"
"This time is a big promotional event. We need to see what information you can provide in exchange."
Another voice came from the other end of the phone. So far, Sasha has heard two voices, it seems like two people taking turns, but there is a possibility of intentional deception.
Sasha replied, "I don’t have any new information to exchange with you."
"No, you do," the other person said confidently. "Otherwise, I wouldn’t have called."
"I don’t know the specifics about the Gray Tide disaster," Sasha said. Alena and Michelle both claim to have physical injuries resulting in memory loss and have a negative attitude of "I don’t know, don’t ask me" towards everything that happened inside, even though it seems suspicious. But, they won’t say anything, no matter how much you question them, you can only get random speculation.
"We already know that, it’s not related to the Gray Tide," the enthusiastic person continued. "What we want to know is… any information about Judy Selvicer, even just oral information. Blood Noble was involved in the last investigation and should know some specifics, right?"
Sasha frowned. "What exactly are you investigating? This involves the privacy of the bloodline."
"Naturally, these are the answers you want to know."
"There are no doubts about the fable."
"It seems like you’re not paying enough attention to her follow-up."
"What?"
"Oh, haha… don’t worry, we can talk slowly."
After thinking for a while, Sasha decided to share the information she knew.
"We will investigate further. Now please tell us the information you need, let’s exchange and benefit from each other." The enthusiastic person said, "Or should I continue giving you an enhanced hint?"
"No need." Sasha said lightly, "I no longer want to play the puzzle game with you. I don’t have the time or patience for it."
"Alright then, Blood Noble is indeed very busy. Not very virtuous." the other person said half sincerely, half sarcastically, "So, what information do you need?"
"Well…" Sasha pondered for a moment. "How much do you know about the organization Black Rose?"
The other person clearly hesitated. "Uh, I guess I know quite a bit about them."
"Tell me more."
"Black Rose is an organization created by witches, and they operated during the late empire period…" The other person briefly explained some information about Black Rose.
Sasha nodded, finding no significant differences from what she already knew. "Okay, that’s all."
"May I ask why you’re curious about Black Rose?" the other person added another question.
"Because there have been signs of Black Rose becoming active again recently," Sasha said. "I encountered someone who claimed to be a member of Black Rose."
"Oh?" The enthusiastic person’s tone remained unchanged, but curiosity and caution had arisen.
"But it was a fake," Sasha added.
"Hmm…" The kind person slightly calmed down and asked again, "Why do you say it’s fake?"
"The members of Black Rose are all females, right?" Sasha countered.
"Yes."
"So, isn’t it ridiculous for a male to claim to be a member of Black Rose?"
"Who is it?" The kind person immediately pressed for an answer. This question was asked too quickly, and even Sasha heard the sound of something being knocked over, with cups rolling and papers flying.
Sasha frowned, realizing from the other person’s panicked attitude that there might be something going on.
"Please let Blood Noble answer my question, who is he?" The kind person didn’t tidy up but continued to ask rapidly.
"Why do I have to answer you?" Sasha raised an eyebrow. "The information you just mentioned, is it fake? Are there male members in Black Rose?"
"…No."
"Since there isn’t one, why do you care about a fake member?" Sasha felt uneasy.
The helpful person remained silent for a whole fifteen seconds, making Sasha lose her patience. Finally, the woman on the other end of the phone spoke slowly, "Blood Noble, I didn’t lie. The information is correct, there are indeed no female members in Black Rose…" Then she changed the topic, "But its original creator and only leader is a man, the only male in Black Rose."
Sasha asked, "Who?"
The helpful person said, "Please answer my previous question first."
Sasha hesitated, "I don’t know…"
"What?" The helpful person couldn’t believe it, "Blood Noble, fair exchange, information sharing. I hope you can be truthful, that’s the basis of cooperation."
…she became anxious.
Sasha could tell, but she truly didn’t know, "Helpful person, I didn’t lie either. The person I encountered introduced themselves as such, and then they left. I couldn’t keep them."
The helpful person puzzled, "Why did they approach you?"
"Fighting."
"What kind of fight? Where did it happen? How long did it last?"
"They fought in a futuristic dimension, for three days and five rounds. It was a training and challenge in martial arts," Sasha replied seriously. "Although I don’t know who he is, he must be someone from the East, probably not the same person as the founder of Black Rose that you are looking for."
There was a long silence on the other end of the phone. Slowly, a voice said, "Whether it is or not, we’ll only know after we meet."
"Then you’ll probably be disappointed," Sasha inferred the intentions of these enthusiastic individuals. "I can’t find him either, so it’s unlikely I’ll see him again."
"There might be a chance," the enthusiastic person remained calm. "If there’s another opportunity to meet, please at least ask for his name."
