Chapter 490: It’s Better to Not Have This Unwanted Virtue
Bai Wei, initially hesitant to continue, found himself intrigued upon hearing about possible assistance. He paused to contemplate, his gaze sweeping across the four powerful creatures before him as though selecting the ripest fruit from a market stall.
Among these formidable beings, he had to choose one to sacrifice to the heavens.
With a casual flick of his finger, Bai Wei pointed toward the group, chanting mockingly,
“Nod your head; the King of Hell calls. If Hell won’t take you, I’ll send you off myself…”
His finger finally landed on the Golden Armored Flying Zombie.
“It’s you. I’ve disliked you for a long time. Now, come out and face me!”
The creatures exchanged incredulous glances.
“Has this man gone insane?” one muttered.
“Or is he pretending, hoping to lower our guard and outsmart us?”
While the monsters argued about who should step up, Bai Wei’s choice was clear. The Golden Armored Flying Zombie sneered at him.
“Clever pick,” it remarked coldly.
The Millipede Demon interjected, eager for a fight.
“If you’re too scared, let me handle him!”
But the Flying Zombie growled, “Back off! I’ll crush this carriage driver myself—and the carriage will belong to me!”
The Silver-Winged Great Peng laughed mockingly.
“Why should it be yours? We should share!”
“Because I’m the strongest here, and you’re the weakest. I’ll finish this in three moves,” boasted the Golden Armored Flying Zombie.
“Big talk!” retorted the Millipede. “You couldn’t even handle that Turtle Shell Spider earlier. Three moves? Ridiculous!”
“I can!”
“What if you can’t?” the Silver-Winged Great Peng teased, fueling the fire.
“If I can’t, then… add two more moves!”
The creatures erupted in argument.
“Let me fight next!” demanded the Millipede.
“No, it’s my turn!” protested the Great Peng.
“Stop bickering!” the Pansilk Cave Lord growled. “We have a bigger enemy here. Let’s act first and argue later.”
The Flying Zombie, ignoring them all, stepped forward.
“I’ll end this in one move,” it declared, unleashing its full power.
Its golden body expanded, shimmering with a malevolent aura. This was no ordinary monster—it bore the ancient bloodline of a demonic cultivator. Over centuries, it had forged its body into an unyielding armor, its strength rivaling that of a diamond.
Bai Wei, standing unshaken, prepared himself.
“Why do all demons in this kingdom wear armor?” he muttered. “Do I adapt mid-battle? No, I must act decisively.”
He snapped his fingers. The Golden Engraving behind him flared open, releasing a surge of magic that transformed the battlefield. With the Crouching Tiger Sword in one hand and the Thunder Strike Peach Wood Sword in the other, Bai Wei unleashed a dual assault.
The Crouching Tiger Sword spun threads of energy, while the Peach Wood Sword summoned a tempest of thunder. Together, the two attacks merged, meeting the Flying Zombie’s devastating strike head-on.
“Blocked it!” the Millipede exclaimed.
“Great job!” cheered the Silver-Winged Great Peng.
The Flying Zombie roared in frustration. “Stop mocking me!”
Their taunts only fueled its rage.
“I don’t care about karma anymore!” it bellowed, summoning every ounce of its strength.
But just as it prepared to attack again, a dark light streaked across the battlefield.
The ground shook as sand and snow flew into the air. Demons scattered in panic, their bodies bursting into mist if they stood in its path. Within moments, a graceful figure appeared in front of Bai Wei, delivering a single blow to the Flying Zombie’s chest.
The impact rippled through its golden armor, shattering its bones and flesh. The zombie was sent hurtling into a distant mountain, crashing through several caves. Barely alive, it tried to escape, only to be struck down by a flying wooden sword that pinned it to a tree.
The once-feared Golden Armored Flying Zombie, a creature of centuries, was defeated in an instant.
The battlefield fell silent as all eyes turned to the mysterious figure who had intervened.
“Mo… Murong…?” someone stammered in fear.
Murong Nu—ranked fourth on the Black List of the Ten Thousand Demon Kingdom. Known for her ruthless efficiency, she had held her position for five years, feared by all.
Even the Silver-Winged Great Peng quailed.
“I’ll leave the second spot to you,” it muttered to the Millipede before vanishing into the sky.
The Millipede followed suit, cursing its poor judgment. “I don’t want the second spot anymore!”
Now, only the Pansilk Cave Lord remained.
Trembling, it muttered, “I… I should run too…” But fear rooted it to the spot.
Bai Wei turned to Murong Nu, frowning. “The commotion you caused injured the horses pulling my cart. What am I supposed to do now?”
Murong Nu shrugged. “The spider will do. I’ll convince it.”
The two turned their gaze to the Pansilk Cave Lord.
The spider demon trembled in rage.
“You’d better not think about it! I’d rather die than pull that cart for you!”
